EJ25 from an '03 RS into a '92 Loyale: Fairly simple?
suberdave replied to Syonyk's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
its not going to be easy to get an OBDII engine working in a non OBDII car. if you use the 03 ECU it will have all kinds of codes. personaly i would go with a nonOBDII engine. if your going to spend that kind of money. add a bit and you can get a EJ20G. my $0.02... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com -

Any one have any pictures of lowered EA82's?
suberdave replied to flyjum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i too cant beleave i missed out on this one... its not super low, but i love the way it handles and rides... i used Tein coilovers to lower mine. the ride quality is much better than the Ebay coilovers -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com -

questions about turbowagon
suberdave replied to pyromanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i currently own 3 turbo ea82's, and have owned 2 others in the past. of the five, 3 have been swaped out with EJ's. the engine is no more prone to failuar than any other engine with proper care. but many people try to get more power out of it than it was built for. and thus always needing head gaskets. the first thing i do when i get a turbo car is: pull the engine reseal it, put new timeing belts on it, new water pump, and a new "2 core" radeator. this will cost you a couple hundred bucks but will pay its self off in the long run. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com -
what kind of engine management are you running? i can see you have a laptop in the pass seat in one of the shots. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com

Spider Manifold T/NA differences ?
suberdave replied to discopotato03's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
what do you need? i have 3 compleat manifolds. i may ship if the price is right, i dont know what it would cost to ship the whole thing to AUS. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com -
GOT an FSM? come look at my thread on older gen PLEASE!
suberdave replied to matts87glsedan's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
i have never owned a SPFI Subaru but i can tell you that the medal hose you have in that other post is the vent and should be pluged into the hard medal line on the manifold right by the fuel in and out. if you plug it in to vacuume it will pull fuel out of the gas tank. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com -

yet another EJ wiring question (Temperature)
suberdave replied to baccaruda's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
yeah the EJ uses a light and the digi dash also uses a light. just hook it up and all is well. its easier than the analog dash that uses a gauge... -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com -
yet another EJ wiring question (Temperature)
suberdave replied to baccaruda's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
i have an EJ in my GL10 with Digi dash. works awesome. just reads one bar lower than it did with the EA in it... but it never goes into the red like the EJ82t did... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com -
this comeing from me, a guy that just swaped an EA82t out of my lifted wagon and put a EJ22 in. with the EA82T i went through clutches like crazy. it had no power below 3000 RPM so the turbo is spooled up. so when you let the clutch out it slips like crazy. the numbers may look close but its like compairing apples to bannas... the EJ has so much more power than the EAt could ever have at low RPMs. i also think that the EJ wiring is 10X easier that the EA wiring... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com

shouldnt be all that hard. should be about the same as doing a 2.2 swap. but you will have to find a turbo EA81 crossmember or you will have to cut and weld yours for the uppipe. the hood scoop on a turbo legacy is just for the turbo. there is no intercooler. so i think it would be just fine without a scoop. any other questions just ask... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com

here is a turbo legacy or JDM WRX rad. (they are the same) in my 88 GL with a EJ20G swap!!! you have to cut some of the rad core support out, then weld on some tabs to hold the bottom of the rad. it use to sit in the holes to the left up on the ledge. now it sits in the little holes i made down below on the right. more pics on my webpage -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com

Swapping in a Spyder intake....
suberdave replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
make sure you get the pitch stoper with bracket to the trans, the heater pape from the water pump, the throtle cable, and the bracket for the timeing on the crank pulley (you cant see the flywheel very well with the spider on) the thing you need to check is the wiring harness. dose it have two black plugs one round and one squair? or is one black and one white but both round? -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
