Gave this wagon a nice look at the WCSS, and all I can say is awesome. First, i had no idea you did a "budget" build, I was truely impressed, but now I'm even more impressed knowing the history of this Subaru. Definately deserved the best classic award, nice!

Welcome! I did see your car, looked great.

WCSS 14 - A great Success!!
Shadabob replied to WCSS's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yeah, its called USMB...LOL JK :-p I know the Nasioc guys on the Northwest Forum had alot of pics, though alot of them are the new school stuff, but still great pics. There is already a very awesome vid up on youtube. -
Disagree on feeling we were "segragated." Space is valuable, understood, and we were given a space that worked great for us I think. Based on the number of older Subarus, we fit perfectly I thought. Agree with Turbone about the "sandwhiched" feeling some had (Admittedly, I was on the end, right at the mud pit exit, so I do think I was a bit spoiled with what I felt was a prime location). We could have spaced the cars a bit more, there was plenty of room for mud pit access with us only being 3 wide, even if its just 6 inches to each side, it goes a long way. Plus, everyone in the stands had a great overhead view of the "old school," while their backs were to the "new school." With that, two things: Those people into the older Subarus and want a closer up view of the hard work and details are going to walk through and check out our cars regardless of our location. Second, I don't want someone not intersted in our cars walking through the area simply looking for the hotdog stand. I had honestly thought that us "old schoolers" were placed there on purpose. I loved how the SVXs set on either side of the gate opening (awesome SVX display by Troy, and Mark's black as night SVX), and how the "exit" path lead around through the other gate to the mudd'n Subies. Obviously just my opinion, but I enjoyed our location. We are two different groups meeting for one Subaru meet, with different interests, but "Subaru" being the common. I just think alot of the "new school" who do have interest in the older Subies, really only have interest in the lifted, nasty Subies out getting air in the mud pit and trying to wheel over crushed Chevys and that is why the stands were packed with people cheering on the old school Subarus tearing it up out there. I for one walked past alot of WRXs without to much glancing (and every "new school I saw was simply jawdropping, but its not necessarily my thing)...because I needed a hotdog and some WCSS swag :-p

+1 agreed on this with ya Turbone. I had no idea it was even happening...and I was VERY excited to see the VX, especially after seening that commerical with all the "old subarus" driving themselves (go youtube VX commerical, its probably the best car commercial I have ever seen). I def didnt mind waiting to get judged, I totally understand and apperciate all the work the judges do, there are alot of cars to check out, but I wish there was a way the "stages" of the event could have been announced...like if the speakers could have been mounted on the top of the grandstands, lol. I would have liked to have had "everyone" corralled over to Subaru for the unviel, while things were put on hold. Really show Subaru the support, give em a "Subaru! Subaru! Subaru!" Super excited for next year!!

Agreed, GREAT time. Spent time with friends, gotta see some awesome "mud pit action" and totally worth the trip. Wife and I had a great time. Wish I would have taken more pics (of course) and would love to see if anyone has any vids of the Subs out in the mud. Thanks again! Erik & Jill -
Lol, true that, I'd love to find the roll and front bars. I've seen your thread, great job man, keep up the work. I'm honestly more jealous of the shop/ space you got :-p

No "real" plans for a lift right now, though a 2" lift would be nice. I actually have very little issues with the tires/ height right now for what I use my BRAT for...finding fishing spots :-p Link to a quick vid...me coming back across shallow creek, um yeah...I was fishing the lake this creek drains into... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODVmw5Fer5k

A pic of my Shovel mount. You can kind of see my "work in progress" rear tire mount/ rear seats. Right not just held in with one of those adjustable bars, but only temp until I finish building it up, hopefully sometime before WCSS. Gonna add some "legs" so the the seats can be pulled out and used on the ground...for "lazy fishing" or "campfire time".....I dont have any real intention hauling anyone around in them, so I prob will never install my seatbelts or headrests.

A couple more.... Here is one of my rims I painted up, holding up very well...

