  1. If I remember correctly both units just unscrew from the trans. The brass rod is actually part of the unit. All you need to do is use a dremel and cut the kickdown rod to the same length as the 4wd one. Then you change the plugs ( I can't remember if I spiced or just repinned ) and screw it back in and yes it can be done in the car but if I remember right you have to unbolt the trans mount from the car and lower the back of the trans an inch or two.
