Anaerobic sealer on oil pump + new gasket
AKghandi replied to AKghandi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i just ordered the O ring. thanks for your input -
I already replaced the micky mouse gasket, but its still leaking. I pulled it back off to make sure the gasket was set properly, and it was. so I bought another micky mouse gasket, and I was wondering if a thin layer of anaerobic sealer around the outside of the gasket on the machined surface is a good idea.

No 'backpressure' on EA82T
AKghandi replied to BoostedBoxer421's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i used to run my ea82t with about 2' of exhaust off the turbo. sounded mean and more power. the turbo creates quite a bit of back pressure on its own. -
the engine would bog down at any rpm like it was running out of gas, i suspect it was the intake mani gaskets but i didnt check. if all goes well i shouldnt need stop leak, though the oil stop leak made by blue devil works really well.

..i never had a problem in winter here. and i live in alaska. never got stuck, even through 3'+ snow drifts. always started, even at -35f with no block heater. best reliability mod you can do is ditch the timing covers, and keep a spare timing component set in the back. best way to not get stuck is keep one thing in mind, when in doubt throttle out! and dont be afraid to hit things with some speed. wouldnt be a bad idea to install that dual range.

Broken or just need to be pushed together?
AKghandi replied to comatosellama's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you can put it back together, but you have to make sure everything is there. the balls and cages and the large snap ring on the inner lip of the cup. -
So today i pulled the car in the garage and crawled under it wiped eveything down and looked for leaks. The oil pump leaks. The drivers cam seal leaks A LOT And i think the oil pan is leaking. This car leaks more than any other car i have owned. When my parts show up I'm going to pull the motor. Again. And make sure this turd stops leaking.

saw this little piece of epic while driving through a random neighborhood. -
So today i stripped all the useful parts off the parts turd. Now i play the waiting game for my oil pump parts.
-
i orederd a new micky gasket and a set of cam seals. i already have the pump shaft seal i just didnt put it on. this time im going to do all of it. and if it still leaks then the lift and tires will be put on hold while i EJ it. I'm also going to pull the other oil pump and see if theres maybe some more wear on one than the other
-
depends on the car year make model?
-
so its pissing out the oil pump gasket.. guess i better take it back off and see what the problem is.
-
still leaking. ..i think its coming from the driverside headgasket. and the oil pump. im getting irritated with this.
-
So today i put on the new brakes, wheel cyl and changed the oil.. again. all i had lying around was 5w30 so it started leaking. i put 20w50 in and that should fix it. also i got a second job. fixing subarus like mine and some other various cars. mostly subarus. but i now have access to a full shop with tools and a welder and oh yeah a building full of subaru parts. woot woot!! workin 2 jobs should yield alot of moneys for the roo things are looking up.

Your car is what im going for. Though ill have to see if i can swing it

I will try my best, I know that I plan on running a whole new bank of relays so that when high beams are on all 4 come on. with nice clean power straight from the battery. the wiring will be the fun part, the actual mounting is easy. hell the body already has all the threaded holes.
