  1. yeah, i know they humm. mine just humms up and down with the blinker. every time the turn signal goes on and off, the pump changes its tune. didn't know if that is normal or not... thanks
  2. i haven't got that 86 parts car bought yet. if this is something else i can use, i will defenitley go for it. thank
  3. all the part numbers match up for these. 86 gl wagon. 4wd auto, vs. 92 loyale five speed. every where i look the part numbers are the same for the fuel pump and idle air motor. but i have found some info stating the 86 has a carberator on it. i am confused. and i don't like the way my fuel pump is sounding. thanks in advance.
  4. i put my spindles on top of the oven and got them hot and put bearings in the freezer for four hours and they fell right in with light tapping. i think you could push them in by hand actually at that point.
  5. is there a way to tell if the "cracked" heads that come with this 86 gl are ok for use without actually running them? that seems like a bit of a stretch at this point but wondering if there is a way to test them or something that i am un aware of. . the last engine i built was a 360 mopar and i went thru 7 heads that came off of perfectly good and running engines to get two that weren't "officially" cracked upon magnaflux. is there a subie rehab center in the chicago area?
  6. i was thinking about using the 86 body instead but i can't believe the guy put that spray in foam anywhere it was rusting. he seemed proud of this??? its been sitting for around four years so i think the water soaked foam probably has done its damage. plus it was a mice condo and even a rat was dead under the rear axle. i agree on the heads, he said it was over heating and he took it apart and found the heads were cracked and couldn't find any and it sat since. gasket set is included and he says he shut it off right away, the heads are prolly ok. he has alot of mice condo's, has about 40 vehicles in his back yard. he hates to get rid of anything, thus me paying four times as much for a parts car as i did my own loyale. i just knew when i forked out 50 bux for mine i was gonna be addicted like a crack head. i noticed this gl sits like two inches lower than my loyale though. does that make any sense? is there some sort of off road package that gives the skid plates and stuff like mine has?
  7. sweet, that is quite a large selection! what is generally a good backspacing to fit regular width 15" inch tires?
  8. was cruising a buddies junkyard on a golf cart the other day and found an isuzu amigo, and a mazda b2000 that had the right 6 bolt wheels for a subie 4x140mm conversion, i had not seen them on any list so far so i wanted to post this for everyone: some of these are aluminum so you would have to drill the hubs but most are steel so you could drill the wheels or the hubs as to your preference. Honda: Passport 1994-2002 Izusu: Pickup 2x4 and 4x4 Axiom Amigo 1989-2003 Rodeo Jeep: All 6 lug Jeep, Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer 1974-1992 Mazda: B2000, 2200, 2300, 2600 Pickup 1977-1993 Mitsubishi: Pickups 2WD and 4WD 1983-1996 Nissan: Pickups 2WD and 4WD 1973- Frontier through 2004 Pathfinder Toyota: Pickup 4x4 All T100, T150 4Runner 1986-2008 Tundra Tacoma 4x4
  9. i need some parts for my 90 loyale 4wd 5 speed wagon, and have a chance to buy a 86 gl wagon 4wd auto trans unit that is actually in better cosmedic condition than my 90. do the parts interchange like the front and rear cv shafts, brakes, alternator, a/c compressor, water pump, spindles, struts, etc. any interchange infor or a link to a source would be so helpfull here. this is a one owner car with only 100 thousand miles and it over heated once and they pulled the heads, found they were cracked and it sat ever since. tons of new parts and since new it had all records of work done. has sat for four years though, but in the last 20 thousand miles it had over five hundred in new parts installed. so, if the parts will all work out for my car that i only paid 50 bux for, i reckon, payin 200 for this parts car would be ok? what do you all think? thanks in advance for any help recieved. three foot of snow and it was still crawling!!
  10. well i tried to update my info so my state would show up, but it doesn't work?
  11. it looks like i may buy a whole parts car with pump on it, found through a friend sittin in the mud on a farm with cracked heads. i need to update my location information obviously, my fault i didn't have my state listed. appreciate the help though. thanks and now i will have parts to return the favor to some other midwestern subie owner i hope.
