  1. you might be able to grip the top of the piston on the flat part and a wrench on the nut. but when i did that the top just broke off..
  2. when i did my rear struts i had to cut the nut off with a grinder. no matter what i did the vise grips would not grip the piston.
  3. i'm not well read on the tech specs, but the sensor was like $19 iirc. you can pull it and test it with hot water, to see if its resistance changes as the water gets hot.
  4. your a little off. i believe the thing on the thermostat is the iacv. when your standing at the front of the car, the engine temp sensor is a little south east of the turbo, its on the coolant crossover pipe. BE CAREFUL WITH THE CONNECTOR, they get very very brittle sitting next to the turbo.
  5. so a couple plans in the works, after selling the smaller pugs and tires to my good friend Tundrabrat i'll have a little extra cash, and with the owner of the shop i've been working at being gone for a month i have free reign over the place. a couple things are going to happen. the white alloy pugs will be painted and sanded, its hard to explain so i'll let the pictures do the talking when i get it done. this will probably be the first thing to happen. a new tierod end and a redneck alignment. and i got a lead on an upgrade alternator which should give me more power than i could ever possibly need.140 amps, AT IDLE. to much? nah. if my understanding of how the the electrical system works is correct it will only be a problem if i pull too much power through the stock harness. a larger charge wire is a definite. i might also have access to a "cosmetic" winch to put on. its only around 2000# but it will serve as a retractable tow cable. and it will look cool too. plus its going to mount to the stock bumper and i dont think it would be very good for much more than that. oh and the car might get a little paint work. i'm either going to paint the whole front black with half the front doors painted black diagonally from the mirrors to the rockers .or get some color match lake blue for the gray fender and black hood. probably the second option. Stay tuned!
  6. LOL i have pulled a few fullsize trucks out of ditches and snow drifts, they always look at me like im crazy when i tell them what i'm going to shame drag them with.
  7. Oh no problem! wheeling isn't much fun by yourself! I'm really surprised your car did as well as it did, these cars never cease to amaze me also your car looks really good with those tires on there:cool: We need a camera next time. I'm sure it looked pretty cool from an outside perspective.
  8. I'm glad you got it figured out! now you can get more dashcam videos!
  9. Welcome back! Are you thinking about getting a subaru again?.. you and i both know you cant swing a cat without hitting 6. especially in the valley.
  10. I really hope it dumps like 3 feet of snow, the roads are always empty, except for all the trucks that got stuck. I have a tow strap permanently tied to my rear tow hook just for pulling people out of ditches and snow banks. And that was before it was lifted.
  11. hey 88 raider! I'm akleprecon on the aknetwork forum. maybe you should post the pics of it with the boggers?..
  12. I dont get it, last year there was a record breaking amount of snow, we got 12' here in town and cordova, one of our smaller towns got 21'!!! of course once I finally get my car lifted the worlds going to end.
  13. Ha! maybe where your at but its 18 below 0 right now, every thing is completely frozen. and theres almost no snow... I'm so ticked about that. theres normally like 2feet by now, and for some reason theres only a few inches..
  14. heres some 14" Peugeot rims on my wag. And with some 15" Peugeot rims you can also get some 6lug rims off chevy, mazda, toyota ect. and drill 2 holes to bolt them on. 2 holes line up already/ heres a hatchie i had with some 15" redrilled mazda rims, some cars had 14" 6 lug rims. much easier to find. I marked where you have to drill in red. its best to use a junk hub or drum with 2 studs knocked out as a guide. Hope that helps!
  15. Dont worry, I'm sure there will be few stuck pictures, not many though. All the mud is frozen.:-\
  16. I got my car trimmed for the larger tires, and took it offroad again. didn't get any pics because its too dark. but I'm going to be offroading alot more now so i'll make sure you guys dont miss out.
  17. a few things i did notice is, it rides like a truck now, and my need for an alignment is even more apparent:( my front C/V joints make angry noises from a stop. And without studs it has a little less traction on the ice, oh well, I could drive on bald summer tires and not have a problem. I actually learned how to drive, in winter with a fwd mazda on bald summer tires.
  18. The acceleration has suffered a little bit, but I think that has something to do with all the extra weight in the back:lol: I never wanted a normal non lifted subaru. so I think I'll be ok:D
  19. thanks! i like how it actually looks lifted now
  20. lets play spot the difference! 100 internet points to the first right answer lol i need to do a little more trimming to make them clear completely but dam im happy!
  21. I found these while browsing an Alaska off road forum, don't think these are here already
  22. It may also need the timming belts adjusted. My advice is get a Haynes or chilton manual for your car get a cheap toolset and start learning. These cars super easy to work on.
  23. idk, i can get my wag sideways anytime i want. which is all the time! i had an 84 hatchie with bad front axles, so it was rwd, so it would drift all over the place, but being so short it would just spin out. and in the winter it was worthless. heres it with some 28's never did get to wheel it though, my brother got it impounded..
  24. It was alot of fun, i might have to do it again tomorrow! lol Its right around the corner from my house, if you wanna know exactly where it is PM me. I don't want to expose information like that here on the interwebs:)
  25. Don't forget to check blowby. its easy, just pull the oil fill cap while its running. if there's a lot of air coming out there's some piston ring issues. when i hold a piece of paper over the oil fill on my car the paper barely moves.
