I messaged this guy about my stock wheels and he seemed more interested in different wheels, so I told him about your wheels and he said he tried to look at the wheels, but it wouldnt let him unless he joined and asked for your contact info... I told him Id pass on his info... so his cell for call/text is 360-921-0446.

ea82 gl wagon issues, wont start or run
92_rugby_subie replied to SubyGl's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive been following this because this is what my car does... Runs like a top for a week, maybe two that it runs, then I go out one day and it just wont start... Probably isnt something specific to SPFI though since youre SPFI and Ive got a carb. -
No power to fuel pump on EA82 sedan
92_rugby_subie replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The ones under the hood. The green one was pretty loose, plan to replace it, but maybe should replace all 3 for good faith... Ned is a 1986 GL Sedan (EA82) with a Weber 32/36 DGEV carburetor. -
No power to fuel pump on EA82 sedan
92_rugby_subie replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats where it gets a little bit difficult. The dying after it the first start up will rev down (say it revved up to 2500 on the initial start-up) itll rev down to about 1000 before it dies out. The crank over, start up and die is immediate; rpms go straight to 1000, 1500 or 2000 and then just drop down again to 0 and the engines off. I see some areas talking about my relay box under the hood and saying its labeled which one is the fuel pump relay? I dont see that, I see a little black box that has RED GREEN AND BLACK labeled on it... Wires underneath, green one appears to be lose, so plan to replace it... but jiggling it doesnt affect the issue. -
Ive been having this problem off and on, where the car will start up, rev up like its supposed to and then it just shuts off and dies. Crank over again and again and sometimes itll fire on and run like its supposed to, other times, it starts up and dies almost immediately. I pulled the connectors apart on the fuel pump, stuck my multimeter up there and cranked the engine over and had once had readings in between 8-12V but today, Im not getting anything. I finally found the fuse box cover that was missing since my sister had possession of the car and saw that the one fuse I dont have in there is one labeled "FUEL ®/ (HEIGHT)" Thinking this was my problem I grabbed my fuses and stuck one in there, only to have it fall out, must be a fuse not used since I dont have height control. So far, Ive replaced fuel filter next to the fuel pump, checked the fuel pumps power (NONE at the moment). Im kinda at a loss of where to go next... Anyone know where I might be able to tackle the problem? Anyone HAVE this problem on their car?

Vague issue on GL not running
92_rugby_subie replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Giving Ned a new fuel filter... hoping its just clogged... -
Awhile ago, I had posted here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/135332-weber-carb-refusal-to-idle/ I thought there was something wrong with my carb... But I am starting to need to work more on it... The car started up and ran great for the last 1-1&1/2 weeks... after having been dead since I posted that thread... Now the problem came back, and frustrated as I need to go to work, I tore into it, took the bolts out on the shelf, pulled the connectors apart, and checked the fuel pumps power when cranking (oddly enough with the connectors off the car still tried to turn over) I got anywhere from 8-12V each time... sometimes I saw a 10, sometimes an 8 etc. Put the connectors back, car fires on to 1500rpms then dies, all within about a second. Pushing the gas doesnt help at all, doesnt seem to affect the way it starts. Im stumped... have a car meet to go to this weekend (see it in the Welcome section of this forum) but more importantly, I have work everyday this week...

Gosh itd be nice to say that kinda thing.... If one soob isnt running right Ill be there in my other one... haha. I should be there still... Ned seems to be doing okay, even when it was cold here last night he started up and drove home... Need to get a new A/C belt, this stupid Duralast one squeals BAD. -
Anybody wanna come out to Hillsboro and poke around Ned and see if we cant get him running right? He wont stay running after more than a few moments... Its like hes burning the fuel off that he gets from cranking but not continuing to get fuel afterwards... Heres a video of it - Dies after 2:10 if you wanna just skip to it

wanting to lift my 86' GL
92_rugby_subie replied to cunningseb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Youre in the right place... USMB that is... But do some searching... There is LOTS of info. Scott In Bellingham AKA SJR sells lift kits... http://www.sjrlift.com/ Theres a few other ones, BeastIDrive makes them too I believe... First off though, what 86 GL do you have? Brat? Sedan? Hatch? Wagon? Theres an offroad section here and a members rides section that A LOT of members have posted lifted EA81s/EA82s in... -
Passenger rear panel in the trunk there's the fuel lines and some wires that go up by the fuel nozzle... What are the wires? Mine were sitting in water so I lifted them and one of the wires came out.... obviously this isn't good, but what is it? Will upload picture tonight but I'm mobile and sure the picture would be massive...

Weber carb refusal to idle?
92_rugby_subie replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No engine work was done before it started, my sister was the one driving it when the problem first showed up... When the car came back into my possession I drove it for about 3 weeks without the problem coming, and now its back and has gotten worse. -
Mechanic Recommendation?
92_rugby_subie replied to Hooligan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Your best bet is Rick at Superior Subie and Import. Hes a member on the board "GeneralDisorder" and a PM or Visitor Message to him can get you his info.
