  1. quick update on this.... he is up and running. his coil died. I was on my way to to help him out and he went and bought a coil before I got up there. She was purring like a kitten last I talked to him.
  2. the refrence to a vigina kinda makes me horney... seriously though....I'll never look at another the same way again..... and maybe even feel a little excited when i do from now on.... ohhhhh yyyyaaaaaaaahhhhhhh.
  3. Welcome and congrats. on the subaru! I can't help you out with some of you questions but I can say that a full electric subaru sounds interesting. Good luck and please post some pics if you have them (before and after) I'm sure Paul (moosens) and subaru3 will pop in to give you some info. These 2 are pretty world class knowledgable guys on the gen 1's.
  4. stop bickering about DRL. we have been down this road before....let the dead horse alone would you.
  5. if you take the mirror and tilt it up (just like a manual mirror does when you have the little lever) it would darken it for you....and I thought I was lazy.
  6. not too shabby.....let me think about that.... where is your shop at??? I know NJ but otherwise????
  7. I am going to look into having a shop do the work. The issue that the one board member had where he broke the tensioner mount scared me a little to be honest.... that and the fact that I don't even have a shread of time to do it. not to mention that lately everything I do to the soobs takes 3x as long as it should for really no reason other than sucking really badly.... I got a quote from becker in allentown and one from steve moyer. i am leaning toward moyer baised on what was said by another board member. I am not even going to offer the job to Lancaster Co. Motors...I've been rubbed the wrong way there for the last time now. I'd call and complain but they really don't give a sh#& so why should I.... (can't tell that I am a little frustrated with them )
  8. a little background quick.... Chevy trailblazers have problems with blowing tail lights.... My folks own one of these beasts. My dad had a bulb blow so he decided to replace it with an LED unit from the parts store. He only did one bulb (figuring the other side will die soon) and the difference is very noticable and not in a good way either. He is planning on putting an incadesent back in ASAP. Just my $.02
  9. is that with new cam/crank seals, waterpump, thermostat, and new fluid? The thing that sucks is that it needs atleast 1 wheelbearing and with all the noise it makes...2 is a very realistic possability. Thank God i have some subaru bucks to help lessen the blow a little....
  10. ok here is what I found and I don't know if it will help but..... back when my 83 wouldn't start here is what I learned.... key on but no crank will make a small pulse but no flow motor cranking will make small pulses pump will not continusly run if the motor doesn't start and lastly..... are you sure you have it timed right....i thought I did but I was dead wrong. Made a disty adjustment and she fired right off. 90* will make you really scratch your head.... Keep in mind you are not going to have hellish flow from the pump...it is an electric pump on a carb engine...i think its specs. are 2-5 lbs. not 60 lbs. like on an fi engine or even more on a diesel but I digress. Keep at it...I scratched my head pretty good till i got mine to run.... and Glen was a big help with mine.
  11. there was some guy selling a t-belt set and tensioners on ebay as a package...might want to take a min and look on there. I believe it was $64.
  12. bolt gaskets for on the valve covers Corn? maybe a new toilet flusher?
  13. car has 137k on it. I hate to say it but I think you guys are most likely right... uggghhhh:banghead:
  14. popped the cover off the DS t-belt area to look at the belt and I found that the belt isn't cracked that I can see but it has rub marks on the top side of the belt. The belt definatly looks like it has been there a little while but I am really unsure of just how long. I saw a line going across the top of the belt so I figured it is an alignment mark but the wear on the top has me puzzled. Do you all think this sounds normal? Replace or let it ride for a little while? I don't know any history of the car and I have only had it about 1300 miles. I want the thing to be dead a$$ reliable for the winter so..... what would you do? I really don't want to pony up the $$$ if I don't have to... Car is the impreza in the sig. (since it is the only thing I have that has a t-belt on it.)
  15. I don't want to steal this guys thread but I will anyhow... I have a buick v6 3.8 RWD motor here at home that is days away (saturday maybe) from the scrap heap. if anyone wants to do this on the east coast speak up now. Cost is free but if you are a giving person I would enjoy a 6 pack and even help you load it... speak now or forever.... Offer stands to the west coast too but you would be nuts to take it....
  16. from what I understand..... on the new cars (05 and up) the awd system can sense if there is a major difference in wheel speed and if it doesn't like it it will automatically disengage the affected drive train to save itself. I read someting like this somewhere but I can't remember where I read that. This is only the auto trans. and AWD combo and not the MT awd combo. that thing about the sti is pretty funny....did they include a 2nd jack or do you have to jack the back first and basically force more weight onto an already flat tire and possably damage the rim? I know the engineering of the subarus will hopefully never be as bad as GM but I still find myself doing this from time to time....
  17. I do exactly what calebz does....and funny you are talking about this.... I got parts for my impreza and my 83 2 weeks ago at the dealer. He asked what model car I had....I said gl. and he said no what model, and I said GL. He looks it up in the computer and says to me...its a Loyale. I laughed and said the loyale didn't exist for at least 5 or so years.... Taking the part with you has been golden. 83 rear brakes shoes at pepboys....not a problem when you have the old ones.... I also love when the dealer can't find a part b/c you don't have your vin handy....I once asked if they didn't know how to look it up any other way... Even at the dealer asking: "do you have a clutch cable for an EA-81 car" (I did this b/c my 86 was a hatch) and the guy looked at me and went "HUH?" ughhhh
  18. car had about 3 gal. in it when it started and when I got home that day I filled it up. Tank has about 40 miles on it now and still doing it. Dry gas isn't a bad idea though.... Keep em comming folks.... Gary: you have a new PM on xt6 from me.
  19. just as the title says..... car has 137k on it. It got a new fuel filter on sunday and the airfilter is fairly new. the plug wires look fairly new but are definately not new (at most a year old i'd say) and the plugs are NGK's that look fairly fresh but not new either. I have only had the car about 1k miles. here is what it does... I am driving along and it is just fine but if I get to a small grade and give it a little it will buck and backfire and spit and sputter if I give it a lot it gets more violent...it doesn't matter what gear I'm in (stick) it will do it and it seems not to be really RPM dependant either. I had it doing it at 5.5k tonight just as I have had it do it also at 2.5k tonight. The tach needle never jumps or anything like that it is perfectly rock steady and of course no CEL either. Car is a 1995 1.8 impreza coupe AWD stick if you didn't gather that already... I'm wondering about ground issues but I am not going to jump head first into that unless someone else thinks that might be the issue. Please help.....I am about to do this... since the subaru's haven't been treating me nice here lately.... you know that liberty CRD is looking nicer and nicer everyday here lately....
  20. if ya put a K40 on the Lambo you better use the lip mount b/c I think the thing will be so damn fast that it will blow a mag. mount off the car (not to mention it is fiberglass too though)
  21. I love that place.... I haven't been there for a few years. I'm not too much closer to that place than you are Have a blast up there...that place is a sight!
  22. I think the 02 is a 4.11 and the other is a 4.44 ratio... don't hold me to this though.
  23. it will bolt up. the only diff might be the rear diff ratio. Get that from the doaner too and you should be good to go.
  24. so the turbo ones are fatter but the splines and length and all that crap is the same?
  25. I think my front axle is going bad. Car is 83 EA81 FWD 5speed. Are the axles the same as a 4wd? What interchanges with these axles? TIA:D
