  1. hmm so it looks like im on the hunt for an original subaru axle with DOJ on both ends. my up travel isnt much but my down travel is quite a bit at full droop its like i have a 4". thanks to the 4runner struts. but the other side which still has the double doj's hasnt had an issue. i knew i should have rebooted the original one.
  2. so i put a new rear axle in my 2" lifted wagon along with a welded diff. not long after i realize the diff doesn't seem welded any more. i go to take it out and its not the diff its the axle i replaced the inner DOJ had separated, the axle turns independently of the cup. the other axle has a doj on both ends where as the new on doesn't it has a doj on one end and a cv on the other. so the axle gets pulled out of the DOJ so i replaced it again with a reman from oriellys and the next day the same thing happens. My thought is to take 2 axles and make one with DOJ on both ends but would that work?
  3. well i put a new axle in and it works great. a little too great actually, it broke the new u joint i put in last night.. twisted it right apart.
  4. well after 10 hrs in the garage and at the parts store i completed a couple things. new front cv, new rear struts out of a 4runner(thanks for the idea jezzek) new u joint and put the old diff back in and took the oncewelded one out.. then i discovered the inner doj on a rear cv had exploded.. the cup turns without the axle.. it never ends
  5. i ran into this issue with my dads elcamino, we put a carb on it and after it would pop and sputter and run like garbage had no power but would idle. the cat was clogged. after we cut it out it hauled rump roast/
  6. nope. one is a flapper, the other is hotwire. they will not interchange.
  7. i used to have an 87 gl-10 turbo wag, ive dealt with all kinds of issues. 3 major problems that pop up with that motor are 1 coolant temp sensor, 2 intake boot leaking, and 3 maf. all of those will cause stutters and stumbles.. another thing that i dealt with is a little stumble due to a bad cap and rotor. but i think i read that you replaced that.
  8. its funny you mention that, my gl-10 actually used to. it was missing one of the washers and even with the lock nut tightened it would still tighten itself up. until i replaced all the hardware on the cable end.
  9. the clamping force is provided but the pressure plate. no the clutch fork. loosening the cable will allow the pressure plate to apply more pressure..
  10. GET A BIGGER HAMMER.. seriously. i had to get a 15lb sledger to massage the fire wall on my rig. they will rub on full lock but i still have most of my turning circle. i have the same sort of offset as you. flatten the pinch weld then proceed to beat the firewall in till the tires clear.
  11. good to hear! ill have my little secret project road legal here in a few days... when you get back ill have to stop by and check it out
  12. the rear doors should have the speaker holes and wiring already. atleast thats how its been on every loyale that only had 2 speakers. the door panel should even have perforations for the speaker cut out.
  13. just about the only thing he got right was the words "chicken tax"
  14. I've gone through dozens of c/vs. what finaly fixed it for me was to get a good set of new axles and reboot and regrease them with better quality boots and grease. i also use heavy duty zip ties instead of the cv boot clamp. not sure if that makes a difference but they are easier to use.
  15. my 87 gl-10 with a lift would do it in around 10s. my 86 gl with a lift and 29" mud terrains.. will do it. though i had to use a sun dial to time it.
  16. I hope you get it running soon!.. I need to find the time to come check it out
  17. I retro fit an ipod touch into the hole where the clock goes on one of my older projects. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/128425-ea82-dash-clock-ipod-upgrade-now-with-pics/
  18. you dont have enough rust.. these cars have a natural performance leveling system, they shed weight as they get older to keep performance acceptable... obviously im joking.. i have the same problem on my 85 gl but i have the 5 speed and 30" tires.
  19. sounds like a bad fuel pressure reg. pull the vac line off it and see if gas comes out.
  20. lol nice, though they sold a hell of alot more than 5 RX's in america...
  21. i had this issue, it was a leaking intake pipe. from the maf to the turbo.
  22. mazda pickups late 80's had 14" 6 bolts with good offset.
  23. so after a couple hours of RTV and replacing hoses im finally happy with it. the biggest problem was the lid for the aircleaner wouldnt seal. so i had to put a piece of split hose around the rim. the snorkle actually sucks now... doesnt quite stall the motor but im not %100 sure subarus even need air anyways.
