  1. Haha...my brat is in Washington and I current driva a 98 outback. Thanks for a descriptive informaiton. I would like to hear some part numbers.. So I could order them without doing a search on their website(1stsubaruparts.com, etc) Thanks Dan
  2. I would try ebay for the hub tamer. I'm also looking for good source for bearings. Thanks Dan
  3. Hi there, just found out that my front driver axle is bought to go and so is the front passenger wheel bearing. I would like to do both the bearing and axle replacement for driver and passenger side. First, I would like to know some of the tools required to do the jobs. And I would like to hear some pros and cons of using certain tools over another. Secondly I would like to know part numbers for all the parts I need. I thought buying them over the internet would be cheaper than visiting local subaru dealership. Since I just moved to Michigan, I'm lacking some tools(well I lacked tools back in Washington, mostly visited Carfreak85 for major fixes), I'm willing to spend some money to buy tools as for it is an investment, yet I would'nt spend so much like buying an air compressor so I would like to know the alternate route. After all I'm only a college student with short budget. College student = broke, but not poor. Thank you in advance Dan
  4. Sadly, all the payment has been made. And the vehicle is bought from a dealer. Only thing I can tackle the dealer at the small court is that Massachusetts doesn't allow "as-is" vehicle but the dealer sold the car to us "as-is" (of course I found out this after I bought it) But weird thing is that that law wouldn't apply to me (well I'm trying to figure out why) All the Mass consumer protection told me was that I made the deal over the phone....but I don't see why that makes a such deal when the vehicle was physically bought from the state.
  5. Okay...I recently bought a 98 outback from Boston(I have already posted about it while ago)...I only added 900 miles to the car and 700 miles comes from me driving from Massachusetts to Michigan(just broke 100k)..Look what I have....blown head gasket and maybe more(hopefully not though) Currently the car is at a subaru dealership getting it repaired.....I know outbacks infamous for blowing hg, but I would have never thought it would do that to me...The fact that I just bought this car and with all the problems/time/money I wasted on this car, I could have downpayment done for "new" car...I know Massachusetts have certain law to protect the consumers but I found out that it won't apply to my situation because the deal was "made" over the phone instead of me physically coming into a dealership and making a deal. I don't know how to preceed this manner. The dealer said "We specialize in obtaining RELIABLE vehicles" They have told me they checked everything to make sure this car is reliable for long distance travel...I only drove for 900 miles..and it died on me. There has to be somekind of sign of leaking before it blew and they should have found that when their mechanic checked "Everything" I really don't know what to do...I mean I feel like I just bought a lemon and now I have spend over $1k to fix the problem ...Since the deal was made over the phone, MA won't protect me against the dealer...What can I do? I really want the dealer to reimburse all the money that will go into fix the damn thing...Someone please help me. Thanks Dan
  6. I already asked PK for an outback wagon lift kit, and he said that he will be start making them next year or so...Not sure exactly when. Best way to find out about this is to email him, since he is a very busy guy don't expect to get a reply soon.
  7. Mine wont enough move at all. Even if I try to push it to unlatch....no sgin of any movement...just sits there... Thanks Dan
  8. Hi there. My new old outback wouldn't let me use her cup holder. In fact she wont let me take it out. For some reason cup holder seems to be stuck inside. I do not know what is holding back, but I would like to get it out without any force put into. What would be the best way to fix this? What needs to be come out in order to take apart the cupholder "area?"(a console??Don't know the word for it...) For now that is the major issue and the priority. There are other problems but I will address that in future..haha Thanks in advance. Dan
  9. Hmm, I tried to located the old link but wasn't successful. Could you post a link for me?Thanks in advance Dan
  10. Hi all, so when I got my new old car, 98 outback, the only key I got from the used car dealer was a spare key.... and I would like to know if this vehicle is previously equipped with a keyless entry but just lost the key and the equipment. I don't want to sound like a Brat but I kind of need one...I go to school in Detroit downtown...bit scary scenario: you are trying to open a car and spare key doesnt want to listen to me all the times....and while you are struggling to open a door, someone jumps on you from behind....Yeah...I need one soon so I can open the car before I get to it, and jump in and lock it.. That is my strateagy. If it is equipped with keyless entry, what do I need to get one(just the equipment, is ebay's product dependable?) What would be the cheapest route for this? Oh another question, What do I have to do to get a master key for my car? Thanks in advance Dan
  11. wow. Thank you so much for doing all this for me. I feel loved(?) haha. Anyways, Thank you guys for everything you guys have done. Not just this but for all. Dan
  12. So, for off-roaders or who wants to put bigger tire on their newer soobies, it is better to get an ea-82 d/r tranny then get a kit from mudrat79 than trying to locate and buy awd d/r available in overseas?
  13. I have been contacting engine/transmission importers if they want to make money off importing the awd d/r transmission. Of course they need to have enough buyers for this. So I will let you guys know if any of them are interested Dan
  14. This could be a good idea, but I probably get stopped everytime cop sees me...More often than not, those cheap***** will give me a ticket for not having a temporary license plate...Which I cant get one because MA doesn't have such a thing. Plus the idea with taking another license plate was given to me as final solution by the dealer. Plus I'm not too worried about getting into a trouble because my dad is coming along with me..he's old..I think he's 59..:-\ Well at least cop wont think us as a duo car thefts..(one 18 and one 59....)Dan
  15. I seriously want one too, so we(all the people who wants d/r awd tranny) should do something about it Dan
  16. The description says it's green, but from other pictures it looks like blue...maybe I'm a color-blind... Dan
  17. Well, I looked around enough and found this to be the best deal...even though it is so far away. I numerized(dollarized) all the infos...such as mileage difference, year difference, and condition difference. And I like this one the most Dan
  18. Not to hijack this thread but, here in michigan, there are so many small rocks lying around. The other day, I got 3 rock chips in a row...two of them made a crack in the bottom of the windshield...
  19. Can't wait until I get a lift kit for it. Yay! By the way it take 12 hours of driving from Woburn(right next to Boston) to Ypsilanti, Mi. :-\ and 17 hours of train trip...
  20. You know what will be funny - Get 5 jumpseats and bolt them in the back of a Brat, and just do crazy stuff with it. 2 front seats + 5 jumpseats = 7 seats
