I believe I have the rear covers on mine, but not the front, Ill check and see, but I have no complaints. Its a non-interference motor so if you break a timing belt, you have to spend $60 and about an hour of your time (more or less depending on experience) to fix it. Cover-less is the best option, unless youre building a completely original show car with these... but why? Scratch that, when Im done mine will be a show car but definitely not original!

LED bulbs/brighter bulbs
92_rugby_subie replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Agreed, everyone calm down... Im not trying to cause issues. I should have just simply asked where a brighter alternative to my taillights were and kept my reasoning private. I understand they look dumb, I think blacked out lights are stupid, but with a darker colored car, I think a *little* tint isnt a bad thing.. like tinted windows, I think a little tint is cool. I want brighter light bulbs because the lights I chose are already lightly smoked, *lightly* smoked, they arent as dark as the STI up there, definitely not that dark. and yes, I want the brighter bulbs for safety because legally they have to be visible by 500 feet. -

They would be on my 1986 GL sedan, so I dont think we have the same bulbs, but its no big deal right now, I have to clean the holes out and make sure the surface is ready for butyl rubber so the trunk stops leaking. -
Umm. No. Sound familiar, but rings no bells in my young naive head.

My friend has a set of bulbs in his STI with blacked out tail lights. Because of the law though, they have to be visible by 500 feet on running lights, brake lights, reverse lights as well as turn signals. To make this possible with how blacked out they are (see pic) he said he purchased LED light bulbs that are "supposedly" 300% brighter than stock bulbs. Heres a similar pic, his has blacked out lights, probably darker than these. Has anyone used these on an older car? Like a loyale or anything? Id like these, but the guy at Autozone looked at me like I was crazy. Is this a kit, like my HIDs were? Is it a direct plug-in? :-\ Just wondering... Going to replace my cracked lens with non-cracked, non-leaking tail light assemblies and they are lightly smoked (not that dark) so to keep the car legal, I want brighter lights.. Maybe even not LED, just a brighter stock bulb?

I am on RockAuto (after getting an outrageous quote from the dealer) looking for Inner/Outer tie rods for my 1986 Subaru GL 4X4. The dealer said it was different for power steering/manual steering. I have Power Steering. Heres the part numbers I was given: Inner (universal for Left/Right) 31310GA158 Outer (right) 31320GA102 Outer (left) 31320GA112 I cant find these part numbers on RockAuto. Which RockAuto part numbers are correct? (If anyone has done this before, Im obviously not asking you to do this for me) Im looking for the cheaper the better, but dont want flimsy material thatll break on me :-\

Decided that after the 42 was removed from the Garage (see non-soob cars discussion area) I needed to clean it up for a Subaru After 6 hours of cranking Pandora in Ned and lots of trips up to the 7-11 for refills on Soda (cranking tunes and pissing people off with the cherrybomb)... Ned owns the garage again Its how it should be! I want to wire in my lonely fog light (other got smashed) in behind the grill kinda as a third eye, or buy another set and mount them below the bumper

Havent heard anything back from the owner :/ hoping we get it to fix it up and stuff. -
Post in the Wanted section: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=37 Also, you can do other alternator swaps that are really easy that give you more amperage, may make your alternator last longer if you have a heavy load on yours (driving lights, subs/amp, HIDs, extra horn, CB radio, external speaker etc) And I believe its any EA82 alternator will fit, not specifically an 86

14 years its been ours, and I was the first/only to work on it after 12 years of being in a garage, then moved to a 3/4 enclosed car port (thing was built for a Honda not a classic) and then tucked back into a garage. Brakes were frozen, engine wouldnt turn over, some rust, some glass damage, roof creased..I started working on it finally 2 1/2 years ago, freed up brakes, turned motor over and was ready to start it when realized it was tucked in next to the furnace with a full tank of gas (whose bright idea was that!?) and so I abandoned hopes to get it running and just drained the gas. Cracked my face up pretty nicely freeing the brakes up, ($800 bill later) and then 2 years later, nobody was touching it, time to let it go. The guy is awesome. Hes gonna give us rides, first chance at buy back (if he decides to sell it) hes got a blog that he will keep updated with his progress... He wants what I cant do... Id rather work on a few $400-500 dollar cars, get some real money and restore a 1968 Buick Skylark since that was my first car Loved the car, really, but its better it went to someone who will restore it. My car sold for $2300, these P14s fully restored are close to $30,000.
