My dad (and then later me) would wedge the 64oz cups from 7-11 in between the seat and the brake handle for years... worked great. The downside was stopping hard and having to hold the drink.... but that was in a 1992 Loyale with the high rise console... In my 86 GL, the D/R handle is there... sooo it gets seat-belted in or the passenger gets to hold it

I dont even use mine unless its more than a couple inches thick so I dont screw anything up

what color center caps?
92_rugby_subie replied to feelinminnesota's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You could polish up the chrome and put any sticker you want... Stubies_Subie was looking for Subaru stickers that he could put in his, but he also found other ones... eBay is a great place... but Id also ask Stubies_Subie about those extra stickers. -
Some junkyards have tire deals... We bought 4 tires for our legacy, 185/70/14 buy 3 get 4th free So 50 and they all had 80+% tread I would do that or not run in 4WD and get a new tire and put it on the back... I have 3 Metric SE-H and 1 other one... but I dont run in 4WD unless Im in deep mud

Is your alignment good? Wheels balanced correctly? My sisters Legacy vibrates but its cause she hasnt balanced her tires yet

Anyone thought of doing the Frankenmotor with the H6's? Theres the 2.7 H6, 3.0 H6, 3.3 H6 and now 3.6 H6... Would it produce the same "power gain" for these motors as the 2.5/2.2 combo? I tried looking it up, but havent really found much, maybe Im using the wrong search terms.... I think itd be awesome I want an H6 in my garage someday...

15 Pugs tire shop would not mount them
92_rugby_subie replied to SuperBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This will go on forever... I had 195/60/15s on the same wheels, never had a problem. Im gonna go with the majority here, youve got 390mm wheels. -
EA82 oil pressure guage.
92_rugby_subie replied to Rust's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Run your own guage. To be honest, the stock ones arent necessarily "accurate" like the aftermarket ones can be. Its just a rough estimate. -
Coilover sleeves from a 90's honda civic apparently fit with EA82 rear tophats... I was a little... err about putting Honda parts on a Subaru, but I do want MOAR LOW lol so I guess if I hide them behind tires I should be good
-
You MAY rub... I had 195/60/15s on my 86 GL with no lift. Filled the wheel wells up really nicely... but if I hit a bump too hard, I would rub. Mine were also street "performance" tires so they may not have the height that yours do.

Thats pretty cool I for one, like seeing the cars that typically get lowered, get lifted, and vice versa. The stack is something I wouldnt have expected haha

Opinion on Headgaskets
92_rugby_subie replied to wentz912's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Youve got a few options like you have mentioned. I have a bad HG on my car. Found someone who wanted to buy the motor and have me do the headgasket on it for X amount. I will then use that X amount to put extras on another motor I have that Im going to rebuild for my car. The HG on EA82s look easy, I watched GD do it, and after one time, believe I can do it on my own with no troubles. I though, am a fan of removing the engine for this procedure. Easier to keep track of bolts easier to clean parts, and you can inspect anything else that may need to be done. If youre going to have it out, do it right. Just my .02 but I think you should wait for the longblock, and fix it the HG on that motor, then swap them out in a few hours (really, as an amatuer I think I can get my EA82 out in about 30-45 minutes) -
