Well I finally broke a rear axle, this was just after getting stuck in a giant ditch for an hour (pics to come) No biggie I was only 2 miles from my shop. I limped it to the shop and pulled the axle. I had some work to do so I worked for a bit more then went to drive home.....heres my big problem only my headlights work???? Im confused. None of the instrument lights work, no marker lights, no tail lights....It was too late for me to really care so I will take a look under the dash tomorrow. Now is the time for a stronger rear axle solution, and believe me I will find one

wagon to ute/pickup conversion?
JacksonRally replied to LPGsuperchargedBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can do it. I cut up my 06 WRX wagon but for a better departure angle. I don't want to make it into a ute but can do it. I would really like the suits at Subaru to see it one day. That would make it all worth while Here are some pics. Car was only a year and a half old when I did it Before During Done Well stocked -
Ok back to the cupholders Figure I'd start by at the shifter trim by making a new cap and eventually new shift boot. Cupholders to follow.

My ej motor is at my friend shop just waiting for me And my WRX with 300hp will destroy the EA trans...

Looks like there was a little video of me over memorial weekend. I didn't quite make it up the hill. This was my second attempt and 2 different lines. Traction was no problem just plain ran out of power. Notice I got a run for it at the bottom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buSFmoBnxso

Good to know on the stock recovery loops. I will have to make something. Just glad they worked last weekend
-
Thanks. Umm don't think the car will haul the welder. Not only is it massive, well its heavy and massive. I love the older welders, they don't give up on you as easy as the newer machines.

The funnel acts as the high point when burping the system. It allows for more than enough coolant to be added and when you see no more bubbles you put in a stopper and pop it off, virtually spill free.
-
This will get the toughest bubbles out of any radiator. I use this on our personal cars and our rally car and loan it out to friends for their cars. It IS the cats pajamas http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-24610-Spill-Free-Funnel/dp/B001A4EAV0

Finally found my battery charger for my camera. So I took some quick shots of my skid plate I threw together for the Memorial weekend trip. Also took some shots of the exhaust. I will take some better shots next time its up on the lift. I recycled the aluminum skid plate off my WRX and was able to cut out a nice piece for the 87 I couldn't stand the way the stock exhaust went under the driveshaft and took away some clearance, so I cut up the stock piping and turned/welded/cut/turned/welded til it was up nice and tight. I ran it under the pass floorboard and up and over the rear beam. I managed to use what was already there and only had to add a 10'' straight at one point. I also reused the hangers.

Almost EJ swap time
JacksonRally replied to JacksonRally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I will most definetly be keeping the D/R trans I have a guy that rebuilds our rally boxes and will eventually have him take a look at the trans. He has a few tricks up his sleeve and if they will work on the EA box I will let everyone know. -
Almost EJ swap time

Yeah I'm thinking HG's and timing belt stuff. Donor motor has 100k. -
I have an ej25 with all accs., entire car harness and exhaust sitting waiting at my buddies shop. I am going to be trading him for some work on his rally car. Most likely go with the tried and true SJR adapter plate and clutch set up. I'm hoping to hear from a few of you guys who are already swapped. I guess what I'm asking is how do you like it, if you were to do it over again what would you have done different? I went out wheelin today and the only thing holding me back from the Jeep guys was running out of power mid hill. I would imagine with almost double hp and tq the ej25 will have I should do a bit better? Just trying to get my ducks in a row and start to gather the necessary components for the swap. Please post up anything about swaps anyone wants to. I will continue to search through other thread and builds. Thanks Kyle

Well cupholders are on hold for now. I felt it was more important to fab up a skidplate deal for my Memorial day wheelin trip. I'll be sure to get pics.
-
My only major gripe about this car is the fact that there is no cup holders So I'm gonna make some.
