I need new tunes....assistance please

+1 on amping speakers. In my sisters 2005 Scion TC they have all four speakers amplified by an under the seat amp and the subwoofers in the back on an amp, and even on volume 10 you hear that coming a few blocks away... 20 will damn near blow your ear drums... Whereas I have to put my stereo to 40 to drown out people... I want my subwoofers back haha -

Im sorry I had 2 10" Lightning Audio subwoofers in my Mitsubishi that although cheap and useful for being cheap were REALLY cheap in comparison to my Rockford Fosgates that I put in my 86 GL. The thump with the RFs was Louder and a helluva lot more clear. -

There are threads that have this info... Dont go with anything super cheap if you want a real upgrade. I think suffice system for a Loyale would be: Decent head unit (Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood etc) 10" Subs (dual is more than suffice) Good brand, no "lightning audio" or anything, had these, they sucked. 4 new speakers - I believe 6.5" speakers but Ill be corrected if Im wrong. Decent amp - Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, Phoenix gold is my favorite brand. Youre in Beaverton Oregon? Have you seen a dark blue EA82 sedan with a loud exhaust speeding around? I try to wave at the Loyales since... well the WRX guys are clueless flat-bills and dont think I drive a Subaru -

T2B - I really hope you stick around... There may be lots of people who think the car isnt useful or what not, but useful or not, its flippin kick rump roast. Just ignore them... Stick around so I can show off your pics... its a cool car. Nice house and congrats! Thanks for your service! -
No but GD did

Well Stuart I wish I could give you amazing compression numbers for Ned... but I dont think so... BEST numbers I got (first few times I got lower because I didnt crank long, sound of the motor made me lose track in my counting, had to reset) 1 -145 2 -125 3 -155 4 -100 The 2/4 is probably because of the HG leak :/ Its weird though because Ned runs like a top, tons of spunk and he drives really nicely.

Poll: what color to paint wheels?
92_rugby_subie replied to tractor pole's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Deener, I like it. Tractor Pole - For those wheels... I would go with a bronze on the maroon car... It looks pretty decent... Black looks amazing on maroon cars, but not sure how it would look on those particular wheels... -
2.2 into a '83 GL? Where do I get the adapter plate?
92_rugby_subie replied to sasquatch86's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
GLs 1985-1989. Look for mudflaps in the front and back (4WD) and the D/R lever in the vehicle. A GL-10 will most likely be a Pushbutton 4WD which I suppose is suffice if they put it behind an EA82T... BEFORE the engines blow, they make 115hp, the EJ22 is only ~ 20hp more. I dont know if a DL would have it... -
Subaru must have been nuts!!!

I generally shift at 3K if Im trying to preserve gas... otherwise 4-5k... sometimes 6K shifts all day long. -

Utilize the search function... trust me... youll get bashed if ya dont... Okay maybe not that extreme... but at least flamed As for preference... Youll probably want fuel injected, so 1988-1989 GL... Dual range 4X4 is preferred over pushbutton. YOU CAN swap the Pushbutton out and put a D/R in... theres info on here about that. The Loyales came with push-button (1990-1994) and are all of course fuel injected. If you go with a carb'd Subaru instead, definitely think of a Weber in your near future... As for lifts, tire sizes, etc you need to read the FAQs and stuff... theres SOOOOO much information on them haha.

Why yes! I can I should find a way to get it stickied, a lot of people ask. Heres how to INSERT a picture, rather than ATTACH a picture. 1 - Get a photobucket account 2 - Upload your pictures to Photobucket 3 - Resize to 800X600 or 640X480 (that way you dont gotta scroll to see the whole picture) 4 - Look for the link code in the image below. 5 - Copy link code (IMG code). 6 - Start new thread, Reply to Thread, Message, etc 7 - Copy the IMG code into the message. 8 - Preview Post to ensure that the picture came in correctly... 9 - Edit if necessary 10 - Submit Reply Note: here is a 640X480 picture. -

Project Idea (subaru 1986 GL)
92_rugby_subie replied to davidspolitano's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
An automatic 86 GL... carb? With the stock hitachi and 3AT that thing has got to be gutless as can be... Ive got a 5 speed d/r 4X4 and a Weber... I bet my car would feel like an STI to you... and mines got a stock motor for the time being. Plan to spend some money. Dont turbo it... Read on the EA82T... Its a terrible motor for someone our age... Unless you plan to rebuild it, upgrade the cooling system and baby it... youll piss off your girlfriend pretty quick... I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE on babying the car and pissing off the girlfriend. Ive thought of the EJ22T in my 86 GL a few times, but I might just go Frankenmotor/AWD/5Lug swap etc on mine. Go with a EJ22 or Frankenmotor as GD suggested... Speak to Renob123 AND GD... The Frankenmotor Brat was built by them... ~180hp and AWD with no turbo. Renob123 should be able to give you a rough estimate, but some labor/parts excluded since he used GDs shop and expertise throughout the build. -

This looks pretty awesome! keep up the good work! -
There are a few things Id like to do with your .02... That I shall not mention... I guess your concern is cool... but if any Subaru were gonna have a problem with GDs method of sealing the oil-pan... It would be mine. I bashed in the oil pan, did my best to straighten it out and resealed it with the engine still in the car and I drive my car like I stole it. 1st to 2nd gear shifts are 90% of the time 5K+ rpms and all other gears at around 4K. I dont have the TOD, I dont have low oil pressure, I dont experience ANY issues, and I have a leaking headgasket... When I do the engine swap, JUST for you, I will pull my oil pan off, gut it and see if "the suction and abrasion" caused any issues in my oil pan. Doubt it will though.
