  1. My car has 246k and still going strong. For the first 200k i used dino oil and changed it between 4,000 to 5,000 miles. The more recent ones i've been doing right at 5k with sythetic. Runs great, and i don't have to add oil between changes.
  2. 80+ for synthetic? Five quarts of mobile 1 and a OEM H6 filter cost me at most $36, and i'm sure the dealer gets it cheaper. $45+ for 15minutes of a lube-tec's time. Thats just crazy.
  3. I replaced my oem one with CSF all metal. Tthe fans had a gap on the side I had to fill in with RTV. It's a two row instead of single, and the cooling tubes are wider than the stock but the fin density is thinner. I don't know what the metal is, but its not aluminum. Oh and the new radiator has a gap at the top between the AC condenser and radiator, so now the AC is a little bit warmer. If i had to do it again, i would buy an OEM style one with the plastic side tanks.
  4. My OEM one had the plastic tanks and it lasted about 14 years, so i'd say they have a decent track record.
  5. The car gets driven almost everyday. I have no ideal what happened, but new tires fixed the problem.
  6. I haven't done it yet. What i thought was a wheel bearing turned out to be a tire that was out-of-round. I didn't even know they could do that! All the tread depths were equal and everything. But anyway i still plan to replace the bearings since they are original, i have the parts, and the car has 250k.
  7. Plus it's only time changing the spark plugs are super easy! I'd pull the engine, and check for small oil leaks and do them at the same time. Just my opinion though.
  8. The alignment checked ok, and they said the front suspension is in great shape. I'm told the tires are separating, causing them to go out of round.
  9. we'll I guess I'll take to a shop and have checked out. I'll post back with the verdict.
  10. Yeah, i had an alignment done February of 2010, right after doing the springs and struts. I would like to know what the problem is before i get an alignment and new tires. I'd hate to ruin those too.
  11. Also, the struts also appear to be ok. They are about two years old, but i do have king springs installed.
  12. My 97 obw is pulling to the left, and has uneven bald spots on the outside of the left front tire. Before noticing the bald spots I had suspected the wheel bearing, but upon inspection that SEEMs fine. Any input is appreciated.
  13. Does anyone have a link to a DIY for front wheel bearings on a 97 outback? Also a list of parts need would be GREATLY appreciated. I did a search and found some links to DIY threads, but they are all broken, or missing the pictures.
  14. My all season tires left me on forest service roads with flats four different times. I'm hoping with a light truck tire It won't happen as much. Also I'd like better traction on snowy roads. I know the 75's will fit, i talked to OBS owner the other day who had 75's for snow tires.
  15. Hmmmm Geolanders come in that size, and i have had good experiences with them before, I just thought the slightly narrower grabber would do better in the snow. I’ll have to think about it.
  16. Yeah, it's an auto. Last time I had a flat tire I had to drive 130 miles just to get somewhere that could patch it. It made me pretty nervous since i didn't have cell phone reception most of the way.
  17. I want to put 205/75R15 Grabbers on my car this weekend. Can I use the stock size 205/70R15's as a spare? Or would i be destroying my subaru to try it.
  18. That guy even has torque specs, he did a better job than me. Great link!
  19. Anyway I've had aftermarket one in my car for few months, it seem to work just fine. But i wish i would have just saved the money and got used one.
  20. I had the same problem with my 97. The dealership wouldn't believe me that i needed one with female ends.
  21. The original poster did say he just wanted to do it for the experience.
