suberdave replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
so if you go and get a RX body kit and put it on a wagon, it is tht right langth and everything? or is there some moding involved? i think that looks awesome... wouldnt mind being a copy cat for that one. i just got a new gl, this one is for the street... thanks -=suberdave=- -
i broke my key off in the door, so they couldnt trace it. i went to the dealer and got the key code, then went to a lock smith, and he cut the key from the code. i think he carged me like $4.50. -=suberdave=- www.suberdave.com

vacuume "Vs" center diff
suberdave replied to suberdave's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok so is what i am hearing is that they are the same? i just bought a 88 gl with vacuume 4wd, but the guy through in a different trans, he said it was a AWD with center diff lock (and he gave me the switch also). if i put that in my gl, what is going to be the difference, they look the same. i know looks arnt everything, but i have never done anything with a AWD trany. will it be AWD, if so what is the point of the vacuume soloniod? and what dose the diff lock do? thanks -=suberdave=- -
ok, here is what i want to know... what is the difference between a vacuume 4x4, and a center diff? they look the same to me.. or am i just loosing it? -=suberdave=- www.suberdave.com

your right im not to worried about water / rain, there is no way for rain to realy get into the filter it is surounded by the fender front splash sheld (for lack of a better word), and the fender liner. and if its raining hard enough for large puddles that i may have to forge... thats what i have my other subaru for. a little rain wont hurt this one. if this one suckes up water... im gonna start bulding a subaru powered boat -=suberdave=-

yep. it all fits nicely up behind the fender and washer taink.; not to worried about water that is what i have my other subaru for, see above pics, with PVC intake, if i hit water that high, i better start bulding a boat. and the cone is a 6 inch cone with a 3 inch outlet to the pipe. thanks for the comments -=Suberdave=-

here are some pics of my 93 loyale, i know its spfi not turbo mpfi but it would work the same, just need some mod's. now i know its no PVC but i think it looks nice as you can see the Mass air flow senser is mounted right onto the sheet metal of the inner finder. here is how it mounts in the fender. should be a little colder out there and a bit more air can come through that K&N than the stock paper filter. and here is the whole thing. let me know what you think... -=suberdave=- www.suberdave.com

im working on a intake that is going on my 93 loyale spfi. it will be done today, and i will have pics up tonight. sorry no PVC this time, this one is the real thing, 2.5 inch chrome pipe and a K&N filter -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave

is ea-82 a good engine???
suberdave replied to spycho_clown's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have 2 EA-82's one turbo and one not. i love them both, th nonturbo has 189,000 miles on it and has had nothing other thay ragualr mant. the turbo is on its second engine, but like stated earlyer, i just through out the old and got a new, about 4 hours later, good as gold. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com -
Last month I had to take my 87 GL-10 wagon EA-82T thought emissions. Here’s the problem… I have no Cats. 2.5 inch turbo back straight pipe, and I have removed most of the emissions controls off, mostly because they were in my way and looked better without them. I took it thorough at first without doing anything. Just to see what kind of numbers it would blow. Before: Cruise: HC = 100, CO (%) = .46, CO+CO2 = 15.86 All passes. Idle: HC = 274, CO (%) = 4.37, CO+CO2 = 16.47 not so good. So I got to thinking… (That can be scary) I back probed my O2 sensor and found out that it was working fine at cruse, but as soon as it got back to idle it went flat. This causing the rich idle. Installing cats was out of the question, so I installed a three wire heated O2 sensor. After: Cruise: HC = 56, CO (%) = .13, CO+CO2 = 15.63 All passes. Idle: HC = 152, CO (%) = .05, CO+CO2 = 15.25 Also all pass Not bad $50 O2 sensor over a $250 cat, that I don’t want anyway… I would say it was a worthwhile investment. -=Suberdave=- david@suberdave.com www.suberdave.com
