  1. Ya know. Get a ride. Come hang with us, get some ideas, meet some cool people, put names to usernames, to faces and vehicles. Have a beer, or two, or three, or compete with Mike on his beerstaff Youll have a great time... Subaru powered or not. I came in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe last year, still had a great time!
  2. Create a photobucket. Upload your photos. Try to resize to 800X600 or 640X480. Copy the IMG code Paste that code into a Reply to Thread box like any other message.
  3. Sweet guys! Thanks so much! Im gonna be doing this on my car and a buddies car soon so I needed to know what we should look for in the junkyards.. And then I had to know the steps for when I do it... Itll be my first 2 5 lug swaps and they are both EA82s so it should just be the same for both of them
  4. Does anyone have a 5 lug swap write-up for an EA82 sedan and wagon? I saw a little of Pooparu's on his EA81 hatch... I just wanna know whats needed parts wise - (for junkyard searching) and if a general step-by-step write-up exists. Note: I did some searching, and it keeps skipping "5, lug, up" and keeps "EA82, swap, write"
  5. I just removed my axle from the transmission. I recommend using the punch to to pound out the roll pin. I had my hub all disconnected from the strut and control arm so it was easy to pull the axle off. I recommend doing this step as well... Remember... they only go on one way... if it doesnt look right, rotate it 180* and try again.
  6. The grinding slashing sound *could* be a wheelbearing. Take a look around... A big question should be WHY is that tire so chewed up... Looks like something is cutting it. Did you check your castle nut? That should be torqued on hella tight... Like push with your weight... and then keep pushing (not literally, I think its 150 ft lbs) but make sure its tight. Since youll be looking at it anyway, make sure that the washer isnt damaged(has a lip or groove) and replace it if necessary.
  7. Congrats! Glad to see that over 300k and another scoob is chuggin along... or purrin along as the case may-be
  8. Glad youre okay... And at least the car is okay, gotta replace carpet someday anyway, might as well be soon lol
  9. Also looks like something is cutting into that tire...
  10. Lift up the rear of the car and rock the wheel... Could be a bad wheel bearing. Could be a loose axle nut. Could JUST need an alignment.
  11. Home from GDs. Got new inner tie-rods from Discount Import for 25.02 because RockAuto sent me 1986 GL Hatch (EA81) inner tie rods (female) and tie-rod ends (not as curved). Probably my fault for not double and triple checking :-/ Ned has new inner tie-rods drove really nicely. Steering wheel isnt straight now (probably my mistake?) but seemed great. New alignment next week. Passenger wheel bearing done too, driver side probably tomorrow.
  12. Dont thank me tons of people have done it on here, and Ive read it was a common problem that people just flick it. Im glad, my car, I have to push my knob in and turn it to get my parking lights on with the key not on... So I just dont "bump" it. glad you didnt waste a whole weekend! Enjoy your weekend!
  13. I think that JacksonRally car is pretty cool... but not worth outvoting McBrat... I think its because most of those are teenagers that are more impressed with newer cars
  14. So buy it elsewhere from another dealer. If I can get it for $65 here then ship it to you for like $15 then you save.
  15. Your corner lamps and tail lights probably are on because of the switch above the steering wheel for the parking lights... this has happened A LOT in the past for other people... probably got bumped... Check that.
  16. If it comes back... Replace your oil pump and gasket (again, sorry) and also send your lifters to be rebuilt. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=113431 this is GDs experience with my car and the TOD... It came back unfortunately after the car hadnt been driven for awhile, but a trip to the gas station and a trip home... I gave it 3 6K RPM shifts and when it got home and idled in the driveway, I didnt hear a single ticking.
  17. Wanna do mine in #646
  18. Thats pretty awesome I had this kinda idea awhile back, but I was thinking of doing a 2 inch lift and better tires and trying to figure out how to get it to have its own braking system so that it could go "anywhere" Hope to someday see this camped out somewhere!
  19. Thats not a bad idea... Id have to get it cut to size and still look good though :/
  20. I really wanted to put plywood down, like thin plywood with the compartments cut out and hinged so they could open to leave it flat. (of course have it fit "custom" so that it looked like it belonged and then recarpet) *May still do this to my current car* I had a buddy that wrecked his 89 GL wagon (was rear ended by a dump truck) He had sound system stuff back there like youd see on MTV's Pimp My Ride. He also had a 91 Loyale that has one of the sickest gun set-ups in the rear that he uses for hunting. Ive tried to get him on the forum but when his Subaru dies, he just junks it I will try to get some photos of his set up but I doubt it, its a hunting rig and is in storage in WA the rest of the year (6 inch lift, 29s, redrilled 6 lugs, no exhaust, no tags, no windows etc)
  21. Ya know, if you were closer I could help ya but youre a bit far away Can you not see the bumper bolts? It should bolt to the frame somewhere...
  22. In the off topic section, there is one called "the ea82 is a bad engine because..." and you can read up on all the complaints/facts about these motors...
  23. You have a EA82T. :-\ Its a turbo 1.8L motor. Its... ehh... :-\ Im not going to come right out and bash your motor But if you do a search of the EA82T, you will find that most of the community here is not fond of that motor. That is not to say that you wont find people that love it It has overheating problems IF not taken care of properly and with caution. There are many things you can do to soothe the cooling system and make the process easier. For one. Keep track of your fluids. Make sure to check the coolant regularly, seeing if it is low as well as the color. If it starts getting mucky/sludgy you will have a problem. For another. Dont boost it. Keep the boost where its at, dont tinker with it. Another... Keep the cooling system maintained. As I mentioned, watch the fluids. I *THINK* you can get a two-row radiator for these that will help keep them cool. Make sure that doesnt get clogged. If all else fails and this EA82T DOES blow up... Swap in an EJ22 which is well documented on here... The EJ22 makes ~ 20hp more (youre around 115, the EJ22 is at 135) and is a FAR better engine. Hope that helps
  24. +1 that bumper is amazing. Which armorall did you use?
