  2. Engine is all together. Just need to install a new rear main seal as soon as its off the stand.
  3. I was finally able to save a little loot after Christmas to buy the last tid bits for the engine. I got valve cover set, plugs, wires, pcv valve and all new bearings for the timing belt assembly with new belt and tensioner. I also got a chance to work on it again. I ran the engine bay harness and mounted the fuse block and the windsheild washer fluid bottle. Harness Fuse block, tight fitting with battery! Harness ran along drv framerail Washer fluid botttle
  4. 4 Hella 500's on roof rack. Iv'e yet to wire them.
  5. HVAC unit in with dash without dash With dash carcass fitted
  6. Firewall all patched up. I just need to patch in the fresh air inlets in the cowl then some paint and then I can install the harness for good and the hvac. All the brackets I had to make for the hvac and fuse block
  7. Here you can see the added clearance with out the lift blocks. Solid mounted rear suspension beam. Tied in rear diff bar to trailing arm pivot beam Plate work to hard corner of unibody
  8. Here are some pics from one of my last trips....about a year ago. Anza-Borrego State Park Little water Little mud
  9. I have tossed around the idea of doing some type of truck bedliner stuff in place of the carpet but it is not on the current to do list. As far as clutch I have to use what the d/r will allow although I've heard a clutch from an xt-6 model would be better for the new motor.....I dont know much about that but if someone has some good intel, please do share.
  10. I put remans on my 87 right after I lifted it and they were clacking right off the bat. I delt with it for awhile till the boots tore. I then bought all new boots from Subaru and used Subaru grease (all this was almost as expensive as the remans) The factory boots obviously werent 100% proper for the reman cv joints but after some fanangaling I got them on there and with a whole pack of grease in each cv. The inner factory boot also has the proper bellow sizes in the right spots. All in all this fixed all the clacking and Ive no problems since.
  11. Thar she sits Waiting a sponge bath and 2.5 liters of fury!! And a little hole to fit the new heater/ac under the stock dash View from inside The 01 Impreza hvac unit. I had to tab both halves together then mount to car. Quick little mount for the new fuse block All the bits on the rack
  12. Finally got around to finishing my roof rack last december. I tabbed it and used .125 alum as the floor. I had to cut the aluminum into 3 pieces but love how it turned out. I also painted the roof rack and the entire roof including the a pillars semi gloss black. No more rusty racks....hehe.
  13. I suck, brought the camera but didnt take any pics today. Gotta wait til next week.
  14. Finally got the internet going again. We purchased our first home out in the sticks and only thing available is satelite internet and it has been alittle out of my price range but we couldnt go any longer without. Now back to the car! I will get to the swap but first I was wondering if anyone else who is daily driving with the rearend weld ran into the same problem as me???? I pretty much ended up ripping the rear lift blocks out of the unibody. It cracked the sheetmetal and tore the factory weldnuts out of the car. I fixed it permanently by plating the car with some 3/16 then welded the rear crossmember to the plated areas. Now the entire rear driveline is solid mounted which is great but it was a ton of work. Ill get pics updated this weekend.
  15. Yeah I welded up holes and had flywheel redrilled which was a pain. Then the guy who redrilled the holes could not reface on the lathe cause the material was too hard. Finally took it somewhere else where they used a diamond grinder and a total of $265. I hope it works.
  16. Still without internet. At the inlaws to make quick post. Finally started 2.5 super swap. Car is completly gutted, had to cut firewall a bit to make 01 heater/air con unit to fit underdash. Wiring harness in all fitted in just need to solder connections to taillights and headlights. Still have to fill in firewall and make 01 guage cluster fit in dash. Also have to make all new ducting for heater/ac. Dash is pretty much 87 carcass. I will be installing gps, cb, and a new stereo and later on a ham radio. I tore the motor apart to do headgaskets and new timing belt. I will get some pics up sooner than later.
  17. First off Ive been awhile without internet. On a borrowed pc right now I pretty much have everything for the ej swap now. I am going with a complete swap....meaning I got everything from a 2001 Impreza. I have motor, chassis harness, guage cluster, a/c parts, all a/c and heater stuff for under dash, all a/c heater controls, power mirror switch, cruise button, steering column with 2001 wiper/blinker stuff....so pretty much every damn thing to run in 87 chassis with D/R trans Gonna be a bit of work to cram all that stuff into the 87 dash but I will make it work. Biggest item I need to get is the adapter plate. Other than the ineviteble misc stuff I have what I need. Plan is to wait till winter is pretty much over (not long in CA anywho) that way I can still play while the ea is still running.
  18. I have been making 1'' lift spacers long before Subtle...I have a few more model options than them for the older cars, PM for more info as I am not a vendor on this site.
  19. It has arrived Still lots to do before it goes in but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
  20. Roof rack still waiting on some $$ for some expanded metal to finish her off. I did however break the pinion shaft on the rear end....at least thats what it seems like. I also finally got some new tires. My freebies were getting pretty dangerous and I had no spare. So I went with 30''X9.50'' BFG All Terrains And a little trimmin....need to trim all the way to the door though
