Today I tried an old trick to recognise left or right head gasket is blown. Gave 6 bar pressure from a garage compressor in cylinder thru spark plugs hole when piston is in TDC and both valves closed. Then turned next cyl. and next. To hold crankshaft from rotating under pressure put into 1st gear. There were bubbles in radiator doing this job with cyl #1.

Hi Wolfram LEONE I have Leones many years and for many years try to take any diagnostics data from yellow and black connectors located under hood near brake booster. But no success. Also visited many internet pages about Subarus, but normal diagnostics started from 1989 Legacy. Maybe I,m wrong? Why are theese connectors with more than 7 pins going directly to ECU and are marked as diagnostics in wiring diagram? Janis.

Thank you Tommy. I will visit this link regularly. My previos 3 Leones came from Germany, but it becomes harder and harder to find Leone in Germany. Janis.

Tommy! Congratulations from neiberhood country-Latvia! Great job! Is it possible to find any Leone (Loyale) in Finland? Janis.

Front Axle roll pin temporary substitute
zilejanis replied to kayakertom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Analogical roll pin stands on Loyale- keeps drivers and passenger doors from excessive opening. -
Take off wires from clutch pedal switch and connect both of them with jump wire- it will be european car after this. Janis.

The drivers side camshaft turns also distributor- take off distributors cup and look if rotor turns when you turn motor.

It is pin in older ea-82 engines. After 1989 I did `nt see this pins.

Loyale acceleration hesitation
zilejanis replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
To find any vacuum leak in inlet I allow engine to run iddle and work around all possible leak areas (manifold ,carb gaskets.hoses...) with brush wet with gasoline. Also works solvent sprayers- carb cleaners. If engine sucks gasoline from yoyr brush instead of clear air, idle rpm will change. -
instrument cluster question??
zilejanis replied to vagen's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is only blue bulb with aturbine symbol on european models. It comes ON at very low turbine pressure. -
1985 Gl Wagon engine swap carb to FI
zilejanis replied to Foos1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It is possible, but takes much time and labor to swap carb-FI. You must take not only fuse box, but all frontal saloon and engine wiring, also fuel pump and ignition system. After all you win at maximum 5-7 HP. I made reverse swap MPFI-CARB on one of my Subarus- it was easy. -
On EA-82 VSS tells to ECU if you went more than 10 minutes at speed faster than 25 km/h then after swtching ign OFF it gives a 12V to air mass flow meter wire 0.5 seconds signal to clean-burn off dust from this meter wire. Without speed signal this cleening will be not. Ithink on EJ engines system is similar.
