I was going to say. These guys are awesome. They have done many exhaust's on my own, and my family's cars and we have been going here for 15+ years. Including making a crazy straight-pipe stinger/victory exhaust on my ea82, and then later adding a muffler. Also made a amazing dual exhaust system on my dad's 64 mustang - from scratch. Very reasonable prices too. These guys are great, I highly recommend them.

I'm not sure about the strut question. But for the swap, although I have not done it. It is a pretty straight forward swap, the most difficult part being the wiring. There is a full DIY thread here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=73676 and places like http://www.sjrlift.com make conversion pieces

My car is an EA82 loyale with 180k and has original headgaskets, but brand new timing belt, water pump, distributor, rotor, cooling system, etc... My tick has begun, but sometimes it will just be at start-up and when I get to running temp, it goes away. Other times it doesn't, but its a very light tick (can't even hear it over the exhaust). What are my options? I know the Oil pump, and seafom. But how do I use the seafom? I thought I read that this stuff is bad if used incorrectly. What weight oil have you guys had success with? I'm currently using a 10-40 Anyone use a full synthetic? Also, I've read that motors will last in excess of 50k when the tick really starts going. But with my mild tick is it going to be bad to be at higher rpm's for extended periods of time? I have to drive from Salem, OR to Bothell, WA tomorrow, and back in 10 days. Is this going to be harmful? I'm always afraid of something happening when being at 3k rpms for 5 hours. With this, is there any other I'm prone to? I know this is a lot, but the help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are third-eye Subaru's so rare?
brysawn replied to sandor's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Why is any car rare? Because they produced a low number of them. -
As I stated, I used an optima red top battery (which is not a typical acid battery). Which is perfectly safe to be mounted in any position, unlike other batteries. And for a fully shaved bay, I didn't want to put it anywhere else. I could put it in the bed, but that looks tacky. And I didn't want it under the passenger seat, because with my corbeau's - there isn't much room. It has been under my truck for almost 3 years now, and I have yet to have an issue. It starts every time, and has yet to fail me. And when I remove the battery for the winter, it is in perfect condition, no dents, dings or scratches. But, I don't ever drive it in rain, so I'm sure there would be an issue there, but I don't face that. To the OP: you said you were looking for different placements of your battery, this is just the way I've done it. If you really want to get crafty, you could do something like this:

what do you use to remove decal glue residue?
brysawn replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What I've used with great success is a paint scraper, for removing paint off windows. They are very sharp, so it usually takes it off in one pass. Just be careful not to scratch your paint. And they are inexpensive, as are replacement blades. -
In another of my cars, I mounted the battery upside down under the car. This way it's out of the car, which helps it look even cleaner. I drilled some holes in a part of the frame (kind of the frame) and put some threaded rod through it with my angle iron brackets. It worked really well, never had one issue with it. Except - putting a trickle charger on, or changing a battery would be tough. Oh, and I used a optima red top, because they are safe to mount in any position.

ramdom questions about loyales
brysawn replied to loyalelover's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You aren't going to get more power from the EA82. You're best off just EJ swapping it if you want power. -
I just read the 25 page pdf, it looks pretty straight forward. But, i don't want to deal with that wiring. It's too much
-
Thanks for the info. I have never done a swap before, and this one seems pretty straight forward. The car is a EA82 Loyale
-
I am not doing the swap, I just have a couple questions, so I can decide whether or not to start looking for EJ's. Also, I did search. So my questions are these: What is done with the wiring? Are there company's that make complete conversion harnesses? What about mounts, where, and what mounts? What about the fuel system, drive shaft, and breaks/suspension/axles?

EJ20 Single Turbo - Can a 5spd D/R handle it?
brysawn replied to rxleone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
True I guess. But most people who have a turbo EJ motor, aren't going to want to baby it all the time. Every now and then you're going to want to put some power down, and it'd be nice to have a trans. that can hold that. -
He actually says that there was never an ea82 carbed model with a digi-dash. Mine is not carbed. So I'm asking if it is a plug and play kind of deal?
-
Those are so sweet! Sorry to be off topic, but are they plug and play into a ea82 loyale? if so, can you swap just the cluster, or does it have to be the full dash?

brysawn replied to rxleone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't know why you'd want one with those motors. If I were putting any sort of ej20t, ej22t, or ej25t, I'd want the corresponding trans. -
Exhaust on a 86 ea82 gl wagon
brysawn replied to fauxden's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
disregard the actual video, but the exhaust sound is there. this a warm up idle, you can hear the "rumble" pretty good, sounds even better out the back. this is a cat-back straight pipe http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=ruputx&s=3 -
EA 82T to EJ22 Swap... Can you feel thedifference?

it's not that difficult. -
EA 82T to EJ22 Swap... Can you feel thedifference?
brysawn replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Read. Yes, you will. It doesn't have a whole ton more power, but a noticeable amount (In my opinion), being as ej22's have about 25hp more. It won't be super fast, but it will be pretty quick. So again, the answer to your question is yes. And as the others were saying; if that isn't enough for you, then you can turbo it. -

Straight pipe it. You will get that rumble. It's defiantly cool, but also loud. -

I used a chip. But it would be best to use some sort of stand alone -

I had a cat-back straight pipe, it was very loud. It sounded cool, but got annoying on the freeway. -

For a lot of turbo'd motors, that's doesn't even seem very high. I know not subaru related, but my boosted vr (completely stock motor with the exception of mk4 headgasket) handled 8 psi no problem with 10.5:1, and I know most hondas are even higher then that (like k series motors)
