Its the completely stock fan. I dont have A/C on my car, never really wanted it either... A/C to me is Windows down at 65 mph haha. The fan is pretty big. You can get an EA81 fan on the empty spot in my radiator... Much thinner. And I will put one on there when I swap in a rebuilt EA82, just to keep things extra cool. Have it wired to a switch that I can turn it on in the summer on hot days while in traffic kinda thing.

Nice Subie! Youre pretty local Id say... cant be that far from Portland Oregon Gotta agree with the other members, from what Ive read, when the car stops moving in every gear... its probably the axles... can you get the front end on jack-stands and put it in FWD and have someone "drive" it? If you see the axle spinning but not the hub its stripped splines... Are the axle nuts tight? Also, is EVERY gear out? Even the 4WD Hi/Lo? A lot of people have the problem with the axle being stripped out but they can still move it in 4WD, it just becomes a RWD vehicle... This can happen with only 1 axle causing the problem. I too own an 86 GL carbed with the 5 Speed D/R mines a sedan though. Do you still have the old hitachi carb or have you gone WEBER -
Have you gone out and tried to disengage the 4WD again? Its raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock (is that the expression) here in Oregon... perfect for some 4WD... I might go out to grimms fuel and mob around in the mud soon ;D PS. That is pretty cool. Now if he builts an outback lego car around it... id love it more haha

You probably could... cant see why not... They are 6X1.25 IIRC. Heres my fan. Stock, electric fan that is temperature controlled. Comes on when Im about 3/8s up the gauge and keeps the car cool. I *sorta* panic when it hits the 1/2 mark. Heres the pulley. Pretty sure its 6X1.25 bolts... Dont see why they couldnt be replaced, but mines an 86 GL, I dont have A/C so I dont have the secondary fan anyway. Again, I recommend asking Stubies_Subie to send you/post some pictures of his dual fan set-up in his 1991 Loyale.

They arent exactly screws IIRC, more of "all thread" type of bolt.

You need the pulley to have some screws to attach it to the water pump, so that your accessory belts can still drive the water pump, so that it functions. GD just cut the stock screws down a bit on "Stubies Subie"s Loyale... if you ask him he can get a picture of it for you.

GD wires in... an EA81 fan in place of that secondary fan that the Loyales have because its such a pain to remove... I only have one fan in my EA82 and I stay plenty cool but I may install another one with the rebuilt EA82 since I will drive it hard.

Yea, with my 5 speed d/r at 3K Im at I think 65-70 maybe 70 at 3K and 75 at 3500... *Thinks* Damn city driving, I barely see 60 anymore... TIME FOR A ROAD TRIP!

I gotta say though, for simplicity the EA82 is better... in a simplistic way the carb EA82 is best. I look at my own engine bay (carb EA82), the SPFI EA82, the EJ22 and the EJ22T and the EJ25 and think to myself "I have room in my engine bay, whereas the others do not, its cramped" Its not as cramped as GDs friends 300zx but... still. -
You have SPFI... Why would you go back in time and do a Weber swap? I mean dont get me wrong, I love my Weber, and Id take it over SPFI UNLESS I already had SPFI, then Id just leave it.

Unless you set-up the GL... I dont regret buying NED at all... I think hes a great car... I will swap the motor eventually but its doing just fine... even with a bad HG, but Ill rebuild the EA82 and then run it until the swap and then resell it. -
I had this happen when I first owned my car with the 5 speed... a buddy of mine wanted to see if his EA82T was quicker than my EA82 off the line and so I decided to put it in 4Lo to get a quicker launch, but forgot that I had it in 4WD and turned a corner and bound it up and couldnt get it into 4HI to continue at normal speed and couldnt get it to disengage, I had to clutch in and slam the shifter down, got it to go disengage, felt a thump from the rear but I was in 2WD again, but thought Id broken something.. checked the road, no broken parts, and went offroading and 4WD was working just fine... so Im good but still scary stuff

Youre experiencing the binding from being in 4WD on a dry surface... obviously if youre going up to 70 and taking a corner, youve either got a lot of... err guts... or youre on dry pavement and probably frying a transmission. The 4speed d/r is a pretty fragile transmission, a lot of people opt for the 5 Speed d/r swap. Get the car in a straight line, maybe down a block or something and drive it straight forward... try to push the lever down. Try it in reverse as well if going forward doesnt work... You might have to go find some dirt/mud or someones yard for legal purposes, make it your own yard and drive it around, then drive it straight and try to disengage it... you might need to put some great force into it eventually, and if you fry the transmission... the 5 speed is a lot stronger you should get one and swap it in

Stubies Subie on here bought a Loyale wagon... he liked the body style... Yes the motor has some issues, but it is still a good motor if you take care of it... if you want to start your car and go and never check the fluids, never perform maintenance... please dont buy a Subaru lol. He listened to the voices of advice on here that told him to buy a Legacy wagon, but ultimately loved the looks of the Loyale... after some work and... lots of money his EA82 is doing really good and he enjoys it. I myself drive a 1986 Subaru GL sedan, 5 speed D/R. Its a EA82 with a Weber 32/36 DGEV carb on it and I love it.. I have no problems with hills or anything, even when I ran 195/60/15s (15" Peugeot Alloys) I still didnt notice a drop in power UNTIL I sold them and got back some 13" steelies on 175/70/13s... Now I notice I can chirp the tires into 3rd gear under heavy acceleration... So there is some power loss in bigger tires, but it depends on how you want to do it. My future plans involve a suspension lowering, bigger motor, AWD conversion, 5-lug swap, etc. Others involve lifting and offroading, Ill buy a beater car for that, personally I think my car is too nice to beat the snot out of I didnt read other replies in depth, but I did notice your question about dropping in the EJ22... The EJ22 requires a custom adapter plate from SJR and stripping an EJ22 wiring harness and re-wiring it into the EA body... not a simple task, but I myself will eventually learn the wire stripping part of it... but Ill end up paying GeneralDisorder to swap the EJ22T or FrankenMotor into my car and wire it in down the road. -

Mine doesnt even take 15 mins to warm up... like 5 mins maybe 10 if its snowing.

My 1992 Loyale never started and went to 2K rpms then dropped down... always to about 1200 rpms then down to ~800. However my carb EA82 requires me to hit the gas, crank ot... it'll fire up to 2000 rpms and slowly climbs to 3000rpms. At 3000rpms ill hit the gas and the rpms drop to ~800 and car is ready to drive... I thought SPFI was better than carb because you start and go but seems like other spfi cars have to warm up exactly like my car does. *I apologize for punctuation, randomness or spelling as I'm on my mobile, in bed on Vicodin from wisdom teeth surgery... I just miss my USMB fix*

I would go, but I still want to get my feet underneath me before I buy myself a beater Subaru to go offroading... Id do mild mud runs with Ned if I can get information in advance I love offroading, or at least what Ive done with it so far.

If this is the vehicle I remember from WCSS12, the gas tank leaks at about 3/4 tank right? So filling it isnt an option. -

Incorrect. GD knows exactly what he is doing and now the car is running just like it should.
My EA82 runs perfect... why? GD and I have worked on it. As he has stated, my knowledge comes from his knowledge and the reason my car runs so well is because of him and I have been working on it as well and it still runs nice.
Unfortunate about your computer being hacked, but I have no clue where you live and therefore wouldnt be able to hack it, sorry, toss your blame elsewhere.
