  1. i had the same problem with my ea82t the intake pipe was cracked and leaking so it would slowly idle down and down until it would just stall. then i bought a new pipe (newish) put it on sealed it with rtv just to be sure and bought t clamps...then about 2 days later it started again but this time it was my maf that was bad..but alls well and she purrs like a kitten, i hope you can figure yours out.(mine still stumbles a little until the boost kicks in.. i thinks its just the nature of the beast. try some seafoam it might help a little. also if making a new intake pipe is too hard you can move the maf between the IC and TB it will get more accurate readings and wont cause any more problems.
  2. thats pretty cool lol my gl-10 came with a exhaust like that.. i drove up a fairly steep hill and when i backed down the tip dug into the ground and bent it all up.. so i threw a stock muffler on it. its so quiet the only thing you can hear is the clutch fan lol
  3. can you count all the subies? i cant. ea82s and this be the new gen and misc stuff.. all these belong to D.C.subaru wasilla Alaska. needless to say i can get any part imaginable.. even if they sometimes cost an arm or leg.. ill get some better pics of the place when i go out there again.
  4. the beauty of the rear mount is the turbo doesnt get super hot so it should be fine in the snow i would worry more about deep puddles but if the intake is routed into the trunk it should be fine...
  5. rear mount turbo it! basically put the turbo at the end of the exhaust and run your piping from there. you need a high temp oil pump but thats about it. and with the tight spaces in that engine bay it seems like the only answer.. heres a how to http://www.junkyardturbos.com/Rear-Mount-Turbo.php
  6. thats a really nice 3 door!.. its almost like a stealthy RX lol winter is almost here and that things going to be a blast! as for the rough idle check the intake pipe. if thats all good and theres no CEL i would try seafoam.
  7. give the drive shaft the old shake test. it shouldnt move much if any. but i would check your axle nuts also. more than likely its the carrier bearing.
  8. Geez look that that shipping!! $225 thats redonkulous.
  9. i was not aware there were any subies in Hawaii thats awesome! welcome!
  10. Actually its FWD=Forget Winter Drifting. Still a nice wagon though keep up the good work!
  11. i did this too on my wagon when i put the dual range in. theres 2 wires for the reverse 2 for the 4x4 light and2 for the low light.. not sure about the diff lock though. i used a voltmeter to figure it all out.
  12. How about a snorkel, that isn't a piece of PVC? Something molded to an ea82 that hooks to the factory air box. so you only have to zzz one hole. Or perhaps a carb hat for our friends with Webbers or Hitatchis so they can use a snorkel too. I think the 2wd guys would like the 4x100 conversion, as there's thousands of options for street rims. Just a couple ideas.
  13. 4x100 hub redrills theres alot of 2wd people who would want that. SNORKEL. Thats all i can think of that isnt already being made.
  14. Neer seen a convertable subaru before awesome! Well thats not true i did see one at an auction here it was an ea81 coupe someone cut the roof off of and had it held in place withsome kind of latches It was a POS
  15. Gl-10's are where i would look86-89 most likely.
  16. I had a thought about the ea82t and its pretty simple move the stock turbo or one slightly bigger to the end of the exhaust like a remote mount turbo system It would cut down turbo, boost, and oil temps. And with the turbo at the back you dont really need an intercooler. But there might be a bit more lag.. And some random knowledge of mine 83 l6 nissan 280z(iirc) has the same style injector with more flow. THE EA82T i want to see 150hp lol:popcorn: And this might have been a typo but my haynes says the xt6 has the same compression as the ea82t 8.5:1 (i could be wrong)
  17. You could get some 13" atv/sidebyside tires.
  18. Why not use a dual range? Low gear would allow some smokey fun.. I dont think it would hold a turbo but a n/a ej22 shouldnt be too bad especially with the light weight of an rx7 I want to do kinda the oppisite i want to put the rear axle out of an 82 gsl in my wagon..flexy flex. I did a bunch of research and it turns out that axle is a 3.9 ratio..with kits on ebay for 4.11 and other ratios That and as of recently i have a very nice but very rolled 82 gsl. 12a 5speed lsd rear disc brand new clutch and a full 3" magnaflow with some kinda racing header.122k red leather....lessons learned.. ( i am parting it out if you need anything) Also kinda just ramblin at this point but what about making an rx7 awd? The only real difference i could see is the front knuckles have the steering linkage on the back instead of the front as with an ea series. My thought was to switch the pass and drivers sides with each other then it would line up.. Of course there might be a little more work than that but nothing really major. although i could be wrong i have been before lol! Just my $0.43 (im generous:D)
  19. You could get 2 atv tires on stock 13"s and just switch the front wheels when you need to go offroading. Its a little more work but not too bad..
  20. Ive never payed more than 1300 for a car and yet i aleas sell them for 1000 or more.i got a 87gl for free from a neighbor put a jump on it and my brother drove it for 8months and ive gotten countless 100$ cars alot of subies before i was 14 (i dont count those) i remeber we got a 84ish wagon for free put an ignition fuse in it and we sold it for 800 lol ive had more car in the last 5 years than most people have had in thier lifes lol. Forgive my grammar.im on my ipod lol.
  21. This is the 6th subaru ive gotten for less than 500 even the gl-10 was 450 Its amazing how people dont reilize the value Of these cars. (ive done an astounding amount of work on that gl10 and i spent little to no money doing it.) funny enough i bought the gl-10last year at PFD time and im buying it again for the same price and i have to do almost the same work i did to it last year..lol Im super excited, I've been without a car for about 3 months. My normal buy fix sell buy something else plan fell through when i rolled my car.. This is car #31 for me. i generally lose money on them but i drive them alot so it doesnt matter. out of all those cars only 1 i know of isnt on the road anymore..i love driving around and seeing cars ive worked on.
  22. Exactly. And as a bonus i got wheels and tires lights snorkel a brand new clutch and some other random parts. Im quite pleased lol
  23. i picked up this 88 gl sedan with a 5spd d/r 159k for 150$ runs and drives it needs a clutch soon. it appears all the mounts are shot/unhooked. theres alot of good parts here.. like 2 brand new front c/vs and 200$+ worth of peugeots and BFG winter slalom tires. and i just found out im getting my 87gl-10 back next month.(its 5spdd/r has 360k and its getting tired)so i got some work ahead of me/ and now the pics. we all love pics.\ i love the headlight protectors and my 87 gl-10 the plan is to combine the two along with a 2" lift and end up with a B/A wagon/ hopefully ill get everything done before more of this happens.. what a way to wake up eh? so what do you guys think, did i do good?
