your problem is you are replacing busted 20 year old brittle radiators with 20 year old brittle radiators. Do yourself a favor and buy a brand new one. Only time I use used radiators, is when i find a good recently replaced one at the yard. Usually I can find these on the 2.5d cars . Hopeless people see it overheating and replace the water pump, radiator and thermostat because they don't do their research and they actually have blown head gaskets. I recently scored a new aisin water pump and new oem thermostat from a 25d car for $5 at the junkyard.

I didn't know it could seal oil pans on. What happens if it isn't flat? I understand cleanliness is godliness, and I clean everything when I work, but I wasn't of the impression that stamped steel would work with anaerobic sealer. Do you still use the water pump gasket, or do you just "red" it to death? also, is there any difference between this and the permatex brand anaerobic sealer? http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-51813-Anaerobic-Gasket-Maker/dp/B0002UEONM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352395403&sr=8-1&keywords=loctite+518

So I am assembling my ej251 fresh back from the machine shop, some say use fujibond, some say use "THE RIGHT STUFF" in a can, and some say other sealants. What would you use on your car or a customer's car? When I say this, I am speaking of case halves, oil pump, and separator plate. I have heard of using loctite flange sealant but what can/can't you use it on? can you use it on the water pump and oil pump? Also, I am about to rebuild my brother's 02 WRX transmission, what is best/ best substitute sealant for the halves and tail section?

I took a thin rod from an of curtain rod and bent it just a smidge. Worked great on two ej's so far. It has a permanent home in my tool box now.

I have never had a wobbly EMPI axle. I check the stub to axle free play, and never had a problem. You can order them from http://www.rockauto.com We put a set of EMPI axles on my friend's FWD sedan. He has a stock trans with a JDM 2.5 bolted to it and he walks bug eyes and gets walked by my08+ wrx's. These are the smallest thinnest axles subaru put on a ej. Daily beaten. no clicks, shudders, or looseness.

Yeah, whatever you do, DON'T change the fluid. I lost reverse on my 93 lego wagon and I changed the fluid. within 300 miles I lost 4th, then 3rd. I drove it without reverse for 5 months. Everyone asked me why I parked like a douche (when a pull through wasn't available) and I had to explain it. If you have 4 spots, you can get to where you only take up two with a good swing. My job had a slanted parking lot so I could pull up the hill and coast back into a spot backwards.

my worn out subarus get 15w-40 Shell rotella T, my tighter ones get rotella 10w-30 T5 synthetic blend. WIX filter every time. Changed at 3k miles. No complaints. I like the noises my engine makes when I drive them hard. My cars are daily abused... I too am one of those who does not buy into the 5k oil changes. Sounds like a marketing strategy to "lower" the operating costs of a vehicle to me. What if they are wrong and just farming engine replacements? I also don't like "fuel efficient" oil. 0w oil scares me. I see that some drag is lost, but my old fall back is that the 1989 honda crx hf got 49mpg highway. I don't buy that manufacturers have to run light weight oil to get 35-40 mpg.
