  1. Yes, a few people have beaten you to it. From what I've heard the 4 sealed beams can offer slightly more light-but I prefer the look of the two halogens, personally (I think it makes the car more streamlined).
  2. Personally I have never put over 50,000 miles on a single car. However, the most reliable so far has been my '94 Justy--the only repairs that have been made have been normal maintenance items, and it's due for some body work from a slight mishap. 12,000 miles since I bought it as an "unsafe car" from a dealer in New Hampshire for $900--and it's running better than ever.
  3. hmm...67hp 2000lb 4WD wagon against a 73hp 4wd Justy?
  4. Are the brownish registration cards supposed to have the club name on them somewhere? Mine does not. Edit: My registration number is 148471. Dave, did they give you a 5-digit number or did you lop one off?
  5. Right-but I'd still like to know what the change interval is. The dealer isn't much help (but the dealer here isn't ever much help with anything older than a 2000). Oh, and if you're overseas, my Justy is equipped with the 1200cc EF12.
  6. Does anyone out there know offhand what the timing belt change interval for a '94 EFI Justy 4WD is? I'm assuming it's 60K but I'm not sure...also, is it an interference engine design? I'm about to hit 121K and starting to worry. Also, the car will be out of service for a little bit for some pretty major repairs anyway, but it's still running great and there's no rust on the body so I think I have myself a keeper. (I did look in the FSM and through the forum's Search feature. No dice. Also, the car did not come with an owner's manual.) Thanks!
  7. subarubrat, he's already put down the deposit for a tent-so I believe we are registered regardless of the number of people that show (just in case you didn't read through the entire post). Hopefully you'll have a clean bill of health for you & yours and we'll see you there.
  8. A roll pin is not threaded-you have to drive it out with a punch.
  9. The lower moulding on the door is held on by plastic clips, just like the tailgate trim (and the moulding on EA82s). There will be holes.
  10. Right now I think we're planning on a 6-7pm departure from East Windsor. I need to find out which car(s) Connie and Tom are taking, to say nothing of what I'll be driving down. A lot got tossed up in the air after I smushed the Justy...
  11. As long as there's something in the car with the VIN on it (reg, tax bill, oil change receipt, whatever) that car could be tagged and legit in Connecticut...
  12. Paul, I'm bringing 3 so long as Connie and Tom are still coming. My Justy will be...er...driveable...and Matt knows it's no longer quite a show car. (those of you who don't know and might care-I nailed a deer and then a guardrail in a '94 Justy going about 60MPH on the NY Thruway Thursday morning.)
  13. Come to think of it...the RX wagon you sold me originally had a FT4WD 4EAT in it too.
  14. However it was introduced midyear. The first build dates for the '87 AWD tranny models were in 12/86 and 1/87. My mom used to have a FT4WD 4EAT turbo GL-10 wagon.
  15. Keith, I'm probably the same distance away from the engine and I'm also bringing a crappy wagon of some sort in addition to the '73 and the Justy. I think Paul's just bringing his '78 and the coupe...send us both the details, I can probably grab it no problem.
  16. All righty, I'm definitely in with a '73 1400DL wagon, a '94 Justy, and something else (Connie's choice unless the turbowagon gets deregistered).
  17. Trizol! http://www.sterifab.com/trizol2.html Best stuff I've ever used for rusted bolts.
  18. subie94: I usually leave 1st around 4K RPM, 2nd I wind it out if I'm trying to accellerate (to 6,000-6,200) and then shift around 4K thereafter. Remember it cruises at 4K going 70MPH...only reason I don't let it out of first later is the synchro on second gear.
  19. Am I right in assuming that newer ('87 on up) wagons lock the tailgate along with the PDL lever? (Wagons with power locks only obviously) My Justy has a cable-operated hatch release, I don't see any reason why you couldn't easily engineer a cable mechanism to actuate the latch (similar to the hood mechanism and the hatch release in the RX) from the driver's seat. The main challenge I see is running the cable into the hatch without wind/water/noise leaks, since the latch is in the hatch on the wagon, whereas the loop is on the hatch/trunk lid on sedans and 3-doors and the latch is in the base.
  20. Might want to go with earlier (read "cheaper") Legacy seats, '89-'94 I find pretty comfortable, and spring for the Webasto seat heaters if that's an issue. Also, I find most Volkswagen, and even earlier Subaru (XT, XT6 and '87+ GL-10) seats to be quite comfy. Welcome aboard.
  21. I'm definitely interested! Can you link me to the pics? Also, can you send me a telephone number? Thanks Andrew
  22. Umm..."rounded lines"? On a GLF?! You've had your Jeep way too long, sir...
  23. Chlorine bleach, diluted to 1/2 the strength recommended on the bottle. I've done this with an EA82 before...'86 3-door. We ended up taking out the entire interior due to mice and mold from a non-sealing sunroof...anything cloth was pitched, including the seats, headliner, carpet and underlay. All the plastic surrounds were removed and hand-washed. Bleach and water in the vents with the heater on HI and lots of elbow grease, and an '89 3-door interior later, all was well again...
