I chased my buddies Impreza on I5 - was early morning, no traffic and he went 90 for about 10 miles then just floored it, I got to about 80 in 4th, then shifted to 5th and went to ~ 110 before front end seemed scary and slowed down. EA82 with Weber, pulled hard through 3rd and 4th, kinda sluggish in 5th, but thats what 5th is for.

  3. With some reading... How much would it cost to do an SPFI swap onto the 78? Would it be a SPFI EA82 in there? Would that work mated to a D/R 5 Speed? That way its start-up and go no need to warm up
  4. Ive been looking into the green 78 4X4 on Portland Craigslist for my dad. I have some qualifications that it will have to have/things done. Swaps: EA71 motor is completely disassembled, debating if I should do the EA71 or if I should swap an EA81 or EA82 into it (My dad can handle the power of these responsibly and the more get up and go it has the better, on the cheap end, thats why no EJ swap) I will be putting a Weber 32/36 DGEV on it of course! 4 Speed D/R to a 5 Speed D/R - Advantages? Disadvantages? Plug and Play? Ill probably keep the interior as it is, depending on its condition, I suppose I might swap in other seats just for comfort if I find them cheap enough. This could start to be the build thread, going to talk to the current owner more and if my dad can fund it I will pick it up, fix it and then drive it down to him. No matter what - this has to pass California State Emissions, he's moving to Monterey California and has been car-less since he gave me his Loyale in November 2 years ago so I think this is a good way to pay him back Not a bad learning experience either
  5. Probably at least 2k. Probably 3k depending on the rust conditions. I see the lifted scoobs with EJs going for 4K-5K so Id imagine that with a clean swap, 5 lug, clean interior and exterior it could fetch 2800 or so. Hell, I see Loyales with 180k miles go for 2k here... Just gotta set your price high and wait to get an offer near there.
  6. Got rid of our 1942 Plymouth Special Deluxe. We will miss this car very much, but at least its going to a safe home. Sounds like it got there safely...   8. So this is where the Brat went? Gotta say, ran like a beauty and although never rode in it, seemed like itd be a pretty fast Brat. Though of course the FM Brat is faster and I still am a virgin to it Any plans for the Brat or just DD since it was GD's itll last you forever

  12. Theres a notch right above the bottom line for temperature, I always let it warm up to that before I leave... No matter what car I drive, I thought thats why it was there... Kinda nice that I wont have to do that though I will still want an alarm
  13. Ahh true, I actually totally forgot about having to pump the gas before I start it. Itll work someday then when I do my Frankenmotor swap Can the alarm work now? I know some of the aftermarket ones are so touchy... I rolled my basketball into my neighbors ford and it went off, and I was like, really!? I dont want that, just something that goes off if someone tries to open the doors or something.
  14. Is it possible? Yes? Whos done it? Did you wire it yourself? What kit did you use? Can it be done with a Manual Transmission? No? Why not? Basically, I saw a Loyale/GL wagon on youtube today that had this "beep beep" alarm noise before the door was opened, and I have always thought that yes, my car is 25 years old, but Id still rather have it NOT broken into. So has anyone done this? I think electric start would be awesome since I have an 86 GL Sedan with a Weber, it takes some warming up and itd be awesome to not have to go outside to do it. With the alarm or keyless entry, I have power door locks already, so this should be THAT big of a deal to get it done... but Im not familiar with the wiring of the car, or the wiring of electric start, keyless entry and alarms.

Paste it into a reply to thread box, message, forum post, etc. Always preview post to see how it will look. I tend to resize my pix to 640X480 so they fit on the screen nicely. Cant wait to see pix, seems like a fun little ride, I currently own a 1986 GL Sedan with D/R 4x4 and am very happy, and this may not be super fast, but it is quite a load of fun!
