Help on purchasing/price of Brat
subeman90 replied to coylethebarbarian's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
do it or you'll regret it later. Trust me on this. If you lived out in Wa or something like than then it might be different but in KY i'd do it in a heartbeat. -
Can the ECM be eliminated/bypassed on an EA-81?
subeman90 replied to Brettm57's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
is the coil any good? are you getting power to the coil? As for eliminating the ECM? I bet you could. Think of it this way...how many carb. vehicles are out there that don't have a computer in them. Now just think of what it really takes to make a car run: Fuel (maybe you might have to rework the FP relay), power to the starter, power to the coil (for spark), air(if you don't have air I don't see how you could be reading this). i don't know how the gauges work but you could lose them in the process (if ecm controled) I just totally lost my train of thought... (wife complaining) you can see where I am going with this.... think it out and maybe you could overcome some of the small things to make it all come together. -

do you have emissions testing up there? If so you had better not touch any of those hoses yet or you'll wish you didn't. Don't get me wrong.....I'd do it too if I didn't have emissions here. -

I'd be interested in being in it too since I have the 83 and it only has 54k on it....and I did plan on bringing it to carlisle anyhow. Am i worthy? -
I agree with the others. When I was out there in my "new back then" 02 OBW I noticed it got sluggish and I had no idea why (stick) but then I really looked around a little and realized I was going up the whole time and didn't even notice it. I later turned on the GPS and confirmed my origional thoughts. Is he driving on snow covered surfaces? Doesn't sound too fun to me....(when you are really trying to get somewhere quickly) goodluck!

I thought I was the only one that had withdraw. glad were back on. -
dude...dave and melis are the last to get anywhere...trust me on this. The odds of them being last anywhere is about 100%. But to their defense....they did have a blowout on the way down last year though.

personally I wouldn't worry about it if they can provide some documents like gary said. you know the saying....sh@# happens. I know someone who broke a t-belt and it only had 40k on it. Sure you hope it never happens but like I said... sh@# happens. if the overall cond. is good then I say try to get them down a little and take it. For reference: my folks bought a 99 sedan with 61k on it 2 months ago for $7800 cash/no trade at a mom and pop dealer. Drive it and if you like it beat them up a little on price and buy that thing and enjoy the snow for once.

Heading to PA Tomorrow AM
subeman90 replied to Seahag1978's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
if you have a snafu and you need some assistance call me....I can be in lebanon in about 25 min. 717 572 1160 otherwise....have fun! -
when I bought some newer soobs lately I was getting the "teflon paint protection" I can see a difference in my friends Honda (1999) (he has it on his car) compared to others on the road today and he doesn't have a garage. I was pleased with it on my old forester and Impreza. As for rustproofing....my Imp was gooey underneath from something and I didn't pay extra for it... factory? Realistically i prefer to undercoat myself mostly b/c i think I can do a better job than a highschool kid who really doesn't care about my car can do.

no. the svx uses some sort of strange gear ratio that isn't anything like the "rest" of the subarus use. I it is a lower #...I think it is a 3.54 or something like that -
Well,... i cut my cap into a spoiler

RallyX in Central PA
subeman90 replied to benebob's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
you folks missed a good one today!!!!!1!!!!!!! Ben and Dave had some really great runs in the morning and in the afternoon Dave had to leave for personal reasons so I took his place in the svx to say that it kicked (you know what) would be an understatement. Pics will eventually follow Oh and John in his "flying coffin of death" did really great too. He was the only one representing the old school out there. -

I think that all SVX's are LSD as long as they are AWD (don't forget there are a select few 2wd svxi out there)
