In the a.m when I go to start my car when it is cold it will not start I have to jump it. After that it will run all day and night. But once I tyrn it off and it sits it will not start. So what is the problem the battery has been checked and is ok. Please help.

Ok it says to set the engine at 8 dergee BTDC@700rpm so this means before top dead ceenter. Right! Thank-you bkody928

Checked my sparks plug wires they are where they should be. 1,3,2,4. Put the engine at TDC. Moved the distributor 180 degree. Really tires to start. but still will not kick over what is next? Or what am I missing? Or not doing? Almost there! Thank-you bkody928

I checked the sparked plug wires and they were in the right place. 1,3,4,2. So I moved the distributor 180 degrees It almost starts so yes I am getting closer. Where do I go from here. Or did I miss something? Thank-you bkody928

So if I am 180 deg. off what can I do to fix it. Start all over?

I have rebuild this s/w 4wheel drive it is a GL 1.8L EA82 the timing was off but now have it set. It will try to kick but will not I keep thinking I am missing something. Both timing are new new heads, oil pump water, coil, its all new. So what is I am missing?:-\ I used miles fox timing where you start on the 3marks than the driver side up and rotation 360 deg. which puts the driver side down and pass. side up rotation 360 end back up to the 3marks and than to 0.

I have just rebuild my 1987 Subaru GL 4wd new timming belts new oil pump put engine at tdc 1 plug but seems like there is no spark new sparks plugs new sparks plug wires, igition coil checked out where it should be what next new distributor cost over $200.00 is that what I need. This is the second Subaru that I have owned the first one was a 2wd but we took every where. This one is a 4wd and I live in Colorado and there is no mountain to big to climb, you must get to the other side. Just never know may be new to see. But I have spent the few months rebuilding this one. But I didn't take the air filter and vacuum hoses off around it. So not sure about where they go. I have a Haynes Manual and it leaves you hanging. I would thanks some one so much if they would point me to a vacuum hose diagram. Low on money from buying all the new parts for this car. So plase HELP!
