Hey, just so you know before you use this manual... All of the above info is from Subaru enthusisasts who are not experts trained by Fuji in the art of how to jimmy-rig your car with new fangled ways to improve it. Many things here in the manual were trial and error attempts by members. Sometimes the bugs are not worked out. We try our best to be honest in telling you *how to*, but that doesn't neccessarily mean we're 100% on the mark. Bad things may just happen if you try one of these experimental *fixes*. The owners and moderators of the Ultimate Subaru Message Board which contains the Ultimate Subaru Repair Manual will NOT be held liable for your actions/modifications. Good luck with your repairs and/or modifications but just remember...you are doing it at your own risk. The owners and moderators of USMB

FTW= for the win!!!!!11!!! (it is a nasioc term) as for airbags I think you need to replace the steering wheel part (the one that blows out) and there is a thing behind it called the clock spring...I believe you replace that too. Simple rule of thumb on airbag systems....all connectors are bright yellow so that you don't confuse them with anything else...so that might make finding system parts a little easier and not as confusing. Good job dude...you well on your way on the cheap! EDIT: the sensors are in the beam or attached to it I think...look for yellow plugs! ( and you are going to have to replace them if they got damaged in the crash) FWIW, (for what its worth) you do not need to have a working airbag system for PA inspection.

I'm in! tell me when (as long as it is after july 7th weekend) -
Origionally posted by spacinjason on nasioc but I thought it would be good to have this info here too: If you have a newer subaru that the seatbelt chime goes off when the belt isn't buckled (maybe you are just sitting in a parking lot etc.) then this might just be your answer. Cutoff Function for Seat Belt warning chime (Works for the 2005 Outbacks and Legacys, too) Warning: I am in no way responsible for anyone’s safety...just posting this as a convenience. 1. Turn the key to “ON” (not running). 2. Fasten and unfasten the driver’s seat belt 20 times in 30 seconds, starting from when you actually turn on the key. (This will set the passenger seat as well). 3. Turn the ignition on, and you should be set. 4. Setting lasts until the battery is disconnected or the system is otherwise reset. 5. If you want to do this as a temporary thing (just for one driving period), fasten/unfasten the belt 3 times in 6 seconds. The chime will reset the next time the car is started. I got the above info from Scoobytrucks. If you go there to the Baja forum, you will find info on the seatbelt chime. The first time I did it I had tempory success, but chime returned the next day. Second time I did it was a success as I only get an initial six second chime when I start Baja. Spacinjason '06 Baja T MT

the one thing that in my opinion really makes that engine shine (to me) is the fact that it has a timing chain and not a belt like the 4 cyl does. Right there alone is $500 in savings of maintence that you don't have to do to the car. As for the premium gas thing: I think (my understanding) is that it will be fine with 87 in the tank but you are not going to get the full 212 or whatever HP out of it then. Another thing....does it have to be 92/93 oct? Maybe use the 89 instead?

For those who were at Carlisle

FUDGE!!!!!!! (you know what word I really mean) I'll keep an eye open if i see anything cheap. If i see anything...does it have to be AWD? -
I could be wrong but isn't the high side and the low side different sizes making it almost "fool proof"? If not the caps on inputs have letters on them L and H As for did it help???? I didn't do it to the legacy yet and on every hot day we have around here I get reminded of it from the wife. I did it to a 95 OBS and yes it did help a lot.

I got something at autozone over the weekend and did the lights on my legacy and my moms legacy and it was freakin awesome. It comes in a kit and you use a drill to buff them with these special pads. I did a friends 98 Grand Cherokee (you know how they get really bad) and in a matter of minutes they were almost like factory new. oh and what I got at AZ was only $11

I don't think that applies to imprezas I think that difference is in the old school cars and turbo vs non turbo.

I spent almost $100 at harrys. If you can get it off a friend and do it for a little more then go that route...it might be easier in the end. We had a tough time getting them off at harry's...so we used a rechargable cut off wheel to cut the suspension (sshhhhhhh don't tell the people at harry's )
