just wanted to say that loctite on a crank pulley bolt holds fine. I had an EJ22 pulley that the key completely sheared in half and trashed the end of the crank. I put the pully back on so it would have been lined up had there been a key, and torqued the ever loving $%!* out of the bolt with some loctite on it. when my waterpump bearings ate themselves, I heated up the end of the crank with a torch:Flame: (:eek:) and the bolt came right out.

Sad to see that the last few Adirondack Ice Races have been cancelled due to weather. My car has actually been in a condition fit to participate for once I'll be refreshing the page religiously in anticipation of the Caroga Lake race on the 28th although that one is a bit far away http://www.icerace.com/schedule.htm

Junk yard 'whole car' policies, WTH?
operose replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that's what I'm saying... nobody has ever looked at a vin plate on any of my cars, or any of my family's cars ............... I'm sure you can take it from here, I hate to imply too much -
Junk yard 'whole car' policies, WTH?
operose replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
exactly. I got a complete xt6 delivered to my door for $200. the guy sure didn't want to sell it but then when I told him I'd give him $200 in cash "right now" the tune of the song changed a bit  of course, as jon says, the title was long gone, but who cares? I've never had anyone ask to see the vin plates on my car, anyway .. -

Old Soob Parts New England?
operose replied to bgd73's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
couldn't have said it better myself. I have two xt6 parts cars. MY SAVIORS. couldn't have done it without the two cars that gave their lives to make another keep on truckin also I have two parts legacies if anyone in the northeast ever needs something from one -
well I called in yesterday and got yelled at for it.. so here I am today trying to figure out why you are being told to paint your car and loosen your grounds to fix a charging problem! if I could find someone to cover for me, now would be one of the times I would go home
-
maybe I still have a fever and shouldn't be at work. I don't really understand most of this either. :-\ have only had one xt6 alternator go bad. have replaced a few. most were due to split crank pulley. why loosen the grounds? what does my dealer have to do with it?
-
what? her rusty floor has nothing to do with a charging system issue... neither does paint. I can't even see how you would come to this conclusion other than something about grounds, which .. last I remember, nothing related to the charging system in an xt6 grounds to the floorboards. sorry to be harsh, but I've been having fever hallucinations for a week and still can't come to the same conclusion as you, bgd73

did it get warm at all? I'd check the damn crank pulley :-\ see my bazillions of posts on xt6.net about this. best bet if it split is to have it welded while the floors are being done. a little "tack tack" here and a little "tack tack" there and these pulleys will still go a long ways as several of mine have proven

wow, my thread! just so you know, I use dino motor oil currently. (synthetic trans and diff though) too many leaks for my small budget

let's do it finally getting snow here
-
my seatbelt mounting points in the FWD xt6 were the same way... nonexistant. I ended up using thicker than stock metal, and drilling a hole in it where the seatbelt mounts. then I welded a nut on the back. not the safest, but it worked, and I rarely had passengers anyway
-
I know the feeling. suba-buggy snow pics are making me jealous.. yet I have the strange desire to see more

when you say the driveshaft has to be shortened.. are you using the RX driveshaft or the one from whatever car you are getting the driveline from? -
