  1. I also agreed with you so pwn if you like but I was pointing out your recommendation again. thanks for the smack down I'll stick my neck out again if thats what it takes to point out the obvious.
  2. I'm thinking it is probably s further symptom of the rusty housing syndrome. I just need to replace the whole housing and find one that repels water rather than collecting it.
  3. Again according to Subaru the NA cars should have 3.9:1 final drive if equipped with a 5 speed. I never bothered to look up the autos. what this sounds like in the OP's case is just as the others are describing you are not getting full throttle. On the carby models there is lots to check but your description doesn't mention falling on it's face so we'll rule out a plugged jet and focus on linkage. also check your floor mats they can limit throttle pedal travel. with a low powered car you need to get all the throttle travel you can.
  4. Aren't the DLs a rear wiper delete car? I have a DL hatch on my RX and its a wiper delete. BTW these cars can be made to handle quite well
  5. according to Subaru the turbo should do 131 the N/A should do 110 both numbers are eventual, probably timed on sundials or calendars.
  6. I've seen 125 and had revs to go but I am running an intercooled turbo at 12psi in an RX.
  7. I finally wired up my selectable boost control plumbed it as well. Next up testing to set a safe high boost setting (low setting is stock boost).
  8. I think the 225/45/15 hoosiers I have mounted on pugs will be adequate traction for most anything I can get out of this engine.
  9. I have only owned my one Suby, my current RX. I do love this car but with unlimited budget and my pick of them all..... I'd have to have the Legacy RS-A.
  10. those heads don't look like there is room for rockers. My question is on the engine currently in Quatrosan. What are the steel spacers between the manifold and block for?
  11. cheap non rebuild answer unscrew the top and carefully lift it off. have a helper turn the key to run. Work the float up and down. if there is debris holding the valve open then it will be evident and a simple process of popping off the float and needle and reinstalling it will clear most debris.
  12. Lack of power and black smoke tell me you are flooding. Pop the air cleaner off and look down the carb if you see standing fuel then your culprit is probably a stuck float valve. If these stick open you get exactly the symptoms you describe.
  13. Swap your intake to the new engine and it will work perfectly.
  14. I do but I'm using them on my current engine

  15. The other hatch was suffering from two problems. Number one aftermarket spoilerosis this resulted in many holes. Second bloat the wiper assembly and counter weight are not made of air (they're heavy). This DL hatch is by far the lightest version it has no wiper or counterweight.
  16. As promised here is a photo of one dirty hatch with a little bit of surface rust. it will be taken care of when the whole car gets redone... think IMSA RX gratuitous side shot to show off the hotness
  17. I've read that the 88 turbo cams are the best of the turbo cams. that said I have 85 turbo cams in my 88 and it has a slight lope and still pulls 18 in/hg at idle. if you want the best cams go with a set of delta turbo regrinds they will set you back a bit but they are worth it. here is a vid of it at idle
  18. I would concentrate on handling rather than power XT6 bars all round swap rear control arms if you don't already have a bar in back. Take advantage of the relative lightness of the subaru design. sure the top speed and acceleration won't beat much but in the twisties you can show them your tailpipe.
  19. Heart transplant was a success and the patient is resting comfortably. Here is the heart just after being brought to life... BTW does anyone know if there is an oil pressure sender for the 85 turbo that isn't for a dummy light?
  20. I have a set of flats for the race tires (225/45/15 hoosiers) and I'm on the hunt for some splits for street tires 205/50/15
