  2. I thought the 2000 outback (SOHC) was non interference?!?!? but the 99 and earlier DOHC's were
  3. Ok, So im throwing the above mentioned codes. 1142 states to fix 0122 first. so. any subaru techs on here that run into this code and actually have the issue be faulty wiring? i've had the sensor 'cleaned' by the dealer but since then the problem eventually came back. also is causing strange shift points and hard shifting. i've also cleaned the contacts and such with electrical contact cleaner etc is it most likely that the sensor is just bad and i should just replace it and be done with it? just dont like to hear that since i already got over $300 in to the repair and what not. and the sensor is like $200 +/- (i've seen a bosch from Advanced Auto for $148 or something, other than that like $220+). Can i adapt a 3pin sensor to work with the setup? i can get a ton of those from the junkyard locally for $10/ea. no 4 pin ones. this is getting goofy/frustrating!
  4. my freebies are "DUAL" brand speakers, they are pretty cheap but they sound just fine. but then, i listen to the radio about 20 mins a day total. Mornin radio show in the morning, and then whatever is on in the afternoon afterwork. no need for good/great sound with my AmFm deck. LOL. and i only use ONE of the speakers. haha. but im weird. so its all good. i used to be audiophile in the car, but 3 stolen systems and a damaged ear later i figure i dont need all that noise.
  5. yeah those speakers are just subwoofers, and im guessing the amp is crossed over around 180mhz so you will just get some thumpin and tones... look for a good set of 2 way speakers for the doors, even somethin cheap will be better than nothin. i got door speakers for free from a dude on craigslist who bought them and didnt use them. it worked out perfect! if the amp/subs still work you could get some cash for it from some dood in the hood.
  6. thats great! nice work on making it work for you. My question tho... do you have a remote control for that radio? Or are you like me and just listen to one station most of the time.
  7. You want me to bring it along tomorrow? could check the timing quick in the parking lot. all you need is a 10mm socket and about 14 feet of socket extensions:lol: to adjust the dist whats the dealio on this midwest subaru meet? im pretty sure i wouldnt be able to go.. lol but ya never know!
  8. it was on sale at Dad's garage:lol: he gave it to me when they bought their condo, so after 2.5 yrs, i finally used it! its old school. its a craftsman, and its chrome as hell!
  9. adjusted my timing from 15 to 20 degrees today... maybe that'll explain a little bit o the current fuel economy. that was actually the first time using my timing gun. so fun. now to fix my furnace:mad:
  10. Thanks for the info guys! I just have a bare gauge, so i'll have to wing the connections etc. Off Topic: Hey man, i dont think i'll make it over your way this week... gotta fix my ************ing microwave, POS died on me and have to get a new circuit board for it. its almost cheaper just to buy a new one!
  11. we got these back when i actually made money. luckily they are paid off now. my bike -883 Sportster, has drag pipes and a custom painted a/c cover now. wifes bike - probably has a dead battery now. '01 Suzuki Marauder vz800 and this badboy! Trek 700 or something with a 66cc 2 stroke
  12. SO this may be dumb, but, to install the mechanical gauge, so i just remove the oil pressure sender unit and connect it there and run a line to the gauge right? I did search. but came up short. if anyone see's a link that i dont know about feel free to post it to help future searchers
  13. update: i noticed 1 thru 17 are now up!
  14. i think thats most likely a dealer part, i've only got one of the 2 retaining clips ad everything seems to work fine.
  15. good to hear you got that stuff done. where's my mudflaps!! ***************!! just kiddin. i'll get them SOME time.
  16. hmm, that IS interesting, but then when the insurance company sees "TURBO" they get a 'rate-boner' im sure a n/a loyale would be cheaper. well.. mines $172 or something every 6 months. i take it back... mines $0, but the liability insurance is $172/6mos. lol
  17. Welcome aboard! Are you in Mount Vernon, WI? or another Mount Vernon?
  18. No real 'stories' per say. but the other night when it was snowing *(last thursday) i left work WAY late on my way to bowling league, had to put her in 4wd from the turn outta the parking ramp all the way to the bowling alley (10 miles?). i made it there in about the same time as it would have taken me if the roads were dry(combo of city and freeway but mostly city streets)... thats gotta say somethin! our soobs always seem to get us to where we need to go pretty safely. well.. i did manage slide the car around in this large rump roast parking lot, and on my way out of the parking lot , pop the clutch and slide around the fence and back into the parking lot via their OTHER driveway. it was fun.
  19. im gonna get some aux/offroad lights for my ride, see what kind of lights i can scavange from a junkyard and make some mounts. cuz im ghetto like that. maybe some old round bmw headlights or something.
  20. wow, if i'd a looked here first, i would have answered both the questions i asked in the pm...
  21. i dont know how it can snow for like 24 hours and the weather people say only 3.5" of accumulation by the airport (near my house). Everywhere else is like 6-12, my wife shovelled when she got home at 9pm, i got home at 11pm and had to shovel a new path to the house, probably 3-4" accumulated in that hour and a half. oh, what i did in my sooby: played in the snow
