  1. Id take it I love driving in the snow. Actually I guess I wont I need new tires and an alignment before I do anything further with my Subaru but Les Schwab wants near $600 for 4 new 195/50/15s and a 4 wheel alignment. Plus they will probably try to hit me hard to fix my front suspension issue Wish I could hit the lottery.
  2. I thought the EJ22 and EJ25 were 105k belts, but oh well lol, we will have to get that done.
  3. Agreed, I love that coupe.... lol I like the rims too. Oh well lol, MW2 can only keep me up for so long, then its out I go
  4. Agreed.... I was up til 2 am with no snow... So I fell asleep and woke up to a white driveway, not bad, but oh well. Ned wanted to slide around... But since no snow, I took him to the mud today, managed to get mud on the roof this time, not too shabby.
  5. Subaru Dealer is where to go for that kind of stuff... Hoses are premolded so you dont have to cut them and stuff, I wouldnt buy aftermarket stuff for things that are NEEDED to keep my car running... Rockin an oil filter from Subaru... Always nice to see.
  6. Also since you have asked, I get about 23-29 miles per gallon depending on whether I keep my right foot off the floor board or if Im on the highway etc.
  7. Ive got a 1986 GL Sedan. D/R 4WD 5 speed. 169k miles on the EA82 with a Weber 32/36DGEV carb. I have ZERO issues with it besides a very tiny oil leak. I have taken the D/R offroad several times and I also "drive like I stole it" To me this car is bullet proof, I think an EA82 would be fine, but stay away from the EA82T... Turbo just means trouble.
  8. I have a friend that is on this board, but not a lot. He has a 1995 Subaru Impreza L Sedan. It has the EJ18 1.8L Has <150k miles AWD 5 Speed Etc etc etc. Bad thing so far: Tranny seems to grind shifting into 2nd whether going up or down gears... Could be gear oil, or new tranny? The other thing, is where do we start? Will obviously do full tune up, like radiator flush, oil change, spark plugs, spark plug wires etc. But should we put a knock sensor on there? Will ask Rick if he will give it a once over and see how it goes, but before going there, we want to do the tuneup and stuff. Mods: Car has a block heater (originally a Canadian car) 6K HIDs
  9. Your wagon is kickass It was awesome riding in it. Would you be willing to take me and my buddy when he comes up with his Impreza?
  10. Finally got some mediocre snow in Beaverton Couldnt drift on it though, wasnt slippery enough... and I TRIED lol. Heres Ned stuck under some snow And then, I made a snow man and put him in the freezer lol Pretty cool, supposedly 4 more inches before Sunday... Lets hope its drifting snow
  11. In my experience, the most common weber put on a EA subaru is a Weber 32/36 DGEV. Its an electric choke so no manual cable adjustment. They are around 300 new or Craigslist them for 50-200 Youll need the adapter plate and such but Ive owned 3 Subarus with a Weber, and they are amazing!
  12. Sounds like a good idea, Ned is still warm now, so I wont know a difference until tomorrow, but hopefully it does well... I like my Ned running and driving lol
  13. So to preserve my EA82 tranny, I want to know what going on when I start the car in the morning: I pump the gas a few times (its carbed, weber) Turn the key, it starts up, the rpms climb slowly and steadily to about 2500 (takes a few minutes) and when they reach 3000, I touch the gas and they drop back down. This is all normal. Its usually a little above the notch on the "C" for temperature I back out of the driveway (shifting is super stiff into reverse) Back into first is super stiff as well I turn down my street and accelerate, and when I shift, its stiff and (even with clutch to the floor) it grinds going into 2nd. After about 20 minutes of driving, I have no issues and its pretty loose... -Checked: Tranny fluid (gear oil) its yellowish/gold/clear and pretty thick, and full. Is this a dying tranny? Vehicle is 1986 G Sedan, 5 speed, 168.8k miles.
  14. Your assumption would be correct... But I thought head gaskets would just seep oil, not blow it all over the engine... So probably a cracked head...
  15. On some cars its not a good idea, but the EA82s love it. I believe with EJ25s you want the covers because if you wreck the belt... youre probably going to be replacing the engine soon.. I have Ned coverless, well Rick did, but I dont need covers. Today, I boosted Neds pride... I went through parking structures setting off car alarm... not on purpose... at first. I was trying to be good.. Sister had her baby tonight at 1006pm (Valentines Baby) Sadly, Im flustered... I had to maneuver around a car accident and right as I was going by, the lady opened her car door and I had to swerve a little, and just barely scraped my wheel... It would be the one I already sanded and painted, so now I gotta redo it... I was so mad...
  16. Yesterday, Ned went into the Mud against a Nissan Pathfinder. Came out even, did everything the Pathfinder did and didnt break anything. Drove the GL-10 turbo around in there too (took it lightly because, well its an EA82T) and then drove Ned home, and he felt alot more... squirrly so I took him to Les Schwab thinking, well I broke him but nope, 3 mechanics there took 1 hour and went through everything and say hes just fine... Clean bill of... health?
  17. Whew* Yea I shift: 1-2 @ ~ 5000 2-3 @ ~ 4000 3-4 @ ~ 3200 When Im on the highway, I rarely use 5th and in town Im usually only in 3rd (45 mph) I dont do the "launch off the line" starts though, I wanna be friendly to the EA82 tranny lol
  18. Well darn. I used to shift my Subarus at like 2300 rpms except for 5th I just ran as fast as I needed to, but then Rick taught me to drive like I stole it since they love to high rev... I dont wanna blow up Ned haaha
  19. His is a 1997 too Wait, so putting 87 octane (regular) in a Turbo Subaru is bad? Cuz thats what my friend runs in his EA82T and I run it in Ned but hes just a regular EA82
  20. Doubt it. I drove Ricks LGT swapped with a 2.2... That thing gets up and goes. His is an Auto though.
  21. Edit: The guy sold his on here, but check your local craigslist for Weber 32/36 DGEV. Play with the keywords a little bit... Like look in Auto Parts under: DGEV 32/36 Weber (and just read the ads carefully as this is pretty broad) Etc.
  22. I have never heard of using a non-weber carb. Best person I can think of is to ask Rick (GeneralDisorder) but Im pretty sure he will point you in the direction of a Weber, but he knows others that will work as well... Webers can be found cheap on craigslist... I got mine for $100. Brand new they are like 260. There might be one being sold on this forum. Youll have to get an adapter for one... Unless someone took it off a Subaru.
