Plan your vacation days at work accordingly!

Vicious LSD 3.9 Rear end/EA82 installation
subeman90 replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
is it really hard to convert a VLSD to a different gear set? I have a 3.9 VLSD and I want to put it in the impreza which I think has 4.11. Really i am concerned with the backlash and the gear meshing right and not having a singing rear while I go down the road. Give some tips and stuff like that. Doing a swap at -20..... dude your hardcore. I give up on open weather working at about 30...but then again I have problems with my hands.... -
do yourself a favor.....if you buy a new one go up to Becker in Allentown. I always get a great deal up there and it is totally worth the drive. Talk to Bill Pasco...he is a heck of a nice guy. If you want my honest opinion...I think the honda's are soleless cars that have a real lack of personality...but then again what did you expect to hear on a subaru board. If you have never owned a subaru I really don't think you will ever want to be in a frontwheel drive car ever again after it snows here. This I do know for sure!!!!

I went to harry's in Hazelton last wknd. there is nothing there that you would be interested in. There were about 3 EA-81's but nothing older. They were virtually untouched. Craploads of early impreza's but nothing "old skool" Of course there are ea-82's there but nothing that really jumped out at me... -

That thing was owned/built by a great guy that went by the SN of "EJ". One time awhile back i was in that car when we went offroading....it bogged out in some water and I just sat there as the water poured into the car. I started throwing everything onto the back seat so it didn't get wet. i sat there with my legs up in the air b/c the water was filling the passinger footwell. ahhhh the good times. If I can find some pics I'll post them for ya....

I personally think goodyear tires are way over priced and the goodyears on my impreza are deafining at highway speeds. My garage man don't like them either. Seriously they are so loud that it sounds like i have wheel bearings going bad. Some of the best tires I have ever owned (especially on a 1st gen legacy) were generic no name tires. BTW, I saw the pics of emily in the wagon thread....she looks beautiful to me no matter what!

Today at the JY I saw a (85,86,87 whatever) gl-10 wagon with dig dash. Yeah nothing special right.... BUT.... you know that cubbie hole down below your radio...well on this one there was gauges in it. SERIOUSLY....FACTORY GAUGES in it. It was for oil pres. and volts. Trust me it wasn't some sort of add on aftermarket crap it was the real deal. Anyone ever seen something like this? I wish I had a camera phone sooooo bad today. Anyone even have something like this? Should I grab next time I'm there?

is that the wagon that says tonka on it? if so he still has it (was at carlisle this past show)

security questions....ideas

just kick the door open and pull the trim for the a-pillar and use one of those testers that has the pointy probe on it. poke the wires till it lights up. -

I lost track here but did anyone answer your ques. about the wires to the dome light? If I remember correctly (been a bunch of years) the wires run down the a-pillar on the drivers side. I tapped into them back in the day for my alarm system. I really like the razorblades though.... thinking. you know my friend had a jeep once that had a remote alarm. when it went off it paged you and you could come out with a baseball bat and "serve justice" he did too once or twice. -

but what about the driver/drivers????? Are they going to be any good on the dirt? -
I like it heavier b/c I feel it lubicates better. I also consider most of my driving as "severe duty" so 5w30 doesn't cut it in my book. I know what you are saying about a constant temp. but I feel your motor is going to work a little harder when you are in southern Utah and the outside temp gauge says 117* going 80 mph as opposed to 65 on a PA freeway in 40* temps.....but that is just my opinion.... Brian: yeah I go to him...was just there today at 2:30
