Will the outers and everything fit the ea82 shaft?
-
Inside yes they are the same. The xt6 outers are listed as being 27 spline on empi.com. Same for ea82's?
-
I know they're longer I just need to know if EA82T axles have the same outer spline count as an xt6 axle. I found some info on the xt6 axles at empi.com, but they only list one axle for all the ea82's - 23 spline inner and 30 spline outer (or backwards I dont remember)

You shouldn't have to pound the tunnel at all. Check into the 5speed kit that BratsRus1 sells - Its worth its weight in gold. On that note I have a question. Are xt6 axles and ea82T axles the same spline count? 25 Spline, correct? I need to send some axles off to get fixed to work in the brat and have some ea82T axles already pulled, but have access to xt6 axles. Thanks

I couldn't get myself to look through this whole thread so - Does a 1.6 ea71 intake fit on an ea63? How about the oil pump? Thanks. -
Its a 4/3" BYB lift and 28" Super Swamper TSL's

Tex, is that an ea81 you've drilled to fit the coilovers? I tried drilling the towers on a parts car I have, but it seemed that because the engine side of the tower is lower than the fender side, it didn't seem to work. How'd you do it?
-
was wandering around my computer and found this old video of the Brat. For those of you who haven't seen it:
-
Yeah, I was trying to use stock '90 legacy struts on the front, and they seemed to be too wide to fit into the tower. Impreza struts went in fine.

Pulled up in front of me at the gas station. 84Turbo Wagon with 40,000 original miles the owner said.

Swapping the ring and pinion? or the lsd chunk? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49924

You'd at LEAST want the d/r 5speed trans from the late 80's model subarus. An early legacy 5speed would probably be even better for street use. There's talk of putting the newer 6speeds in, but they would need a LOT of fabrication to fit, as they are a lot bigger than older trans. If you use a early legacy 5 speed, no adapter is needed, however you will have to fabricate a custom crossmember as they mount different.

Been done before: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400 A few things will be different, but have at it.

i have to donate so I can have my pm access back.

Right. But this would be in the scout wheeler, and using the 5speed Dual range would give me a dual T-case. I COULD use a newer trans, but they don't come with a 4wd option.

Looks sweet. if you go this route first, let us know how it goes.

Over the top.

So Im trying to figure out how much weight I can cut from the scout. The engine and tranny weigh around 800lbs:eek: and I could probably lose another 3-400lbs if I ditch the hard top, doors and tailgate. So maybe 3500lbs for the scout. I haven't looked at the scout trans at all to figure out if making an adapter would even work.
-
Thats what I was thinking as well. Thanks. I probably wouldn't be gentle either.
-
So I've got this crazy idea. The engine in my scout is on its last legs. I found a 345 v-8 for sale here in reno for 100$. It needs to be rebuilt and I'll be damned if I am going to stick with a carb on the thing. The problem is that the injection kit is like 1500$ for it. On top of the rebuild and the cost of the engine I'm lookin at roughly 2k. Soooo.... I was thinkin, why not throw in a 3.3l eg33 mated to a d/r 5speed into a samurai t-case. I think it would almost come out to close to the same, the hardest part would be having the custom motor/tranny mounts made. Everything else is just the same as the ej2ea swap. Right? My question is whether the 5 speed would be strong enough to push around 4500-5k lbs? And wheelin it? I'd be geared quite low and it would see more slow paced action, but what do you think? Feasable? Have at it. Thanks.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram covering the applicable swap parts? I might go to PnP in the next few days and start to gather parts.
-
Sweet. Thats good to know that the plugs are there already for the mirrors. Thanks for all the info.
-
Has anyone converted their manual brat mirrors and windows to power mirrors/windows? I was looking at a wagon recently (Knowing wagons are different) and was wondering how hard it would be. can I use the wiring from the wagon with the door bits of a sedan or coupe? Thanks. Search time!

There…. I fixed it!!!! (56k sammich time)
