Meet the Coupe Get Together.UPDATED!
operose replied to Bucky92's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
well, on that note!!! I live right down the road from the closest international airport around.. unfortunetly most/all of the air traffic is private pilots (think they'd run me to CT for $50?) and the UPS plane that drops off packages to the distribution center 1/8mile away but, but but...butbutbut!!! it was a good thought -

just wondering where you are in VT? I'm in new york, rather close to VT actually... burlington is a nice day trip from here... always on the lookout for subaru freaks near me! -
I don't want to be mean, but have you tried doing a search?
-
megasquirt all the way! I plan on converting my regular old er27 to use megasquirt/spark, simply for tunability
-
ouch. no offense, but that's not exactly "within budget" for most people around here... I've got 3 xt6's that I didn't pay that much $$$$ for

with all these people concerned about turning those 35's I'd be doing an ER27 swap just to appease them

MSD Coil blew, absence of ballast resistor cause?
operose replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
a ballast resistor is the $0.25 part that caused tons of old valiants to not start sometimes.. located on firewall -
my dad got married sometime last summer, and the place where they got married is rentable... anyway, the old guy that owns the place has a real old mint condition amphicar, and he took dad&wife for a long ride down the river in it. was super cool

seahag has one with this exact description... 86 w/ no sidesteps or seats. I think it was decided that seats/sidesteps stopped in either 85 or before these brats were made in 86

prices and stuff for Xt6???
operose replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have 3 xt6's. first one (88 FWD auto ) needed pretty major unibody repair to be truthful and the odometer had stopped working at 74,000 miles, but I bought the car on a whim and didn't really have time to do a proper inspection. I paid $500 for this car and it treated me well until it was demolished because of some woman running a stop sign second one (89 AWD 5spd) bought this car as parts for $200 for a junkyard. it is completely mint and has I think 40k on the odometer. only problems are that it was hit in the front driver's fender, and it sat in the mud in the junkyard so long the underneath is a little rotten. also, no title. third one (89 AWD 5spd) this car is in decent shape, has decently low miles, needs a little TLC and a tranny swap (already have the tranny from parts car) paid $500 from an xt6.net board member hope that's helpful -
Heaven forbid what have I gotten myself into!!
operose replied to Skip's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
if the car was made to run on leaded gas you can buy "lead additive" that old domestic car owners sometimes put in their gas. not sure what the deal is but my brother started using it in his '65 valiant -
it isn't really an "oil level light" . if you have an "oil" light on your dash and it comes on, you're already screwed.

Is there any diff between XT/Alcyone/Vortex?
operose replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
side marker lights are 3-dimensional rather than flat against body panel!!! -
my gf's mom has a 4runner with whatever the hell a toyota 6cyl is called, and a 5spd... I drove it today 'cause I had some stuff to move after the house fire... MAN does that thing pull hard... in every gear... all the way up to the redline. could probably do massive burnouts if someone tried!!! plus the clearance on those older toyotas is through the roof. I'd rage one

looks like you need to introduce your family of fenderwells to my friend..... BFH!! edit: I think I have those same tires on the jeep I'm driving right now... they're sweet and cheap!!

3 Days Till GLF!!!!!!!!!!!!
operose replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah, I towed my '88 xt6 FWD from oswego to the canadian border wtih a uhaul dolly... wasn't too bad... nothing like towing the 4WD xt6 from the bottom of pennsylvania through an hour of the worst fog I've ever seen (on I-81 with people passing me at 75-80mph!!!) on a full size uhaul auto transport trailer (2000lbs + car weight.. was pushing me good down hills) -
Cool Subie pics (56K not so good)
operose replied to All_talk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just bought that sidewayzz black xt6 from him... it's soon to be a monster -
skid plate for xt6 lift kit for xt6 rear diff protector for xt6 brush guard/bumper guard for xt6 roof rack for xt6 brackets for aftermarket seats fender flares I plan on making most of this stuff myself, actually, due to a tight budget, but you wanted to know what I want

looking at the page I don't see where it says anywhere that these are fiberglass... hope you didn't have your heart set on it, because it might be steel :-\

hate to continue with the off topic-ness, but, well put pyro. anyway, the clearance on that car is crazy nuts! where do I sign up?
