  1. If you are talking about the eBay ones, they are like electric superchargers and simply don't work. Most of them just alter the air intake temperature reading and can waste fuel or damage your engine. What car, engine, etc?
  2. I take my cars to discount tire. They give me the tire I want, have an excellent non prorated warranty. Never a fuss.
  3. reset and see what reappears. If they all reappear, then you may have a bad ECU, not sending out it's 5vdc reference signal. all those sensors besides the 02, run on 5v. Also, you could have a bad ground to or in the ecu.
  4. Maybe a bad mass airflow sensor? just maybe. unplug it and see if it acts any different. I have seen a bad maf make a car run real funny. in fact thinking back, spraying starting fluid may have actually done the hot wire filament in the maf in for good. they can't take the solvents.
  5. http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-11DS60-2-way-Audio-Speakers/dp/B004PKIQWA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1352435014&sr=8-4&keywords=6+kicker+speaker
  6. your problem is you are replacing busted 20 year old brittle radiators with 20 year old brittle radiators. Do yourself a favor and buy a brand new one. Only time I use used radiators, is when i find a good recently replaced one at the yard. Usually I can find these on the 2.5d cars . Hopeless people see it overheating and replace the water pump, radiator and thermostat because they don't do their research and they actually have blown head gaskets. I recently scored a new aisin water pump and new oem thermostat from a 25d car for $5 at the junkyard.
  7. The speakers are only 6", not 6.5". Amazon sells some kicker 2 ways that sound great, is about 85 bucks for all 4 shipped to your door.
  8. I didn't know it could seal oil pans on. What happens if it isn't flat? I understand cleanliness is godliness, and I clean everything when I work, but I wasn't of the impression that stamped steel would work with anaerobic sealer. Do you still use the water pump gasket, or do you just "red" it to death? also, is there any difference between this and the permatex brand anaerobic sealer? http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-51813-Anaerobic-Gasket-Maker/dp/B0002UEONM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352395403&sr=8-1&keywords=loctite+518
  9. So I am assembling my ej251 fresh back from the machine shop, some say use fujibond, some say use "THE RIGHT STUFF" in a can, and some say other sealants. What would you use on your car or a customer's car? When I say this, I am speaking of case halves, oil pump, and separator plate. I have heard of using loctite flange sealant but what can/can't you use it on? can you use it on the water pump and oil pump? Also, I am about to rebuild my brother's 02 WRX transmission, what is best/ best substitute sealant for the halves and tail section?
  10. If you are sure all the bolts are out, a plastic dead-blow (maraca) hammer does the trick every time.
  11. the rod bearings on the single cams are bigger than the ones on the 25D's. My 25D lost a rod bearing and I did what anyone would do. I bought a phase 2 shortblock and rebuilt it.
  12. i have used empi axles. many times. go with empi. rebuilt axles are ground out and just have bigger ball bearings installed and new boots. That's why they have such high refailure rates.
  13. I took a thin rod from an of curtain rod and bent it just a smidge. Worked great on two ej's so far. It has a permanent home in my tool box now.
  14. just spray glue a sheet of 800 grit sandpaper to a pane of glass and lap it flat, then reintall. That's what I do.
  15. what do you want for the throw out bearing and the tie rods, and head bolts(are there 12 of them)? also, is that a full set of brake pads? feel free to PM me!
  16. I have never had a wobbly EMPI axle. I check the stub to axle free play, and never had a problem. You can order them from http://www.rockauto.com We put a set of EMPI axles on my friend's FWD sedan. He has a stock trans with a JDM 2.5 bolted to it and he walks bug eyes and gets walked by my08+ wrx's. These are the smallest thinnest axles subaru put on a ej. Daily beaten. no clicks, shudders, or looseness.
  17. sounds like the pressure valve in the rack to me. but may be mechanical.
  18. I believe It is beefier. Make sure you grab that engine, all associated bits, wiring , computer and the front cross member. Those motors are worth rebuilding and the blocks fetch cash as they are tough as nails.
  19. I was able to work that plastic off from inside the car on a June day. I was sweaty and pissed but I didn't break it. I didn't get it all the way off, just worked it down from the window and reached into the ranthor pit of sharp steel and found the lever and pulled it too it popped open
  20. Yeah, whatever you do, DON'T change the fluid. I lost reverse on my 93 lego wagon and I changed the fluid. within 300 miles I lost 4th, then 3rd. I drove it without reverse for 5 months. Everyone asked me why I parked like a douche (when a pull through wasn't available) and I had to explain it. If you have 4 spots, you can get to where you only take up two with a good swing. My job had a slanted parking lot so I could pull up the hill and coast back into a spot backwards.
  21. my worn out subarus get 15w-40 Shell rotella T, my tighter ones get rotella 10w-30 T5 synthetic blend. WIX filter every time. Changed at 3k miles. No complaints. I like the noises my engine makes when I drive them hard. My cars are daily abused... I too am one of those who does not buy into the 5k oil changes. Sounds like a marketing strategy to "lower" the operating costs of a vehicle to me. What if they are wrong and just farming engine replacements? I also don't like "fuel efficient" oil. 0w oil scares me. I see that some drag is lost, but my old fall back is that the 1989 honda crx hf got 49mpg highway. I don't buy that manufacturers have to run light weight oil to get 35-40 mpg.
  22. am i seeing things, or did you just cover everything in green tape and glass right onto it? I want to do something like this for the outback but I will hide the amp under the driver's seat to keep it a lower profile. I want to close the cargo cover and not see it.
