Low voltage reading, but voltage seems ok?
subeman90 replied to TROGDOR!'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had an EA-81 do that to me once...it was the fact that the alt. had moisture in it (snow) and it was messing it up. Once it dried out it was fine though. Got a wet alt.? -
If (WHEN) i fail my PA state inspection....
subeman90 replied to aprilspies's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a PA inspection license: You will fail. There is no sticker issued for a 2 week period or anything like that. Fix your car then go get it inspected...otherwise you could get charged twice for the inspection (if you take the car and leave and bring it back later to get it to pass) -
it was super good time.... Don't worry subie94 I don't think this will be the last of the parties.... hopefully.

If everything goes well..... I hope to have my newly aquired xt there next year. We did have a guy who was with the MG group park his XT6 with us but I guess he left before it got in any pics. Ben had his 6 there on fri. evening but had to let it home on sat. so he could drive the truck with the SVX racer on the trailer.

I'll gladly bring something. Please PM me some ideas and we can discuss. Nobody is expecting you to do this all on your own.... Give me your # too so I can call if I get lost in the big metroplois of Danbury or if I want to talk dirty to you..... errrr I mean if I get lost that is... Waiting to hear.... -
Please Talk me Outta this
subeman90 replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
please don't sell it....you'll regret it later (trust me on this one. I sold a project once and wish I still had it) You know 2 people can live together cheaper than one can....hint hint. -

HMMMMm a thought indeed! I'll have to look into that option too. -
Copied from the XT6.net board.... First and formost: I want to say a huge thank you to benebob for hooking me up with a hopefully great car. I got a call for him today about a guy who stopped at our tent at Carlisle and offered a car up forsale. I have learned quickly about jumping quickly because these things get snapped up really quickly.. It is an 87 turbo AWD 5 speed xt. It is grey and silver and has about 103k on it. It is all there and has a working air suspension and *big grin* digital dash...and a huge factory sunroof too. I got it for $250 plus transfer fees. It is nearly rust free except for a spot on the lower rocker panel (not bad though) and a small spot in the frame (not a big deal but I need to do something ASAP so it doesn't get worse) Of course any of you are going..."hey that is too damn cheap...where is the catch here" well it has a trashed EA-82T in it. The owner said he was changing the oil in it and he got more antifreee out of the oil pan than oil was in there. So I have a door stop for an engine but the rest is pretty good. Pics to follow as soon as they become available (was dark till I got home with it on the rollback) So for now I am lets just hope it doesn't do this to me Also to top it off....I had michelle steer it while I winched it on the truck....she's hooked already! Hopefully we can count this as another one saved from a certain death.

I don't know if this holds true for the Baja but when I bought the forester in 04 it said on the window sticker that it had mirror defrost. Well I couldn't find the button so I asked the salesman when I picked it up and he said they eliminated the button and integrated the system into the windshield deicer (the grid that is at the wipers) Try it!

CRAP! sorry to hear dude.:-\

Imp OB don't have LSD's. I know this because I own one. but i bought one to put in someday. Look at Legacy OB wagons....some of them do and some don't. Newer ones 2000-2004 have them standard I think but the older ones IIRC it was an option that was in a package with heated seats etc. Check upper level option package Foresters too. If you find a newer body forester than any one that is an XS or XT will have the LSD. The "x" model does not. If you can find your diff ratio the if you are lucky enough to find an LSD with the same ratio it could be as simple as a straight swap. if you find one with a different ratio you need to swap out the gears in the rear diffs. You don't need to mess with the front diff at all. Smarter people than I can help you with that project.

my 05 OBS doesn't have side bags (which is fine with me). Side note: are you selling or parting out the OBS? If so i call dibs on the wheels.... One a side note: I like my 2.5. I like it everytime I get in the car. I wish I had a job that kept me in that car for 8 hrs a day. Everytime I get out of the car I smile and giggle too. Also if you guys saw how fast I was going tonight on a 2 lane back road that cuts between 2 farms in the middle of nowhere you would giggle too. I'll give you a clue....it started with a 9

Totally agree with Shawn and Paul. I lost an 85 TW once due to the auto trans and the diff swapping juice (sounds dirty doesn't it). Check NOW before bad stuff happens.... -
MAACO paint work question
subeman90 replied to SUBARU3's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You would be surprised how good of a job you can get at a regular body shop if you are just upfront and tell them you want a "Maaco" type job. I had a 79 wagon painted years ago for about $375 and it was awesome looking.... I did do my own rust work and striped it of everything I could get off of it but I left all the windows in place etc. Years ago my uncle who lived out near Altoona knew a guy who did roller jobs on cars for about $20 if you provided the paint. A guy at work has a 74 beetle that was done with a sponge brush...not too shabby when it was fresh but years later the orange is fading..... time to crack out the sponges again. -
I saw some pug caps at moosens the other wknd. and if memory serves me they are plastic. If that is the case....then a big he%% no because they will never survive the oven.
