  1. Nice wheels! Where'd you find them? Are they still 4x140mm stud pattern?
  2. Yeah she's a bit of a beast - it's a New Zealand new model so they're a bit quirky, only one reverse light, high roof, other bits and bobs. Will be sad to see it go - it's probably one of those things I'll regret doing in a few years but needs to be done. Cheers for looking! Sorry mate, I've just acquired a new turbo Forester so have no more room, plus I'm not much of a Honda fan. Been a bit of interest on Trademe but let me know if you can get close to the number I've put on it - I'd be stoked to sell it to another Subaru fan!
  3. Hi all, I know there's a few guys in NZ on these forums so thought I'd post up my Leone/Omega I have for sale. Car is located in Christchurch in the South Island. Just acquired a 2000 turbo Forester so need to make space - sad to see the old girl go but what can you do! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=901907915 Mods, if this is the wrong place let me know and I'll move it. Cheers!
  4. Nice - the wiring is the biggest hurdle I think I'll encounter so that takes a load off. I find the read ups really confusing - do you know what parts on the body side of the harness you needed to keep? Relays, etc? I think I'm going to go for the old EJ20D DOHC motor out of the first gen Legacy VZ or maybe one out of a second gen TSR. Not too sure yet, depends what is readily available. I'm considering going with a Forester dual range box (I actually own a Foz with one already) however the loss of a locked center diff puts me off a bit and I'm not sure if I'm mechanically inclined enough to muck around with gearbox internals. Can you explain with a bit more detail on what you did with your box? Also how'd you go with getting it certified? Any issues?
  5. This is cool man - I've never seen another documented thread on a New Zealand build (or RHD build either). Was there anything you ran into that seemed to differ from the instructions in the EA to EJ writeup? Looking to get stuck into a swap myself at some stage later on this year. I'm in an 88' Leone wagon so might be slightly different from you.
  6. Bugger, hope he's OK. Oh well, if you hear anything can you post back here? Cheers.
  7. Damn that's a shame. What happened to him? Is he alright?
  8. I'd appreciate this too if possible. Cheers
  9. DOHC EJ motors will not fit inside EA81 frame rails without serious modifications to said rails. You'd be better off using an EJ22T or a high compression hybrid EJ25 (EJ20 block w/ EJ22 heads) - search "EJ Frankenmotor" for info. This is an absolutely massive undertaking in which you would need to upgrade the suspension and brakes to deal with the power of a turbo EJ25, most of which require major work and modifications. Not trying to put you off, but I'd start with an EJ22 swap first - you might find you'd be happy enough with the power as it is.
  10. I won. However, I may have bigger problems. I think I found why I had such a bad air leak. Is this going to be a big issue? Any advice on how to fix? Sure is nice to see a shiny engine under all that grease though!
  11. Haha, not a club I wanted to join but thanks!\ There is definite give in the manifold - I can rotate it about an inch at the other side. I'm going to attempt to drill some of it out and see how I get on. Wish me luck!
  12. After reading all the threads throughout the years, I never broke one of these bolts...until today. One bolt was stuck, used a heap of penetrant and heat to try and get it out, buuuuuut... It's the one on the left. Got the other five out, however now I can't slip the manifold over the broken bolt. What are my options?
  13. Wow, awesome pictures! Thanks for that - great info and advice! I could, however buying them over here in NZ can be very pricey compared to US products, even with shipping. I'm looking at taking the engine out and doing a complete reseal (not splitting the block) so I figure if I get one of those sets it'll have most things at a decent quality, Things like intake & exhaust manifold gaskets and head gaskets, I will most definitely buy OEM or OEM quality.
  14. This image might help you visualise what wagonist is talking about - this is my EA82 wagon, taken a couple days ago.
