What are your favorite "Old Gen" stories?

I drowned my car a while ago... Used a come-along to get it out of the hole. Engine completely hydrolocked. Used the starter to crank water past the rings. Another few minutes of cranking, it was purring along like nothing ever happened... -
1991 Loyale Wagon - let the build begin.

Sorry for crappy picture, but GLs are very happy towing I tow probably a hundred small boats in the summer with my car. It has a stock ea81, so less power than the 82! It does quite well. Rear disc brake conversion greatly helped with stopping my rig. And a low range helps get moving with a heavy boat up a steep launching ramp. -
Is this possiable or did i do the math wrong..

I've found the only accurate way to calculate over just one tank is to use the same gas pump at the same gas station. Hold it on full, and when it clicks off don't add anymore. Now, if you keep track of mileages and fill up amounts over the course of months, that sort of stuff gets averaged out. -
Between a very low ratio and torque converter the idea of a CVT is amazing. Ultimate offfroad transmission, BUT. How well can the CVT hold up to good hard abuse? Off roading puts a lot of abuse on a transmission. Wheel spin, sudden grab, more wheel spin, repeat. Lots of running slowly winding up the TQ makes a lot of heat, etc.

The cooler and lines going to it are much higher than the oil pan. So all the fluid will not drain out of the lines when they're disconnected. Not much comes out of that circuit anyway if it's been sitting for a while. And if it hasn't, draining the trans won't stop mess from pulling the rad. But, it's good to put new fluid in the trans anyway...

Those go through the tire and green slime held? that's effing awesome.

You must have those tubed, right?

HA yea. Same here. First thing I noticed was the automatic and greasy CV axles. I wondered why doing a nice exhaust on such a car was worth it... heh.

Maybe my 89 is just special then

huh? I have a 4wd d/r, and that lever doesn't get in the way any.

My cup holder is shoving the cup between the e-brake lever and the passenger seat. It's surprisingly stable. Never had a spill.

THIS! Especially if you aren't plowing anything with a lot of bumps/hangs for the plow to catch on. It's just like anything. If you're an idiot, you'll break it. If you have half a brain, you'll be fine.

Those came on my car. Yes, 16". They look great, but never use them in the winter! Though they're called snowflakes, clearing snow out of them is damn near impossible. You have to shove your hand in between each of those spokes to get them cleared... Not nearly as bad as 14" pugs, but still a pain.

Never thought it didn't... I know a 2.5 flexplate bolts to a 2.2. I've done that, and everyone who's done a 2.2 swap. And I've bolted what I was pretty sure a 2.5 clutch setup to a 2.2 for someone and it worked fine.
