  1. I had a 5 speed turbo trans (from a 93).... Junked it. As for the question about the dude's car...turbo wagons are all automatic in that vintage. the only turbo legacy with a 5 speed is a sedan. Matt
  2. I like the lowered hatch idea.... go for it. The RWD idea sounds cool too.. If you really wanted to get funky...get an AWD trans. (5 speed) and then you would really have something that can cut the corners. Makes me wish I had a hatch and a torch(for the springs) Matt
  3. I had an H6 in an Xt once....it was very smooth. One thing that I don't like about the new gen H6 is the fact of no manual trans....that kills it right there for me... Matt
  4. If I remember correctly...there is a screw or 2 into the side of the shift lever...remove and pull up on the "t" handle maybe? I would look at my forester for you but..... 5Speed Matt
  5. send pics.... of brat and rust to: subeman@aol.com TX, Matt
  6. While I was looking at it a guy pulled up in a Mitsu. eclips and he was looking at it too.....he said he was looking for a winter ride (no crap? really!!!) so maybe he can buy it....I think he might need it more than me anyhow As for Florida... never really thought of that...hmmm the only thing about that is there is this nice Merkur and ..... oh no here we go again. Matt
  7. They want $1300 for it....in my opinion that is a bit on the higher side....but it does have a fairly fresh PA inspection sticker and that means something atleast. I think there is a bit too much rust to believe that the sticker guy must have been a friend... I really want a brat but seriously the hard top idea is really killing it for me....if it was a t-top I would worry about the trans. later. Sigh...anyone local interested LMK. If you aren't local don't waste your time....it isn't THAT great. Matt
  8. found for sale... 85 brat with automatic and pushbutton 4wd. Brat also did not have t-tops... What gives? why no t-tops and I thought 83 was the only year for the slushbox. Is this thing a rare piece or is it just a piece of .... It has 87k on it and it has some rust....it is a former WI vehicle too! talk to me.... Matt
  9. I went to 236K in my legacy 2.2 5 speed before I cooked it due to waterpump failure.. I never used a drop of oil up to that point. Matt
  10. bought one about 2 months ago for the old forester... dealer wacked me $38 Matt
  11. There are differences... Trust me i have both. The biggest difference is the fact that you can't push it around an on ramp (the forester) nearly as fast as the OB. Also, the OB handles better because it is wider (wider is better....) and the ride is a little better too because of the bigger wheelbase. love them both though.... Matt
  12. No....benebob is saying that he thinks that the Jap made Subarus are better....well if anyone wants my .02 then I agree with him too. My OB is a US car and my wife's forester is a Jap made vehicle. Her forester has much better build quality than my OB and quite honestly I think her forester drives like a subaru...and my OB (god help me and don't strike me down for saying this) seems more like a Honda everytime I drive it. My OB was in the shop the other day and I had a 93 Legacy 2wd as a loaner...and as soon as I got in it I looked at my wife and said "now these were the glory days of the Legacy" but once again.....just my $.02 Long live the 90-94's Matt
  13. Sweet ride chief! Is is stick? Did someone inply it is a reconstructed car? If so give some details... Matt
  14. I have the tweeters in my OB. They help a lot in my opinion. I also have the tweeters in my wife's forester. They made a dramatic change in the forester. Also, I bought the tweeters for the forester on ebay.... NIB with shipping...it was under $10. No crap seriously..... Matt
  15. Funny side note: My wife who has never pop started a car thought that it also involved using the brakes..... :boohoo: aaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh Matt
  16. Long story short: Went to Walmart today and when I went to leave my OB wouldn't start. i heard the thing turning but the engine wasn't turning over.....I opened the hood and to my delight....the top nut was gone and the bottem cast piece of the starter motoer was broken off. WTF????!!!!! Thank God for it being stick and pop starting. Took the car to the dealer today (saturday) and of course not a sole in the service dept. Talked to the used car manager and told him how PO'ed I was and that the car has only 29K on it and since they were the ones that put a new clutch in it at 20K I was going to hold them responsible. Needless to say 45 min. later I was driving a 94 2wd legacy off the used car lot for a loaner. I swear some days..... Outbackless in Akron (Matt)
