  1. Thanks a lot for all the replies. I had no idea it was so involved. Looks like I'm going to live with the wooden wedge for a while. Phil
  2. My 2003 Legacy with dual moonroof (forward roof tilts/ aft roof slides) has developed a small problem. The forward roof no longer tilts when I hit the button. It does unlock however, and I can push it up manually and hold it up with a wooden wedge. But I would like to repair it. I have pulled off the two plastic trim pieces and removed the two 10 mm nuts at the rear of the tilt roof. Now I can tilt the roof up about 5 inches. But the forward edge is still solidly connected and I have been unable to figure out how to disconnect it. I think if I could get the roof all the way off I'd be able to fix the problem. How do you get the tilt roof off? The solution must be fiendishly clever. Wouldn't it be elegant if there was some sort of sliding catch so that when you removed the rear nuts the roof would just slide off to the rear? No such luck. Right now I am stuck. Any ideas?
  3. Not to be a stickler or anything....... I bought a 95 Outback in 1995 and it is by far the best car I have ever owned. It is still on the road. But the only difference between the 95 Legacy and the 95 Outback are a few minor details: two tone paint, 15 inch wheels with low profile tires, and a 12 volt outlet in the rear. That's it. Oh, yeah. And an Outback decal. They didn't even have the metal Outback emblem in 95. No 3" lift. That didn't come till 96. Do yourself a favor and don't mess with the suspension. This is a superb handling car. This is the real deal. 95 was the first year the Outback was introduced and it was just a fancy package for the Legacy. In 96 it was a whole new model.
  4. Hey! I just tried this on my 2006 Outback and it works! Amazing! What I'd like to know is if this was intentional design by the folks at Subaru or if it was a more or less accidental hack that someone stumbled onto?
