  1. My dad drove his Subies hard and experienced upper 20s, and my car yields about 36-38 on the hwy, and about 32/33 in town, and I need an oil change, so Id say something needs to be done with yours...
  2. Sweet ride I want it. Im from Portland but welcome aboard. Youll find any info you need here, as well as friendly people, and get togethers, etc.
  3. Meet Swat.. Named for his SWAT abilities (13 front toes 7 on left 6 on right) Also would love to be called SLEEPS WITH A TIRE... Keeps sleeping ON the tire of my new Subaru, up in the wheel well... Will try to get pics in the act, but he hears the doors open and RUNS inside (hes SOOO starved at 25 pounds)
  4. Meaning let them "steer" or "honk" the horn? What a jerk move kidding, god that would be freaky to pass if I were another car... Pass somebody on the freeway and throw your hands up from the wheel screaming it doesnt work, and steer left and right as the RHDriver was doing everything... Hell to see the steering wheel on the left side with no driver would cause a double take.
  5. Cant be... My 1992 Loyale (EA82) after an oil change, new wires and plugs and a fuel additive to clean out the carb, raced against my friends Miata and hit 105 before I realized that I shouldve been going 55 Id suggest NOT doing that, and testing it on a track. Even my 1984 DL (EA81) right now, doesnt have good plugs or an oil change (needs both badly :-\ ) on my way home from GDs the other night, Id be in the 65 and look down and the things hittin 80 and all Im feeling is an occassional shake on the wheel.... I would definately check your carb, your air filter and your oil... dont want sludge to slow you down (Lemme guess, 16? ...... Hehehe Yea!) love that commercial.
  6. The wheels wont fit your Subie unless you swap rims out. I havent used those exact ones, but I ran some like them on my Loyale after I took the studs out since I was thinking Id save money (but then later had to buy winter tires again) The work well, but I still prefer studs
  7. I figured they were the same since they were both the same year, model and style, but I hope someone does need one.
  8. As it just so happens, Rick (GeneralDisorder) is working on my car with me. I will make sure we look at this list and check things off as we do them, as I do want this to be a car that although nearly 27 years old, still runs, drives and looks like a champ. Yup, spare spark plug wire, it perplexed Jacob and I for a few moments but hey, cant be too careful.
  9. Thank you James Any news on your 84 GL yet? I wanna resolve this, I feel quite bad.
  10. I think and hope he has that part under control...
  11. OHHH lol Mines not in amazing shape but its there and functional
  12. I should save my radio? Like, save the console part for someone else?
  13. Wait, putting a weber on means I cant have power steering?
  14. Ill be out there tomorrow to help him organize while he helps on my car. Are you gonna bring the frankenmotor brat there?
  15. Alright, I will keep you informed, my old bumper is back up on C-List for $30, so hopefully it gets bought and Ill have some money for that this upcoming week. Did you find an alternator that would work?
  16. Stuff that NEEDS to be done Passenger wheel bearing Driver axle & boot Tires Alternator Air Filter Oil Change Spark plugs / wires Future plans: Different stereo, probably a digital one with cd/ipod New speakers Possibly different seats (undecided) Weber carb Basically itll look stock-ish, but will be a clean stock look *besides the stereo as they didnt have iPod hookup in '84*
  17. Will do, right now, spot in garage is cleaned out if it starts raining, so Ill have to wait on that... Jacob, is the K&N with you or Rick?
  18. Here is my 1984 Subaru DL, home in my driveway. 154k miles, Hillsboro Car its whole life. Bought in 1984 in Cornellius OR. Sold to another man in Aloha Oregon, and is now in my driveway in Hillsboro/Aloha Oregon. OUTSIDE DAMAGE TO BUMPER ENGINE TRUNK - Has my first tool box (with jumper cables, timing light and tool set) and chains. OUTSIDE (left side)
  19. Haha, why would they pull YOU over for having a mounted gun when they could go get the OTHER guy for having his high beams on and passing you when youre doing 5 over already? Surely they would make the better choice by ticketing the high speed high beam driver
  20. Welcome. Youll find an incredible amount of info And friendly people! Yes, search function is the best idea. But since Im here. I think any exhaust would do, since its rotting through, you might just take it in and have them replace it with a 2 inch pipe all the way down if you can, I did that with my Loyale and it wasnt too bad. Got the job done and didnt sound like a Honda:lol: OR DIY and save money, thats always a good thing.
  21. That sounds great. We will rush out right after class.. PM Sent for plans.
  22. Well... Depends on what we do. If we want to just clean/organize for now, and then work on my car later, thatd probably be best, since I only have 1 wheel bearing and about $.95 to buy a bearing with... Since my car does need work, I would have to have girlfriend follow me out there (Sept tags) so I didnt get a cop sitting on my tail. Or take her car, but she has to work from 9am-3pm and driving out there in rush hour would take forever.... And Saturday I have class 8am-1230pm... We could head out after that? Im super excited for this
  23. Rick, that would be an honor. You have no idea. Wasnt thinking youd be the one to say that (was pretty sure my 100s of questions had made you dread hearing from me ) but I would love to
