  1. it gets real cold up here in the St. Lawrence Valley (tippy-top of New York..) we experience -30F sometimes regularly in the winter, and 110F a few times every summer.... screw that, I'll take the 40F in Alaska anyday! oh... a few days ago it was -15F, and today it was 47F at the high... talk about strange weather patterns.... the jeep I'm driving has dinosaur gear oil in the transmission.. can't even get it into neutral when it's below 0F, gotta sit there with your foot on the clutch waiting for it to warm up for 15 minutes, before you can put it in neutral and get out, go inside, stand by the fire for another 15 minutes, go back outside, and MAYBE drive away if your butt doesn't freeze to the vinyl seat!
  2. I'm headed to CA (San Francisco area!!) with my gf from the 28th to the 3rd... I'd love to get a ride in some nice soobs!!!! lemme know before I go, I'd like to hook up with some people and check out their rides (we're both young, but not immature!)
  3. I've got one, but it's for the wrong engine and in a different place! <edit> in my experience, the green, and black ones are the troublesome ones!
  4. use a multimeter and check for "continuity" I think it's called... just make sure that power can still make it from one end to the other.. sometimes they're visually burnt, sometimes they look fine.. only way is to pull them out and test, imho
  5. luckily, mine didn't go anywhere... just spun... a lot.. and I drove it for like... a week, trying to diagnose my charging problems, as it was apparently catching enough to turn it... man.. in retrospect, that's REALLY lucky
  6. I just bought a '91 legacy wagon today, and was also wondering about a skidplate... lemme know!
  7. that's why you should do your own maintenance (especially spark plugs and stuff..) then it's only your fault when stuff screws up!
  8. man this happens all the time... happened to me, too. I welded a freaking metal bar across it and that fixed the problem!... I just bought a legacy wagon and noticed that it has the same setup.. hope it doesn't happen to me again, that was a pain in the arse!
  9. I once heard a myth on this board that said that synthetic oil will make a high mileage engine more prone to leaking oil... I asked my dad about this because he's a reliablility engineer for the largest aluminum producer in the world, and has done more research on synthetic motor and gear oils than most of the people that produce/market/sell these oils. this myth is NOT true. any other questions about synthetic oil I'd be glad to pass on to him
  10. I actually ordered a huge "SUBARU" sticker for the top of my windsheild from someone out in california.. was in huge "olde english" font... a week later my car got totalled... the sticker still hasn't arrived
  11. can you lift an ea82 that's had the 5-lug stuff from an xt6 swapped on?
  12. that is an immaculate bronco. my uncle has one, but in nowhere near the shape. I'd keep it.
  13. not sure about the tire stuff, or pull-a-parts in your area, but definetly use NGK plugs
  14. crazy huge pics man for us loonies out here in "at work" land, what's a "VW Nova" ?? I've heard of a chevy nova, and a VW, but never a VW nova, escpecially a VW Nova with a subaru engine! looks crazy cool though
  15. the question is... when is this happening? as far as I know, I'm going to california as a "christmas present" from my girlfriends mother between I believe dec 26 and january 1!!!!!!!!!!!! please don't make me miss the third in a row paul
  16. I still don't understand why nobody has tried controlling a turbo on an er27 with MS+EDIS
  17. those look a lot like my xt6 mirrors... could be wrong though
  18. xt6 clutch kits for $89 shipped to your door at overnightautoparts.com
  19. first place to go is the offroad forum!
  20. having too much automatic transmission fluid in my 4EAT never seemed to have caused any problems...
  21. if what they're saying above is true, then I don't think you'll get accurate readings building a 'lil bit of boost in neutral... I don't own a turbo, but it would make sense to me that fuel pressure under tiny boost in neutral wouldn't necessarily be the same as fuel pressure under higher boost under load.. slap me if I'm wrong
