  1. Dont some of the Loyales have 2 fans? 1 that is engine driven (runs all the time) and the extra that kicks on with temperature? I have one that kicks on with temperature in my 1986 GL Sedan and it kicks on when the engine reaches running temp, and will stay on if I turn the engine off but keep the key in the on position (where all the lights stay on in the dash) Yours sounds pretty normal. I wouldnt re-wire it because as pointed out - it would be a hazard while working under the hood.
  2. Well youll probably want to post this in the "new generation" section since its advice about a new gen. Why are you going 2000 and up? Why not buy another 88+ GL, Loyale?
  3. Ill watch this thread it might be pretty cool Might also be a pain in the rump roast.
  4. The high rise center console came from the Loyales with the automatic seat belts.
  5. Thanks for the bit about the copper spray on head gaskets :) I may knuckle down and do this so that my car lasts til its EJ swap.

Right now the DS head gasket leaks oil externally, no mixing or anything so I just let it drip and burn the oil haha.

  6. No, thank god it didnt... I had to pull the dent out though cuz there wasnt much room between the bottom of the pan and the sucker tube. As for RTV - No, its not necessary. But you know the pain in the neck it is to remove the old cork gaskets after the oil/fluid gets in them and the heat cooks it? You dont have that problem when you coat them in RTV... they should be on and off easily after theyve been RTV'd. I was recommended by GD to use it, and now I will recommend it to anyone doing gaskets, except head gaskets, I dont think you use it there... no experience in that part yet. But Ive used it on valve cover gaskets, differential gaskets, oil pan gaskets etc.
  7. I did mine out at GDs place after the car slid off the jack and the jack impaled the oil pan so I had to pull it off, and pound out the dents and put RTV on it and put it back on. I just did this like 2-3 weeks ago, so its still fresh in my mind haha.
  8. Im sorry Ill quit trolling the forums, Im just bored haha.
  9. Youre going to have fun Alright, I just did this on Ned (1986 GL Sedan EA82). 1 - Put the car up on jackstands. Remove the bolts from the engine mounts on the crossmember (14mm I believe) 2 - Then take a bottle jack and jack the transmission up as high as you can (disconnect the pitching stopper from the motor - 14mm ratchet and 14mm socket) This will give you some room for the back 6 bolts. 3 - Then an elbow and an extension and I believe a 10mm socket. *lots of patience* its a pain in the neck... If I dont HAVE to, I will not do it in the car again, when its only like a 1 hour process to remove the motor. 4 - You will have to manuever the oil pan off the pick up tube, it wont just drop off. 5 - When doing the gasket, make sure the surface of the motor your putting it on is clean (shouldnt be hard) but the oil pan itself will have a lot of the old gasket on it, which will probably be baked on. Youll need a gasket remover or a razor blade and patience. Make sure to Ultra Gray RTV the new gasket. a thin layer on both sides and the edges. Let it dry. This SHOULD make it far easier to remove if it ever leaks again, but I doubt that it will leak after this. Installation is just the same, but dont tighten the bolts until all of them are started at least half-way... then tighten the corners first and work your way around. Best of luck, if you need more help, let me know.
  10. Ohhhh I see I see, I remember now.. Perhaps those would be a cheaper alternative... Maybe just put Subaru or Ned or something on them
  11. 98ImprezaWA... GWAL had asked about you being there
  12. IIRC using that will lower your compression, so youll see slightly less power, but you should gain reliability...
  13. Those are nice, but I wanna stick with the urethane like 1982GL4 mentioned...
  14. I looked at those... Im not sure how theyd look on my car though... Im keeping the original color #646. What wheel would look good (Ill probably stick with Subaru wheels, like Legacy, GT, Impreza etc)
  15. I wish Id looked at this a few minutes ago... I... am speechless... $200 for universal!? http://www.rallyarmor.com/store/rally-armor-universal-motorsport-mud-flap-p-326.html My idea was to do a 5 lug swap with a white rally armor mudflap (since Ive seen red, figured theyd have white, but guess not?) and white wheels... This will definitely be a far off project... I figured like 50 for a whole kit... not 4x that :/
  16. Im running an "Interstate Mega-Tron" battery in mine. Roughly 8 inches from the tray to the top of the battery. And probably 9 inches would be the closest measurement to the top of the posts. It appears as though I would have an issue with the hood hitting the battery, but I never have. Pardon the ruler, someone jacked my tape measure it seems
  17. Anyone put Rally Armor mudflaps on an EA series vehicle? I had an idea that would be pretty awesome but Im not sure if they would fit... Do you just trim them or custom order them?
  18. Your RS is pretty awesome. Ned enjoyed the time... Made it home... Barely though... Thank god for a Subaru... blew the valve stem about 5 mins after he was parked... Glad he waited til we were home and didnt do it on the freeway at 70+ mph
  19. I had 0 problems running 195/60/15s and I believe Spencer (OBK25XT) is running 205/55/16 on his Loyale which maybe lowered... Heres his thread: I saw it on page 5 when asked about his tires... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=114061
  20. You had the two camaflouge cars right? Whats the NOPO 1 and NOPO 2 plates about? Like a company? or just North Portland 1 and 2? They were pretty sweet!

  21. I just saw an Outback 3.6R at WCSS... I like it... Heard a smooth ride, powerful motor and it handles like a dream... Pics Plans? Just DD or tasteful mods? Etc Welcome to USMB
  22. It was a great location, I really liked it. A bit windy at times, but still enjoyable. I got about 60 photos, some didnt turn out well (my camera decided it didnt like its recharge pack so I had to use my parents old one which is... different to say the least) heres the link to my album, feel free to take any pics. 7/56 photos are of my car so just ignore them. http://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af262/Rugby_boy101/West%20Coast%20Subaru%20Show%2013/ Great show. Awesome chatting with you about your RX Rob! That car is definitely an amazing machine.
