hmmmm. if the water pump wasn't removed, the case probobly still had a good deal of water in it. also -10 or not, when you start it with NOTHING in the engine, the heads will hotspot at the combustion chambers, so -10* case, 200* heads.... :-\ I would tear it down... starting at the water pump, just check all the freeze plugs and galleys for cracks. then check the heads for flatness.

misfire...

it's the plugs. the little platinum wire recedes into the insulator and misfires. THOSE ARE THE SINGLE WORST PLUGS EVER CREATED. Change them, problem solved -
nope. its not the smoothest ever, like not a waxed feel but its not really textured. it's just enough texture that water beads up on it. I have had good luck with this exact paint in the past but I painted it inside a garage. I painted this in 0-10mph winds. took about 4 hours with tape off and prep sanding. Cost : about 44.95. including tax, tape and can-gun. if you don't use a can gun, your finger will get a blister lol. I think I may sand down, and roll on thinned rustoleum satin black to see if it gets rid of the streaks on roof and hood...

the driving on the trailor could have warped the heads. not having coolant in it at all is worse than not flowing said coolant. it will never "get hot" on the guage without coolant flow because the CTS isn't at the heads. There is only airspace in the water jackets at that point. I would never start a car without coolant for more than a few seconds. That's just me. I am sorry to hear it.

Thanks. our neighbors think we are all bats#!t. we live in texas, in a rural area, (think god-fearing rednecks) and have a camo gl (blending in car) a forester, my lego and my roommate's RHD postal (behind my car in pics) along with a 07 dodge ram, my 67 chevy project and a 93 burban. they always pronounce them soobaroo's I changed the driver fender because though it looked good, the bottom was non existant due to rust.

Well here is what she looked like when I brought her home Here's the first day I drove her to work. after paint Headlight before and after resto done installed amp under driver seat and threw the sub in the back. I call her "crooked eye" because she has a tweaked frame up front causing the driver side headlight to be a little higher than the right side. I put 2 amber marker lights behind the grille as additional blinkers because the markers have been converted to blinkers and annoy me because of the fast flash. plus blinkers behind the grille are cool. Also my technique for restoring the headlights is VERY simple. wet sand with 800, then 1000, then clean well and let dry. tape off and spray clear. it fills what little scratches are left and protects the headlight from UV damage later on.

Subaru! The most versatile cars on the Planet.

i wouldn't pull more than about 1000 pounds with a gl... the 16" trailer weighs 1200 . maybe a 5x7 trailer with some stuff to answer your question, it pulled well. 120 mile round trip at 70mph. BUUUUT the forester has ABS, wide 16" wheels/tires, big 4 wheel disk brakes and twice the horsepower (compared to EA series) and sophistication I cannot compare to an old EA car. -

ive use my GL as a frame machine a few times. 4 low makes for some frame straightening power. pulled my roommate's full size dodge from muddy "yard" the other day. it rained real good and all that dodge would do is sling mud off the pass rear tire. I laughed because the GL drove out of the same mud hole in the yard in 2wd without tire spin, and didn't break a sweat pulling him out in 4 low Then there is this: brought my scooter home on it, plus multiple runs to home depot, including one trip which included shower stall, shower door, crap ton of MDF and much more! -
So the 90 legacy I bought is great, except for when I corner below 1/2 tank, and only on left hand turns. it cuts out, sputters and sometimes dies dependant on how much fuel is in the tank. I read in the FSM I have that there is a "jet pump" from one side of the tank to the other, strangely enough its supposed to move fuel from the left side to the right (pump) side if i am correct. where is this "jet pump" and how do I replace it? I am also guessing that gas is stuck over there and is why my car only holds "11 gallons"... also, car is FTAWD 5MT

rare and desirable are 2 different things, its rare that I crap my pants, but its usually not all that desirable. I love these cars and the ej22t is solid as a rock, but with 130k miles on it and beat to hell, i wouldn't pay that for it. -
