I would start with pulling the intake pipe off the turbo and see if she'll spin before Id do anything else. Also, feel out the shaft play too, sometimes the play will be so bad, that it bounces around the inside of the housing.

we cleaned the tps connections, and she seems to run/boost better. anybody know how to pull codes from an 87 gl turbo? My 88 spfi has a green plug on the fire wall... can't find one on his

Overheating and no heat issues... please help!
Ricearu replied to emarsh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
did you flush and clean your USED radiator? It could be clogged or you have an air pocket somewhere in the system. Try this park your car on a steep incline front forward. I put my front wheels on a curb. Let it run for a few, let it heat up to op temp. Let it cool down, remove the cap add more water if needed, squeezing the radiator hoses to get the air out. try that. If that doesn't help, you probably have bigger issues -
Building the Exhaust, EJ22 -> EA71 Brat Swap

the law binds to the vehicle. Not required to have a cat on anything older than 1981, no emissions check. screw the cat. most exhaust shops of hispanic ownership will run a pipe back for you for about $60 if you provide the muffler. -

ea and ej are "non serviceable"... my rump roast. I took my legacy ds to several shops because I was doing the ej22t 5 speed trans swap, and they said they couldn't do it. I had them cut the yoke off my old shaft and weld it on the new one at the appropriate length. (my 5 speed ds was from a junkyard and the yoke was rusted to hell and pitted) -
I finally f'ed the UAV good this time. She overheated REALLY bad, after driving for 6 months with a blown headgasket, It was about damn time. I made it home after letting her cool down and adding water, but yesterday morning, there was o much water in the cly. that she wouldn't crank. I trailored her out to my land to await my move and EJ swap. Won't be long before I will be giving SJR a call edit: also gotta mention, my wife's 97 chevy lumina is about the most boring thing I have ever driven. This SUX

put the heat on recirculate. your drawing in outside air, fix your exhaust gaskets. spray the gaskets, head mating surfaces, and exhaust flanges liberally with copper spray-a-gasket. That's what I do. Hell I reuse with copper spray. permatex products rawk

from the pic it looks as if the intake gaskets are degraded aftermarkets, might look at changing those critters.

IHI- RHB5 just PLEASE don't boost the piss out of it. It WILL grenade. I guess you don't have any experience with old subie's. If you want to run an assload of boost, put a built EJ in it and call it a day. The EA82t (what is in there now) is made of paper mache and really only turbo'd for efficiency. For performance add an intercooler for starters. Research this board. use the search button. IT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND HERE. Lowering... research. I think miata coilovers fit the rear.. Search.

31.3MPG last time I filled up and calculated. Mostly highway with 225/75R16's on her. That is also beating it up to speed and running at approx 66mph most of the time. (It runs at 2500 at 66mph in 5th. due to the tire size) my 93 legacy awd auto got 17 on its best day. No CEL's but found out later that it had a LAZY O2 sensor... bugger... -
anyone else got any suggestions on this matter

I have a spare set of heads complete. So I think I am gonna send out the HLA's to that place for a rebuild just in case, My driver side hg is blown. been blown for about 5 months. I also am going to send my spare heads out for machine/clean/inspect, before hand so this can be a 1 or 2 day affair. So I want to get all this crap squared away while I have the dang thing put down. Tired of the cam seals leaking, tick tick tick, and adding water daily and worrying about overheats. I would rather just get it done not to mention, my commute is 31 miles now, but I am moving to a place where my commute will be more like 45 miles

I am going to reseal my engine soon and would like to know if anyone knows a good source for valve lash adjusters (lifters). My TOD comes and goes, every time it comes, I lose oil pressure so I guess the bad lifter is blowing by a crapload of oil back to the head or something. Any help will be appreciated. I would like to make the old girl "new" again before I move 15 miles further from my job than I am now. Also, If someone knows a good cheap source for water and oil pumps too would be greatly appreciated. I am going the whole nine yards to do this correctly, meaning machining the heads, replacing all these old worn out repair parts If you think there is something else that needs to be replaced with this "fixerup" chime in.

what sux about building for perfomace ea engines, is they just don't flow through the heads. -
fwd auto $750 that is the dull of the dull. I don't know where they get off thinking that its worth almost 3k auto transmissions can go out with just age too. the recommended service interval is 60k, I doubt its ever been done. that car probobly has brittle frictions and bands and 19 year old fluid
