  1. Mine sits on the peg at about 4 gall. left. The light starts coming on and off around 2 gall. left, my record for almost running out was putting in 15.55 gall.
  2. I have one. Have had it for probably 6 months so far. Great for the cheap price I paid for it (really really really good deal). I have never done much with the fuel consumption option. It is horribly inaccurate, but I just need to calibrate it. It is great to have all the guages and everything. Works wonderfully.
  3. What's the tranny out of? Not all (or any?) 1995 imprezas are obd2. Just the legacys.
  4. Just try selling it. Maybe the buyer won't care that it has a lifter tick because it is a very typical and fairly harmless subaru thing.
  5. Well, they are self-adjusting. So I assume you're putting more pressure on them than when the engine runs causing them to keep the valves open. Have you tried just replacing the adjusters?
  6. The short 5th on the '99 OBW drives me nuts, running 3k RPMs at 65, in my legacy I'm spinning 3k at 70.
  7. Does the 2001 have the really short 5th gear like on the '99 outback?
  8. I made a 1000 mile round trip road trip last weekend, and averaged 34mpg. Driving between 75 and 80 most of the time
  9. If you were electrically inclined you could design a device to simulate an EGR to the computer. My fear would be that it would run slightly rich because the computer would "think" it was getting exhaust back in the intake when it really isn't.

When you passed today my mouth just dropped and I said WOW... haha. My little sister asked me "who were you waving to in the weird car?"
  11. I had my water pump seize up on me at 92,000 miles (yay non-interference engine!!). So I always say replace it.
  12. on my car they aren't. There are 2 different sizes. if you pull them all out it will be obvious if they are all the same or not.
  13. I went to napa and asked for the bulb. It is listen in their computer system as to which one you need.
  14. Yes, it would sound like it doesn't have any compression. Turn over a bit faster. But since your engine is non-interference the pistons and valves will never come into contact. So you won't hear any nasty noises if your timing belt breaks.
  15. Only a mere 100,600 on mine. Glad to see I have at least another 150,000+ trouble free miles on it!
  16. How bad does it leak? My '96 AWD 5MT leaks too. But not that bad. I add about half a quart every 3000 miles, a bit more if I'm doing a lot of highway driving. I guess it heats up more and gets thinner. So leaks worse. As long as you keep on top of it, it shouldn't be a problem.
  17. The voltage/charge regulator. Which could be my issue too. It controls how much current is given to the stator, and thus how much the alternator puts out.
  18. AH, that makes sense. Because sometimes the light is dim, then gets brighter. Or as the gas sloshes around the light slowly gets dimmer and fades out. I figured it had to be analogue because of the dimming, digital the light would be on or off.
  19. I've always had the low voltage at idle. When I idle my headlights noticeably dim. I always attributed it to a failing alternator.
  20. I was kidding.... hence the :-p I have lived in Europe and overseas longer than in the US.
  21. I used to think it was only a 12 gallon tank. Because when the light came on I'd fill up within a few miles. And it would only take about 12 gal. Then one day I was in the middle of nowhere kinda lost and out of gas. The light came on, and all I could think was that I was screwed. Finally made it to a gas station and filled up with 15.6 gal. Read the manual and found out it is a 15.9 gal tank.
