  1. back a few years ago i bought an OBS and the first snow i could do doughnuts in i lost one and it was gone forever...you could always do what I do though...use alloy wheels.
  2. looks like you guys had a great time...that touring wagon of paul's is a veteran of that place. MORE PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks a bunch both of you guys! I hopefully will be going after it next weekend so we will see how it goes then. Thanks again!
  4. here is something that I found while doing a search. It was written by GeneralDisorder. Anyone have anything to add to this or more precise locations of bolts, nuts, etc.? I want to get a new dash for the 83 and i might have found one..... thanks for all input GD's post: As for removal tips - I just did this job on Saturday, and I can say that removing the windshield (10 minutes with a utility knife) will really make getting to the bolts on the top of the dash much easier. Of course you can't do this on your car, but at the junk yard it certainly would fly, and make your visit more enjoyable. With the windsheild out, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get the dash out. I had never pulled one before either, but if you know where all the bolts and nuts are, then it's actually pretty straightforward. Remove the surround, and the guage cluster first, as well as the drivers side kick panel. Remove the glove box door, and insert. And remove the passenger kick panel/shelf. On top of the dash remove the vent louvers, and there will be three or four bolts underneath that hold the dash down.... various nuts and bolts underneath that hold the dash in place, and of course all the wireing has those wraps on it that hold it to the dash. Couple of zip-ties in there too. I just cut those. GD
  5. Tim, I saw the guy use that stuff on "Trucks!" back a few years ago...he said it worked really good...if you do it post your impressions b/c i think it is a great idea (and I hate weights too)
  6. nice wheels....newer forester XS wheels are great to look at and easy to clean!
  7. welcome to the "club" shawn There is a section over at nasioc for baja owners. Check us out! Is that OB you got rid of the one you did the 2.2 conversion on? Did you get automatic or stick? If you want a bed cover go over to nasioc and do a search on ozz bros cover....I have one and there is a great post about it over there. Pics dammit
  8. don't forget you also hear a little more in an aluminum engine too. Grinding noises are usually bad and so is POW type of noises.
  9. what did the heated seats cost you? I wouldn't mind having some for my baja
  10. no rocky high centers....heck i don't even know if there are any rocks in there at all. its just sand....and lots of it. For those who don't know or remember...I took a brand new 02 outback in there once many years ago. Nothing happened to it at all. Some of the trails are pretty tame...I saw a PT cruiser in there once. Go and enjoy yourself...it is a good time!
  11. I have never seen one of those CXT's on the road. I drive its working brother once in a while... a 2005 international 4600 with a jerr-dan rollbed on it. I'd rather have the brat though
  12. to take the heads off you are going to ahve to remove the front panel that has the t-chain in it. I read somewhere that there are a sh#& load of bolts in this housing and it has a special sealent that subaru sells for this reason. It could turn into more of a PIA then you think if you are going to do the HG's. But in all seriousness....+1 for the swap! I am going to be really interested in how this goes....maybe someday my baja will have the motor that it should have come with in it. You going to do the swap yourself? You really don't need anything special tool wise to do this (other then an engine crane)
  13. I really like my baja. I can honestly say it is the best new subaru I have ever bought. I ran it out to Chicago (708 miles) 2 weeks ago and the 10 or so hours I spent in it were great. I got out in Chicago and wasn't even tired. I wish it had heated seats too....maybe some day it will. If you are still looking for one there was one over in York at a ford dealer that was an 03 silver and automatic (I think) and they wanted somewhere in the 15k range. If you were interested i could look to see if they still have it. Oh and for what its worth....my baja is stick. I love it!
  14. w00t for sure!!!!!! and hawtness of a car too! Old school (with a new heart transplant) FTW!!!!!!!!
  15. I know exactly what kit you bought....I didn't even know you could still get that assortment. i bought mine back in the day for an EA-82 and I used the EA-81 part to hook a friend up. Kudos to you for being a good soobenthusist!
  16. oh and why would you need someone to put the 4 cyl in? Trust me I don't think it is as hard as you think it is.
  17. the emissions test is one of those things that is making me go hmmmm at the moment. Did you locate an engine or are you just calling around?
