  1. Did this today with the help of a friend. I got it all disconnected and then we yanked it out until I can get a engine hoist and stand NOT the original engine... the timing belt cover bolt was backwards (odd) but I guess you could say that the timing belt was replaced... Then the 4 engine2transmission bolts/nuts were all finger tight... suggests it came out.... Next: Reseal, clutch and WP/Timing belt so hopefully this has 105K worry-free miles to come! Looks like I put a lift on the front eh?
  2. Thatd be a cool app, but I figure it does it by GPS? And somehow it doesnt seem as accurate as a dyno :/ but I guess its fun and Id probably download it once I get the better phone... But license comes first... Ive heard that over 10 seconds is usual for the EA82 to reach 60, auto or manual transmission... But Ill give us some numbers of Ned.. hes a spec N Subaru... super fast.
  3. I swear it doesnt take 12 seconds for me to get to 60mph in Ned Ill do a video soon enough... I just cant drive yet :/
  4. Hopefully you can appeal it, that would really suck!! Glad youre home safe though bud.

Pretty good, still working on modding Ned, finally got a job, so hopefully things start to click in the modding department :)

What are your plans for the GL?

  5. I repainted my honeycomb grill... I dont like them haha. Ill get a later GL or Loyale one eventually, but I think they mount differently so Im not sure.
  6. I agree with Wentz912, I plan to keep my car's wheels about the same... 205/60/13 will give me about the same as my 185/70/13s.... My 195/60/15s were bigger, but I loved them and it was AWESOME to go back to 13s... I felt like I had a turbo cuz I wasnt pulling the bigger wheels... I couldnt burn the 15s into 3rd like I can with 13s. But, much respect for making it more original than modded... full restore in future
  7. Curious as to why you dont like them though.... Pugs are usually sought after.. and the EA81 is a GREAT improvement...
  8. Id say depending on condition and if you include the lugnuts they are anywhere from 175-250 and if they have good tires + $$$ Why dont you like the EA81 and D/R? My 84 DL had an EA71 and I hated it.... GD and I swapped in an EA81 outta a BRAT and I LOVED that thing... buried the speedo (85+) which I hadnt been able to do with the EA71. Mine was 5 speed FWD though, not 4 speed d/r
  9. Welcome! Youre in Portland eh? Once I get my license back, I need to have a meet going, I hang out with PNW Subaru Enthusiats on Facebook but they are mostly newer generation people, and sadly, NED cant keep on the cruises But I know of people that dont care WHAT Subaru it is, just as long as its a Subie that are cool to chill with
  10. To me those are just wagon wheels and dont count
  11. I have been meaning to ask him, I just want to have a better concrete schedule on it... GOOD NEWS (TO THOSE READING THIS) I HAVE AN OFFICIAL JOB... Bring on the upgrades
  12. I thought Jackmans had no issues on EA82s since hey were flat-spokes?
  13. Maxima alternator upgrade on hold, alternator died before/after install... gotta try again These are in progress too, gonna sand them or find a place to blast them and then paint them gunmetal in color On the car: Still lifted on the jack, forgot to lower it, and the tire is a 185/80/13 so the car would look WAYYY higher than itll ever be... Im thinking of talking to a Datsun buddy of mine, hes got 205/60/13s and I think those would look, handle pretty amazing compared to my current 175/70/13s
  14. I havent heard from him yet, I am back and forth on Facebook with him... let me check
  15. Fresh install. The 2.2 heads have HLAs in them and it was just started today, as its running off a battery charger, the alternator isnt hooked up yet Should he just run it? Several people are saying rod knock or bottom end noise, but I feel like its just really loud lifters, previous engine that the lifters were in, the drainplug came out and was run dry til it seized.
  16. First gen legacy with frankenmotor: 2.5 with 2.2 heads... Has this loud noise, pretty sure its just lifter tick... But wanna check... The owner says it sounds more top-end noise but the engine was rebuilt. Do the EJ22s need dime spacers under the lifters for the DELTA CAM torque cams? Could that be the source of this noise? https://www.facebook.com/blood.n.rugby#!/photo.php?v=392590934120113 Please let me know if it doesnt load, I shared it off a private group posting... facebook is stupid screwy lately VIDEO FIXED AS OF 632PM
  17. Wheres the 87 GL pics Ive got an 86 sedan
  18. Good :) I was gonna say itd be best to get the stock one cuz aftermarkets usually arent reliable... Ive had great luck with my Bosch EA82 one though, but its gonna go bye bye... got the Nissan upgrade ;)

  19. heres one from awhile ago: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24708 Also, if you ever subscribed to it or posted in it, you can find it in your posts or in your USER CP
  20. How far is it in the ignition? I would just use needle-nose pliers or tweezers... Or if you have some patience and its REALLY in there... Put some super glue on the end of an old flat-head screw driver and stick it to the key, use a blow dryer for about 3 mins on it (or find a way to support it so it doesnt fall) When its dry, pull it out... Worked in my 85 DL and 68 Buick Skylark... just dont gob the glue on or you can get it stuck to other pieces and then youre really in trouble
  21. WITH the dual range lever... Some 4WD transmissions are pushbuttons in the 80s too... mainly the turbos
