  1. my car began to make terrible noise last night on the way home from work. It just suddenly dropped oil pressure and began chattering. I guess this is what everyone refers to as Tick Of Death. I pulled over and checked the oil, only a half quart low. Guess I will be doing the turbo swap sooner rather than later.... I changed the oil as soon as I got home too, didn't help.
  2. I live in Fort Worth Texas and we have dyno emissions testing, but we only have 2wd dyno's. The inspectors around here hardly ever see Subaru's and usually the dumbaas conclusion in the population is that all Subaru's are AWD and turbo charged. I just stick mine in 4HI and tell them its stuck in. It's really convincing if you do it before you get there and bind up the drive line a little before he road tests it  sometimes the idiots don't even ask, they just two speed idle test them. Happened to my friend josh with his fwd impreza
  3. the axle is a 36mm you would need to disassemble the axles and install the ends into the hubs. They hold the hubs together
  4. if you give it more gas and it doesn't do it, do a voltage sweep on the TPS. look for spikes or dips.
  5. That won't add additional wear and stress to the spider gears or anything though... :-\ If I had to, I would keep them like they are and abandon 4wd unless really slippery. Just to save my front and rear diffs My car had one different size on the rear when I got it, It SUCKED. Binding and the occasional chirp from a tire just in a straight line. Took me till I did some research and found that there is no center diff...
  6. In defence of the carb, they aren't terrible, I ran an empi on my vw bug for a long time, but getting sold a used empi for used weber price... NOT COOL... get your money back.
  7. different tire sizes/treadwear. I cannot turn my 88 gl on dry pavement in 4wd hi or lo, without binding and chirping the tires all the way aroung
  8. you may find it on ebay from time to time, UNLESS someone here will sell it to you and ship it. Nice car! I love the bubble top and lack of trim. It looks sleek and clean!
  9. try changing your trans fluid to a high performance type. I have had some transmissions come back with just a good lube.
  10. welcome brad! The wiring is the real trick. If you really want the extra power, put an EJ22 in it. It is worth it and you won't have to deal with the turbo crap. the EJ has a ***************-ton more torque. read up on it and the swap. There are people on here who hack the harness for you for a small price, and you can buy the adapter at http://www.sjrlift.com . Only reason I am doing the turbo swap is because I was GIVEN a 37k mile JDM EA82t
  11. the shorter the louder. I like Purple Hornet's personally but the Thrush are ok, I personally would rather use a fart can, the split bank firing order of our cars break up the crappy resonance of the sound so it WONT sound like a pissed off bee in a can (civic). We get that SEXY pulse effect. I love when people tell me my car sounds like a WRX
  12. Give it a 5spd d/r sex change, that way you are not shoving another 20 year old boat anchor into it. It will last much longer too.
  13. I think (THINK!) voltage supply should only be 5volts. Could be wrong though.
  14. I have a GL-10 badge that need resto, but there is no way I can reproduce the chrome. It will probobly just be silver looks good btw
  15. find a reputable axle/driveshaft shop to rebuild it for you.
  16. 240sx transmissions are really common, and pretty damn bulletproof.
  17. +1 clutch cable adjustment, the pedal should only have 3/4" free play
  18. does it consume a small amount of water or frequently boil into the overflow tank when its NOT overheating? If so, you have a small headgasket leak
  19. the12volt.com was completely wrong if i remember correctly
  20. my speakers were twisted in pairs. yours MIGHT be. Good luck
  21. be sure you get a short stereo, its not single din. It won't go all the way in to the dash, it just hits the ducting/crap behind it. You will get a good 1" to 1 1/2" of hang out. As far as wiring, the speakers are twisted in pairs on my car from the factory, but the wiring was junk after a stereo was ganked by some crackhead so i rewired it. With a test light, find your 12+(bat) 12+(switched) and ground, power it up and start hooking wires up in different combos. That's what I did BE SURE TO VERIFY NONE OF THE WIRES YOU ARE HOOKING UP TO THE SPEAKER OUTPUTS ARE 12V+ my speakers were junk. probably could use to be replaced
