Hey BCsubguy welcome! I can't add much to what's been said[without more info]things are pretty well covered, where abouts are you?

Nice!! $15 Looking forward to vids or you wheelin with the new diff:brow:.

The prob with larger injectors is the ecu still determins the duty cycle of the injector relative to how much air the maf see's so... maf sees x amount of air and tells the injector to open for x period of time, with larger injector's you'll be rich all the time wether you are boosting or not. The turbo has nothing to do with the fuel issues, flow issues are related to heat and efficiencies. This really has nothing to do with the turbo he's running, yes it spools fast and flows more and is waaayyy more efficient:slobber:, but that doesn't mean much to the computer it just measures cfm and fuels accordingly.

Upping the fuel pressure will help deliver more fuel no doubt, but it'll run very rich low-mid rpm range off boost[read sputter like crazy cause your plugs are fouling, probly bung up any cat you may run too]. Larger injector's will be the same prob.. To do things right[read not melt stuff and blow HG's] fueling needs to be addressed, maybe go with another injector boost activated or go with one of the many other fuel management options[ you'll be able toforget all about fuel cut too ]. I was doing the high boost thang on my lifted wagon for awhile but I don't have the $$$ for better fueling so I'm back down to 12 psi for now. I have spare blocks ready to be thrown in but the thrill of an extra 10 or 20 hp for a month or two is not worth the time to swap in another motor. After I've finished installing the hybrid tdo4 I will be steppin up to ? ... something better than this stock pos fuel setup.

At the level's of air you are moving those injector's are on basically 100% duty at max boost, you could up the fuel pressure more but it'll run like crap off boost if you raise it too much. Are you thinking about fuel management and larger injector's? melted pistons really suck. With that turbo and decent fuel metering .

West Coast Subaru Show 7 Thread (real deal)
Vanislru replied to ezapar's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Might be a crew from VI heading down, how many's not known yet but we're thinking 2 maybe 3 cars, be a first for all of us. -
$300 u.s. ! Maybe I'll sell mine and go welded, for 300 bucks I could destroy 6 axles and still come out ahead.

RX jerks when driving at constant speed
Vanislru replied to tizzle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've replaced 2 fuel pumps on my t wagons now and have replaced a friends too, I think maybe it has to so with there location, all the shaking? At least they aren't in the tank:) . -
Cheers Tim:drunk:

He's probly not a greedy a-hole just dumb. probly thought he'd make an extra couple a bucks. The wreckers round here had 2 soobs that I was interested in parts from, but they quoted too high so I said fug'em and you no what they ended up crushing those cars, I made a point of telling drunken buddy wrecker owner the next time I was in that he could've got an extra 3 or 4 hun, out of those cars if he'd given a realistic price. I dread the day when the pickin's get slim fortunately that's a long way of here in the PNW.

Hey Roundeye that wagon looks great!! Nice looking tires and rims looks very proportional. Iluvdirt, kits take about 10 hours if you have an air wrench and are familiar with the cars subframe setup. It took my friend about 30 hours with hand wrenches and no experience. I think they are 400 US, can't say for sure cause I paid for mine in CDN funds.

Blowers are OK but turbo's don't need any messin with
-
Actually if you do get water into the intake the motor will bog heavily and the turbo will not really push it into the motor all that much, most likely you'll stall before you send any large amount of water in. I did crack the exhaust snailshell on my last turbo, but I don't no if that was from water immersion or not. Overall I don't think they are any worse off than the N/A cars IMO.

Yep, fuel tank hose works really good too 2"-3" is common and it's rated for fuel/oil, if it's too stiff u can heat it up with a torche and size it just right. Any old ford or chev truck will have good lengths and som 'utes too. I've used rad hose before just make sure you keep the springs cause a bunch of heat and then heavy vac[like after a hard downshift] will cause the hose to collapse.

with 3.75" backspacing you lose a bit of fender clearance, add to that a 10" rim and you'll have to do massive "trimming" especially with 30's and up. I have 29x10.5's on 7" rims with 3.75" b.s., 10.5" is about the max tire width you'd want to run on a 7" rim. I had to smash the inner fender metal in the front about 4-6" along most of the bottom floor box area and do a good bit of cutting. I still rub on hard bumps while turning and that's with 4" of lift and 2" rubber strut spacers/stiffners, If you go with larger tires than 29" a 6" lift is a must if you want to maintain good tire clearances, IMO.

Phishy PM me a list of what you've checked and I'll try to help you with this, it's a common ea82t prob. ATB

how to tell if a turbo is going to bite the dust?
Vanislru replied to tysn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yep that's all i really go by too. -
Yes real low range, with an rx low range my gear ratio's would still be taller than stock with 29's:).
-
I run an oil cooler with a remote oversize filter and have my rad fan set up so I can cool things even if the thermo thinks it's not needed. With 29" tires I have to either work the clutch a fair bit or hit difficult obstacles with speed, 27" tires would be ideal for an ea82t for offroadin IMO. Other than some minor cooling issues the turbos are great, maybe a little less torque than a spfi but not much, and on the highway you will be able to pass or speed too. Keep things cool and you'll have no prob's... Lift it!!! Oh yeah as far as boost goes, in 4 lo turbo lag is really not an issue cause you can stay within a good power band, without the D/R lag's a bit more of an issue tho'.

Will you're not molesting a tdo4 too are you? I'm working on fitting my tdo4 compressor into a good stock turbo I have. Got em both apart just have to remove a little bit more material in the stock intake snail shell. I don't have any #'s for my car but it's putting a good bit of power to the ground, course with 29" tires it not all that fast of the line, untill the boost hits:brow:. I emberassed a friend in his 276 hp pathfinder the other night, it was soooo funny, me light wieght lifted ru him heavy expensive pathfinder, told me that he'd wait for me hahahaha. As soon as I left 1st gear which is quite tall now[23.4% taller] and dumped 2nd he was way back in my blind spot, after 2nd I slowed down for him caused I'd already made my point. My cars almost 20 years old tho and his pathfinder is brand new, my car $8,000cdn his $42,000 base msrp, even tho he loves my ru he'd much rather drive the nissan cause it's "sexy" and the girls love it's bling.

Mechanic in South Vancouver Island
Vanislru replied to jazzician's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You probly won't get much positive feed back from a mech, when I was getting ready to soup up the gl-10 all of the mechanics I met were dicks, nothing but attitude based on ignorance. One guy tried to tell me subies were from Aus. probly a fan of Paul Hogan. When I had my first twagon I asked a guy about turning the boost up and he told me that "these old motors would just fly apart and it would be dangerous". If you want some info on mod options and their reliability ask around here, there is so much info in old threads. There's always somebody who'll try to stear you in the right direction even if you are a wussy Canuck that can't stand freedom . -
I bought 2 4" lift kits from PK in Dec. 04 pretty sure he's still doing them.