Bought several years ago, been a great driver to share time with my Xterra and SVX (both of which are now sold)...now shares time with my 65 Cyclone and 09 Altima. Stayed "stock" all this time...until this year... Within last 6 months or so... MODS: -Custom "Boss" striping done by Pooparu (I requested a "Boss 302" look, as I really wanted to "stand out" with something different, and showed him my idea, came out GREAT, I think) -14x6" Alloy Pugs -195/75/14 BFG's including full size spare -Jumpseats -Weber 32/36 Carb -Flowmaster Exhaust -Shovel/tool mount in bed In-Progress: -Bed mounted spare tire. The seat frame is actually mod' to be a part of this. -modifying jumpseat frame to be removable to double as "lounge chairs" with legs, also great for fishing... Future Plans: -Front Bar (I actually prefer to custom bumper) -Rollbar/ Light Bar w/ lights (duh) -Spray in bedliner Here is a pic of Pooparu doin the graphics back when it was "stock"

Wow, $280? that is a steal. Welcome. -
Djellum and I met up with our good friend to teach him how to drive stick on our Subies. He needs to learn, not to buy a Subaru, BUT he is leaning towards the FR-S, so I "allowed" him the pleasure of driving the BRAT, lol... Pic a little blurry...it was cold, and I had wolves after me... other then that, I picked up a couple Ammo Boxes for the BRAT, and I plan on getting some of the "custom" details I want finished for WCSS completed.

wow, look at the shine on those bumpers! dang, that is way nice. Thanks for sharing

Nice job, cool vids on youtube. Sandy, OR? not to far, maybe see you at a Subaru meet sometime?!?! Those must be your CL ads I've been perusing? :-p I keep hoping to see a gen2 rollbar or bullbar on there, lol I saw in a previous post your running 195/75/14s. Same here, and yes I had to adjust the front suspension all the way up, still had to trim the fronts a little, and the backs rub oh so slightly depending on the articulation (sp?), though I'm running BFG A/T's so they are a little "knobby" I suppose.

BRAT loud binding pop noise...CV? Transaxle??
Shadabob replied to Shadabob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think it did it to me in reverse too, but I'm not positive now and my Brat is sitting at the mechanics until later this afternoon. When I get it back and IF I'm still having issues, I'll make sure to check if it does it in reverse -
BRAT loud binding pop noise...CV? Transaxle??
Shadabob replied to Shadabob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm def not in 4wd. The shop said they checked for play in the cv, but seemed good. Well, I have the shop swapping it out anyways to see if it changes in any way, its warrantied, so no worries there. One thing, I'm pretty sure of its only doing it when the vehicle is moving. If I'm sitting still and I turn the wheel all the way either way, it is fine. It only feels to bind and pop when the wheel is turning...something I probably should have told the shop, since they probably just put it up on the lift and turned the wheel, and why he didn't seem to describe or understand exactly what I was experiencing. Since they did agree to change the CV, maybe that will fix it and I'll be able to pinpoint it by how it drives afterward. -
A month or so ago I had the driver's side CV replaced on my 86 BRAT after the old one shredded the boot. Almost immediately I started to get a "binding pop" whenever I take a sharp left turn ONLY. It didn't do it before, so naturally I took it back to the shop assuming that a bad CV axle had been installed. However, the shop says that they believe its the transaxle, NOT the CV they replaced. He said they inspected the CV and everything looked and sounded really good. And minus some warped rotors and needing to repack the wheel bearings everyting else seemed fine, so it must be a transaxle issue. Anyone have experience with this? So again, it only does it when I turn sharp left, slow speed, I almost feel that I can sense it binding, and as I straighten back out the steering wheel....pop! It also seems to have gotten a bit worse lately, popping followed by a click . It does not to ANYTHING else "odd" other then this pop sound when I straighten the wheel back out, and drives frick'n great everywhere I go. Any ideas? Thank you!!

+1 on a Brat bumper, or even a front Bar...if I wasn't on the other side of the country I'd have my Brat down there in a heartbeat... -

Wow, looks great! Those rims look CLEAN. So, I assume you'll now clear your calender for WCSS 14 -
